We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

And speaking of salads... I made one with:
peas and lettuce from the garden
tomatoes
cucumbers
a bit of cooked penne
a bit of leftover salmon
feta

And smug pasta for everyone else:
simmered cream
added left over salmon, roasted potatoes, and peas
then cooked penne
seasoned with black pepper

Washed a large load of towels and got Havoc out for a haircut after speaking to the hospital and insisting arranging to cancel home care nurse, book my mum for outpatient IV and advise we want to do the IV at home now.
Damn these peas are good. 😋

@Mumtobabyhavoc - it was Crispy Spiced Lamb, Augergine and Freekeh with pickled onions. Had to pre pickle the onions. Make a separate dressing. Roast the aubergine separately. Cook the bulgur wheat I used instead of the freekeh. And as DH wasn’t convinced it was a full meal I had to do some potatoes for him as well. 🤔
I suppose it wasn’t that complicated really but lots of different steps. Was very tasty though. Wouldn’t bother with the aubergine next time. Or eggplant to you I suppose! I have leftovers for lunch for a few days and the dressing and onions keeps for a week.

WinterFrogs · 04/07/2026 15:34

Ah @Peridot1 that sounds like something i would probably choose at a restaurant but I'm way too lazy to cook and put it together myself. Salad here is just normal salad stuff plus baby spinach, beetroot ( not pickled) and chopped/sliced raw veg. I try to have it at least once a day and ( still on the lazy theme) tinned fish ( occasionally pan fried salmon) or eggs or cold chicken. DH not quite so enthusiastic as I am but will eat a small salad. He's more of a meat and potatoes/pizza and chips kind of guy left to his own devices.

A chickpea curry went down surprisingly well the other day.

I hope you are doing ok with all that's on your plate @Mumtobabyhavoc! Your food sounds very tasty too 😋

I've done a bit of washing today and it's drying beautifully. And after writing about how I try to be minimalist on another thread, I have taken my own advice and cleared some clutter from the bedroom. I'd be way more minimalist if I lived alone. But I do my best and fortunately DH is not too much of a clutterbug.

Hope everyone is have a nice day 😊

Peridot1 · 04/07/2026 16:09

@WinterFrogs - we both like trying new foods and both like cooking. Well I like cookbooks. He likes cooking…😄. I liked the idea of main meal salads rather than just a salad as an accompaniment to a meal. We are both on Mounjaro and I’m trying to make sure we eat enough protein and fibre while on it. DH is pretty traditional with foods in some ways though. Very much a meat and potatoes man. Although as we lived in Asia he does great Asian food too.

WinterFrogs · 04/07/2026 16:34

Hehe @Peridot1 🤣 My DH is the 'you' in that scenario! He points out recipes in books and news articles and I say something like 'ooh that looks tasty' and suggest he cracks on. He doesn't though.... I mean he does cook, and actually perfectly well, but I think the things he points out are just food porn really. He likes watching cooking programmes too. I just want everyone fed really, the simpler the better. But wholesome. I like the idea of cooking lovely meals but I just feel like I have better things to do. Hence my new interest in more plant based, spicy cooking. It just looks easy and healthy. God I make myself sound like such a bore with my simple living blarney 🙈 It's just cos I have so much going on that I don't write about on here that my brain would explode if home life was complicated as well 🙃

Peridot1 · 04/07/2026 17:06

That makes a lot of sense @WinterFrogs. I really have to be in the mood to do much other than simple. And plant based and spicy sounds great to me. I could definitely live like that most of the time. DH does the majority of the cooking here. He gradually took over once he retired and I let him.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 04/07/2026 20:27

Enjoying all the cooking chat. In theory I love to cook and try new recipes but in practice it will never happen during the week, and D isn't interested anyway. At least H also enjoys both the cooking and the eating. Occasionally we manage something interesting at the weekend but less often than we'd like. Ah well, something about eventually we'll be out of the trenches, right?! Right..?!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/07/2026 00:18

Peridot, that salad does sound good, but I agree a lot of prep. I'm a bit boring in that I tend to make the same basic salad of a bell pepper, 2 mini cukes or 1/2 a large, 2 tomatoes or 12 grape tomatoes and goat feta, for my lunch or dinner probably 4x a week. I add spinach/kale/rotisserie chicken/baked salmon/prawns if on hand and just dress it with evoo, vinegar and a bit of salt. Oh, and I like to peel a Mandarin orange and add it or a handful of grapes.
I've just had naan with hummus and have moved on to peas in their pods from the garden to scoop up the hummus. France just win against Paraguay. I've done SPA today apart from making pancakes for brunch and wiping the kids mess off the floor.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/07/2026 00:45

