We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

watchPhone · 08/07/2026 10:44

….and found 😆

Peridot1 · 08/07/2026 11:19

Glad to hear it @watchPhone! 😂

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 08/07/2026 13:30

Hi all, mild chaos here as D ill since Saturday, she's been on antibiotics since Sunday as well - quite unlike her to drag it out for so long so we were a bit worried but maybe today there are signs of improvement? 🤞🤞

In the meantime we had joiners in starting to fit a lovely big shelf unit in the sitting room.

We might manage to nab the builder in August to redo the kitchen which means Project Eat All The Food will begin...

WinterFrogs · 08/07/2026 14:41

It's all happening round these parts! Hope ailing family members feel better soon and much love to those who are looking after them ❤️

You do make me grin with your card @watchPhone! Glad you found it!

Just a fly by from me. Like our @Peridot1 I am going in circles.

WELL DONE @Mumtobabyhavoc 👏

I think it's to do with the weather, but i need to brain dump again! I am not thinking very straight and because i didn't get my act together with the freezer/ batch cooking, i have sausages baking in the oven as they needed cooking or freezing. I have got to put a stop to DH's Tesco habit and I think it'll only happen if I can show him a well planned menu and appropriately stocked fridge and freezer. He has 'ishoos' around providing and can't help it, but it's stressing me having the oven on in this heat so I need to lead the way.

Pleased to hear of safe travels @FourSeasonsLobelia 😀

Hope @petalpower is ok 🙏

And everyone ❤️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/07/2026 17:16

Glad to hear from you Lobelia. Hope all is well with your ds now. Sorry your mum ended up in ICU. Sending support.
SoE, how do you manage to lose your card so often ...😂 Glad you found it.
Winter, I've been on the other end food-wise. Was finding I was over-shopping so am now letting fridge get practically empty.
Single, hope corner is turned. 🤞
Peridot, sound like a day of puttering for you: a little bit here and there. Keeps lids on pots, though!

It's cloudy, cool and windy here. Temp is 15c .
I'm tired. Might go back to bed for a bit.

petalpower · 08/07/2026 21:39

All ok here thank you @WinterFrogs . Back visiting the oldies for a few days (again!). I don’t know where the time goes.
Hope your mum is doing ok @FourSeasonsLobelia and fingers crossed things go well for your mum @Mumtobabyhavoc . Parents are such a worry. I’ve just been showing 91 year old MIL how to send WhatsApp messages and how to delete people from her phone contacts (she’s quite ruthless!!). Back home tomorrow after another to my dad at his care home.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/07/2026 23:59

I don't think hooking up my mum's IV will be difficult. One more practice session at the hospital tomorrow.
Glad you are okay Petal.

WinterFrogs · 09/07/2026 07:43

Lovely to "see" you @petalpower ❤️ Best wishes to you and your mum @Mumtobabyhavoc 💐

I've just put bedding on to wash, hoping it finishes in time for me to hang before work ( my machine is a liar)

Relying on flylady today. Mission is to sort kitchen junk drawer so I will do that later. Dinner will be cold tonight!

Stay cool everyone 😎

Peridot1 · 09/07/2026 08:35

Morning all.

Nice to see you @petalpower.

Job 1 of today done - side garden watered.

DS is in London again and DH is going to Costco. I will be HOME ALONE. Happens so rarely these days I will relish it. Not that they are overly demanding but it’s just nice to be on my own in the house.

Usual laundry and kitchen tasks. Need to vacuum ground floor rooms. And de-cobweb upstairs ceilings - lots of those skinny spiders about. Will clean DS’s bathroom which I didn’t do yesterday.

Then I am out this afternoon at dentist for a check up. And maybe a mooch around the charity shops.

Today’s other task will be to apply for a new passport.

Have a great day all.

Peridot1 · 09/07/2026 11:02

Productive morning so far. One load of laundry done and hanging out. My summer duvet now in machine. Did DS’s bathroom. And washed the outside of the Velux window in my walk in wardrobe. Have a shade arriving for it today so it is now all clean and hopefully we can get the shade fitted.

Also emailed a company about fitting solar film to our windows on the south and west of the house in an attempt to keep it a bit cooler. Will contact a couple more.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/07/2026 03:44

Got into the garden and was there about two hours or so, but an hour of it was chatting to neighbour. Other neighbour, the well meaning gardening neighbour, has now put more plants into my garden. So, I now have lettuce and tomatoes that I didn't plant. I had some of the lettuce in my salad at dinner.
One load of laundry washed and hung up this morning before my mum's medical appt. I now have all the IV supplies & medication for the drip to begin it at home tomorrow.