I've now folded and put put the clean clothes away. Woot. Woot. 🙄

White towels/wash cloths washing on a hot bleach wash. ✅
Cleaned bath tub and tiles (!) and wiped bathroom floor. ✅
Kitchen garbage tied up and gathered some recycling. Will take out tomorrow. ✅

But, paper mail is still waiting. 😵‍💫
I'm going to turn the dishwasher on before I forget.

D is 6/7 am I right @SingleThreadJoiner2? That trench is more like a maze in my experience 😆 If it's any consolation my lot are better cooks than I am now!

I just had left over tuna/salad mix for breakfast. DH thinks I'm very odd and is eating coco pops 🙈 But I know who's going to have a blood sugar crash mid morning and it ain't gonna be me!

Can you create a step by step for the paper mail @Mumtobabyhavoc ? I have a similar problem with some family admin. I can make myself feel very busy and productive while I am procrastinating about that, but it's all still lurking malevolently in my little office. It just needs is to be filed, and a couple of phone calls made, and yet it feels so hard!

I'm just off out into the garden to do a bit of jungle clearance weeding while it is still cool. And must get something out of the freezer for dinner tomorrow. Spicy plants again tonight. Something smug and spicy, to use what's in the fridge before it wilts and needs turning into soup.

Best get to it. Happy Sunday 😊

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 05/07/2026 09:44

That's right @WinterFrogs excellent memory! She's 7 at the end of this month 😳 a maze sounds about right!

It's funny, it's perfectly mainstream to have kippers or smoked salmon for breakfast so why does tuna feel more odd? You're right though, sugar crash ahoy for the coco pops...

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/07/2026 09:45

Winter, very sensible suggestion. My mail adversion is so off the chart... I'm still awake. Why? Because I thoroughly vacuumed, moved furniture and vacuumed under it, then washed floors. Towels into dryer. It's very clean here. And the mail hasn't been touched.
I will try again tomorrow. And I also thought about just pulling out a few pieces a day. It's just so ... ugh. 😵‍💫😩

Paperwork is absolutely my nemesis too, I move it around the house which is no use whatsoever. Then it sits on the chair in the spare room so I have to move it every time I wfh. It's as if I enjoy creating more work for myself.
Everyone has breakfasted here, we went weekend-ish so bacon or sausage sandwiches for all, plus a bonus sausage for ddog who loves his food!
I need to go to the supermarket, and then this afternoon we are going to visit my mum.
We saw the first half of the France game but didn't enjoy some of the dubious dives and tactics, pleased France won but commiserations on Canada going out @Mumtobabyhavoc , I suspect that'll be England too at 1am tomorrow!
Did my first reformer pilates class, loved it, didn't fall off and I now ache a bit.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/07/2026 10:38

Yes, heartbreaker for us Katie, but it was a very good game until last bit with goals in quick succession. We should be happy with our achievement, though. We did well, put the team on the world stage etc. Fun atmosphere here as a host city. Have had the kids out to Granville Street when we won against Qatar, then Granville Island for a bit of one of the watch parties, Hastings park for another watch party at the Fan Fest and then just out and about checking out the decos etc. So, it's been a good summer event.

I hope England does well. Late night for you watching there on a work/school night. There's a thread debating staying up for it, rather letting kids stay up and go to school late, skip or go in on time. 😂

I need to grocery shop, too. Havoc wants hot dogs and thinks they're good for you because they taste good. I think my explanation to the contrary was pretty much rejected out of hand. I was met with a bit of silence then Havoc proceeded to tell me what else to buy. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Morning all.

Commiserations on Canada going out @Mumtobabyhavoc. I’m not a big football fan so haven’t really been keeping up. Although most of Ireland became Cape Verde supporters as one of their players is from Dublin. Was gutted for them that they went out. Loved the story of how the recruited the guy from Dublin. They sent him a message on LinkedIn. Which he ignored as it wasn’t in English and he didn’t understand it. They tried again a few months later in English and hey presto!

Lazy day here today. Have done some laundry and a quick supermarket run. Need to do a quick tidy round and unload the dishwasher and hang up laundry and put another lot on. Then I’m just going to sit and read in the garden.

@WinterFrogs - not sure I’d fancy tuna for breakfast. But yes I’d have smoked salmon. Odd isn’t it?

@Mumtobabyhavoc maybe just try to deal with one mail item a day. Might spur you on a bit. We don’t get much mail at all as have gone paperless for most things.

Have a good Sunday all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/07/2026 04:10

Well done England 👏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

WinterFrogs · 06/07/2026 08:22

I definitely prefer tuna to smoked salmon. Don't like that at all. Love a pan fried or baked salmon fillet though.

I have found that a really decent, late breakfast helps with sugar cravings. I'm reading the eight week blood sugar diet by Michael Moseley, following on from the Alan Carr ( not that Alan Carr!) Good Sugar, Bad Sugar book. I am hoping to fix my diet for good this time.

It's astonishing how the football has more or less gone right over my head. I am aware of it but that is all. A bit like radio 3.

About to put together a bolognaise to go in the slow cooker. Then I plan a bit of gardening while it's still cool and then I'm meeting a friend 🧡

Peridot1 · 06/07/2026 09:34

Morning all.

Quick post this morning (for a change!) as am about to go for a walk before it gets too hot.

List:

  • dishwasher and kitchen
  • laundry
  • change a bed
  • water garden
  • tidy small spare bedroom
  • help DH put suitcases up into loft

Have a great day all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/07/2026 18:28

I tackled THE MAIL last night!!!
It was just filing or tossing, but it is mostly done. 😅

Our weather will be warmer this week. The humidity was 80% the other day. 😩
It's hazy and breezy and 21c at almost 10:30am.
Just going to brush the kids' teeth and head out for my mum's med appt.

Peridot1 · 06/07/2026 21:36

Yay you @Mumtobabyhavoc! Well done!

RunningKatie · 07/07/2026 20:53

I am going to sit and label school trousers for September whilst the football is on. I'd like to claim this is me being organised but it's two pairs and I just want it done.
Dc2 has just announced they'd like some lighter weight trousers for Friday's dress down day. So that's my Thursday evening trip to the shops in 30 degree heat sorted. How wonderful.
How's your mum @Mumtobabyhavoc ? How are things with you @FourSeasonsLobelia ?
We're gearing up for a hot few days but so far it's been cloudy so temperatures are bearable.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/07/2026 23:22

Had my mum to IV appt this morning and will go next two days. Hoping to do it at home after that. 🤞Thanks for asking Katie. 💕

Also thinking about Lobelia.

Had a late lunch of my usual salad with added chicken; hot dog and steamed green beans & broccoli for Havoc after a pancake; a pancake, green beans and broccoli for Baby who keeps asking for chocolate chips and I keep saying, Help mummy eat all the veggies first. 🙂

Drove across town and back for my own medical appt this afternoon and now watching the Columbia v Switzerland soccer game that's live here at BC Place.

Hoping @mumofoneAloneandwell and @autumnangel are okay. 💕

Hi all. Checking in from Melbourne! All okay here thanks. Arrived in Australia and then ds1 was starting a cold which is dangerous for the mother as her immune system
is shot so we decamped to a hotel. Possibly being too cautious but better safe than sorry as she got a chest infection last week which put her in ICU. So just not risking anything. She’s in good cheer though and DS’s cold seems to be over now so the plan is to head back to the parents house tomorrow night provided her consultant thinks there isn’t any risk.

ive not been online much. Hope all are well and your mum okay @Mumtobabyhavoc . ❤️❤️ to you all.

Peridot1 · 08/07/2026 09:32

Morning all.

@FourSeasonsLobelia - glad you got to Melbourne ok. Rubbish about DS’s cold but better safe than sorry. Hope you can move back home.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - glad you might be able to get your Mum’s IV done at home. Much easier for you all.

Not sure what I’ve been doing. Trying to tidy spare bedrooms. Need to sort linen cupboard so I can put stuff away, But need to sort spare rooms first so I can have somewhere to empty linen cupboard to and sort. Going around in circles a bit!

DS is in London today so I’ll do his bathroom. Might tackle his desk……. maybe not!

Bit of gardening maybe. Definitely watering. Might do that now before it gets too hot.

Have a great day all.