Dinner was pasta with feta, bison meatballs and steamed broccoli and green beans; and the salad and a couple of meatballs for me.
It's 21c. No breeze. Cloudy.

OP posts:
Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/07/2026 06:25

I managed to fold and put away the laundry then wash and hang up another load. That'll make tomorrow a bit easier. 😅

Peridot1 · 10/07/2026 08:52

Morning all.

Still hot hot hot.🔥

Are you struggling @WinterFrogs?

Your gardening neighbour sounds lovely @Mumtobabyhavoc.

So my productive day didn’t continue yesterday. Dentist took longer than expected as had a small procedure done. So today I still need to vacuum and de cobweb.

The shade blind for the Velux window arrived so hope we can get it up today. I put a thermometer in the walk in wardrobe yesterday and it reached 31.5…. It will be interesting to see how much of a difference the shade will make.

New rug arrived for under the dining table so will hopefully get that sorted although the table is solid oak and VERY heavy.

PT session this morning. Have a towel wash on. Heard back from company about the solar film so need to measure and count window frames and they will quote.

Have a great day all.

WinterFrogs · 10/07/2026 11:22

I can't get anything done when I've people in the house @Peridot1 I hope you enjoyed the peace.

@Mumtobabyhavoc kudos to you for dealing with your mum's treatment ❤️

I'm not sure how I'd feel about a neighbour just planting things in my garden 🤔 I would quite like somebody to make it lovely though. DH health not up to it, and I lost control of it in the spring because we didn't put it to bed properly for the winter. There is a lot of wildlife in there so I can't bring myself to use power tools. Front garden is nice, and the patio area but the rest is a bit wild!

I got waylaid. Wrote that hours ago!

Doing ok so far thank you @Peridot1 It's mid afternoon to early evening that is the worst. Am out and about today with the opportunity to cool down in various places ( and the car) It'll be interesting to see how your shade blinds help. My bedroom was 27c this morning.

Hope all are well 💐

petalpower · 10/07/2026 11:43

It’s very humid here today so my curly hair has gone mad. I’m at the hairdressers now and hoping they can do something with it!
Hope you manage to get to grips with your mum’s treatment @Mumtobabyhavoc . You have a lot on your plate with the two Havocs as well.
I like having the house to myself occasionally as well @WinterFrogs . Well, me and Petaldog!
Doing a few jobs whilst I’m in town at the hairdressers and have tasked DH with going to the butchers and greengrocers whilst I’m out. He’s got a list but I’m sure he’ll freestyle a bit.

watchPhone · 10/07/2026 15:51

I use my phone to pay for everything and then when I can't that's when it goes awry. In olden times I would have been labelled fussy but today I have sensory issues around textures so I have never been able to find a purse/wallet that I can touch with the right shape; plus there's then the mix of notes + coins + cards to contend with. I could go on 😄

I absolutely am not going to mention losing my phone in the park last weekend and the kind act that brought it back to me. I am still not sure how they got hold off my emergency contact on the phone when it is locked down so much.

Glad it's the weekend, half day today, warring colleagues are, to be very northern, doing my head in.

Today

  • plumber arriving at some point this afternoon to get rid of mystery pipe to old immersion heater in loft. It is going to be hot up there. I do not envy them. They want paying in cash so there's a trip to the cashpoint. Card is ready 😄
  • get stuff ready for a trip to the skip over the weekend.
  • Need a gym session tonight mainly for the air conditioning
  • we've booked accommodation for Cornwall - now I have to hire a car.
  • SpiritDoggo keeps looking at me as if to say why are you watching the tennis and not working? It is not looking good for Arthur - albeit he is having a mini resurgence.
  • once the tennis and the plumber done, quick walk for the SpiritDoggo and then a trip to M&S for food
Too hot to do anything else, have a good one, SoE
RunningKatie · 10/07/2026 16:32

Melting here, I need a shower before pilates. One week of school to go, I can't wait even though I don't work in a school - mornings are calmer and a lot of activities stop so we're not constantly clock and calendar watching. We're off to Norfolk this year, looking forward to a good paddle and a crab sandwich.
Talking of which - end of Pier show booked.
Car in for MOT on Monday so need to get DH to help me check it over.
I need to do some ironing, it's waiting till next week when it's due to be cooler.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 10/07/2026 19:17

Hi all.. waving from colder climes and thinking longingly of summer heat… which just goes to show that we always want what we don’t have! All okay here. The mother overdid it yesterday so I am babysitting her today ( Saturday) while the father has an obligation he needs to attend until mid afternoon. Netflix is on the agenda and I will cook dinner. I made roast chicken with honey, oranges and cinnamon for dinner and so tonight will be creamy chicken crepes with the leftover chicken..it really did end up being s mumsnet chicken.

other than that no news on the Lobelia front. Hope you are all well and loved ones also. X

Mumtobabyhavoc · Yesterday 02:32

Dinner sounds great Lobelia. 😋
Is your mum up and around?

SoE this would be a different thread entirely if you didn't post news about losing your bank card or phone and I'd stop reading if you did. 🥰😘💕

Hang in there Katie!
I like the sound of a crab sandwich! 🤗
How is that one made?

Single, how is DD feeling?

Petal, I'm also a curly haired girl. Humidity is a killer. Gave both my kids a bath this morning and my hair somehow managed to come out of the ballerina bun I had and when I saw myself in the mirror I was ...

disgusted my eyes GIF

No curls here. Mine just goes flat.

Your post made me smile in recognition @watchPhone! And you have a lovely way with words ❤️

Tempted to hop on a plane and join you for dinner @FourSeasonsLobelia 😋

@RunningKatie do you find you really look forward to the holiday then start counting the days till term starts in that last week? That's what I did. Loved them being around then it would get just a little too boisterous and I'd yearn for peace!
I have offspring and GC coming for brunch today then I will pack them all off and DH too, as it's Saturday so it's cricket. Kitchen needs a clean and i think i lost some blueberries under the freezer a couple of days ago so will pull it out today. Going to do that right now, so I can relax this afternoon.

Big loves to all ❤️

SingleThreadJoiner2 · Yesterday 08:26

Thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc she finally went back to school yesterday 🎉🎉 and seemed quite happy about it. Busy weekend starts now with some activities and a christening and we just have to survive the heat...

Peridot1 · Yesterday 18:24

Dinner sounded yum @FourSeasonsLobelia. Hope your mum rested well today.

I’m not feeling too motivated at the moment with the heat. But that’s ok. No urgent jobs to be done.

Helped DH put a shade on the Velux window in the walk in wardrobe yesterday. It’s sort of in the eaves and I swear he banged his head at least ten times. I spent the entire time saying “mind your head”. Anyway it is up and seems to be making a difference already.

Also measured and counted window panes and took photos of house and sent off to company for quote to install solar film. Not cheap so will need to think about it.

Today I did usual kitchen stuff, a garden centre trip, vacuumed and just chilled. We went for a curry last night with friends and one was wearing some lovely loose cool flowing trousers which she apparently got at the garden centre a couple of years ago. So I went today to see if they had anything similar. Sadly they only had ones my MIL would have loved……

DH is about to cook dinner and then later he and DS are going to some friends in the village to watch the football. So nice chilled evening in the garden for me with my Kindle. And maybe some strawberries and ice cream.

petalpower · Yesterday 22:17

A bit of a cooler start here this morning - even a smidge of drizzle in the air which made my lovely hairdresser straightened hair go a bit wild. How annoying. We had a hosepipe ban start last night and I’m already bored with watering using watering cans. It takes so much longer.
Glad to hear that your mum is doing ok @FourSeasonsLobelia .Have you started your mum’s treatment at home yet @Mumtobabyhavoc ?
Lots achieved today:

  • washing done and dried x2
  • savoury snacks made for village event tomorrow
  • plants potted on
  • fridge cleaned and sorted
  • admin done
  • house straightened out
Now watching the football and keeping everything crossed for England!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
Mumtobabyhavoc · Yesterday 22:25

Watering except trees and shrubs banned here. We can water gardens, but for you that means grass etc, I think. Watering grass/lawns is banned. For us it's veg/fruit/flowers planted. Had the hose at the base of the cherry tree two days ago for an hour. One was cut down earlier this year. 😢
I recently read that all the trees in the lower mainland are dying in slow motion from the heat dome of '21. It's shocking.

Also have soccer on. It's a tough call: cheer for hot vikings or English cousins. 😉
