We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

Apologies for encouraging procrastination @SingleThreadJoiner2 😅 Glad you got it done!

Give it a go @Peridot1 🥳

Ahhhhh, it's cooled down here! It's so good to feel some energy again. I have felt like a sloth all week. Coffee and watermelon wedges for breakfast outside. And feeling just a little bit cold. Lovely!

I hope everyone else is feeling comfortable too! Have a lovely day whatever you're doing ☕️ 🍉

Peridot1 · 28/06/2026 09:15

@WinterFrogs - I will give it a go. Somehow. I need one of my brain dump lists which does help me feel a bit more in control. Brain feels a bit scrambled at the moment with what I want and need to do. Both in the house and the garden. Looking at Flylady yesterday made me feel more not less frazzled. Clutter has built up with everything we have been doing with the house.

Might put brain dump list into ChatGPT and see what happens!

@SingleThreadJoiner2 - bet you are relieved the school fair is over. Have been involved with a few - it can be a thankless task!

Glad it is cooler here too @WinterFrogs. I do like the sun and heat but not what we have just endured. And apparently we might have another heatwave from next weekend…….🥵

As today is Sunday and a day of rest not much is planned. I am going on a walk with some people in the village. Neighbour is trying to get people interested in walks on our public footpaths and helping to keep them cut back etc. Not many takers but he keeps trying. We start and end at the pub so a quick g&t afterwards will be my reward.

Still doing DH’s laundry stash. Apparently we are almost through. Also need to do DS’s laundry today or tomorrow.

So today is laundry, dishwasher/kitchen, more laundry, walk, brain dump list and chill.

Have a great Sunday all.

PS @Mumtobabyhavoc - I made a version of that salad you mentioned the other day and it was lovely. Adding half a nectarine chopped up made such a difference.

WinterFrogs · 28/06/2026 09:41

You do sound completely overwhelmed @Peridot1 🫂 Brain dumping is a really good start. Helps me too.

I'm still procrastinating with my third coffee outside. It's just such a relief.

Then shower, dress, clean shoes ( i have new indoor ones) and shine sink. DH is threatening to do some gardening so I am going to put the house straight. Promised my mum a visit later too. I haven't seen her all week but we've spoken and she's fine. I've spoken to all my little chil'uns on WhatsApp so I am happy 😊 Poor DS and his wife are still in outrageous heat. They are a couple of days behind us. But even hotter in central Europe.

Must get to it 😘

Oh, yum! I'll remember nectarines when the good local ones arrive😋
I'm all about Mandarin oranges with feta right now.
I'm so glad you made the salad. It's almost like we finally got together for dinner. 🤗
I've often thought to suggest a pasta/pizza/whatever night here for a virtual get-together...🤔

Peridot1 · 28/06/2026 10:01

@Mumtobabyhavoc - I bought both mandarin oranges and feta yesterday…. 😄

Peridot1 · 28/06/2026 10:05

Coffee outside in the cool is just what Sunday mornings are for @WinterFrogs.

I’m not sure why I suddenly feel overwhelmed. 🤔 I think I go through periods of it though. Realising my obsession with interiors and trying to get everything perfect may be a distraction activity…..

Peridot1 · 28/06/2026 21:38

Well. Sorry to unload on you all. But.

i dumped my brain load list into ChatGPT and I have a plan. And a project manager. And an understanding of why I feel like I do. And I have to say whilst it’s very helpful it’s freaking scary!!!! But I do feel calmer.

I did still need to do a pen and paper list afterwards though……

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/06/2026 04:20

I hope you are okay @Peridot1 ? 🩷💐

OP posts:
FourSeasonsLobelia · 29/06/2026 05:01

Hope you are okay @Peridot1 . Thanks

I have periods of feeling desperately overwhelmed also. And I then panic. (I've been up for an hour already trying to get on with all the stuff I need to do and sort)

Hope all is well.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/06/2026 06:16

Managed to fold/put away and wash more laundry and clean bathroom except tub today. Errands this morning meant out the door at 9am. Got the kids to the Greek Fest today then playground after, which was much nicer, actually, as there were fruit trees, raspberry bushes and a huge community garden to look at; a lot of lovely big old trees and a great field in addition to the playground and I love getting the kids out in all that. It was great watching Havoc take off running with Baby following.
We'll be out the door early for a med appt and procedure for my mum at the hospital as a continuation of her hospital stay over month ago. Now that the specialists are following up they're no longer in agreement that her med emergency was just one of those things and are investigating.
Hope everyone is coping okay with life's curve balls.

Peridot1 · 29/06/2026 08:59

I am good thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc and @FourSeasonsLobelia. Definitely feeling more in control.

Having the focus of the bbq and doing the garden projects I did as well as having stuff done in the house meant usual routines got disrupted. On the surface the house looks normal ish. But both spare bedrooms and my bedroom and wardrobe are disasters as they became dumping grounds. So focus is on getting all of that back to a calm state. While keeping up with normal housework and garden.

Once I’ve sorted the chaos I will give Flylady a go @WinterFrogs but I need to get to a position where I don’t feel everything is in a state of chaos first.

Today’s list:

  • usual dishwasher/kitchen
  • laundry
  • arrange for handyman to come and put pictures up on landing and stairs
  • arrange for ironing to be picked up
  • put clothes and shoes away in my bedroom
  • empty rubbish bins in my bedroom and bathroom
  • tidy off surfaces of bedside tables and chests of drawers in my bedroom
  • do 30 minutes in garden
  • exercise

Have a great day all.

Peridot1 · 29/06/2026 09:00

Your trip out with the DC sounds lovely @Mumtobabyhavoc. And glad your mum is getting sorted medically.

@FourSeasonsLobelia - I’m sure you feel completely overwhelmed at the moment. Deep breaths! When do you fly?

Peridot1 · 29/06/2026 09:04

On a lighter note….

Life in an English country village - yesterday I went on an organised walk on one of the public footpaths around the fields with some others from the village and we finished up with jugs of Pimms on the village green. This morning a post has gone up asking if anyone has lost a goat as there is one wandering around. Apparently it’s currently at the pub which is on the village green. It’s never dull!

RunningKatie · 29/06/2026 09:49

I raise your lost goat @Peridot1 and give you: coffee shop stop and 2 shetland ponies appeared with owners at the next table and had a lotus biscuit each. I was definitely in an English village on a sunny Sunday afternoon!
Glad the heat has subsided, yesterday dc2 was a ball of grumpiness due to little sleep and a probable ear infection. Hoping the antibiotics kick in but also might account for them collapsing in the heat at school.
Hope everyone is ok on this Monday, hope all goes ok with your mum @Mumtobabyhavoc and you get HMRC sorted @FourSeasonsLobelia
I may throw my lists at chatgtp @Peridot1 and see if they can focus me, I just have the whackamole approach at the moment.

watchPhone · 29/06/2026 09:52

I have an invite today to a local pool which is being re-opened after many years of closure, as one of a group of trial swimmers so am looking forward to that. @Mumtobabyhavoc a friend went to a gig in Glasgow and sent a video of pouring rain, the noise! I shared it round siblings Look Rain!!! @WinterFrogs - I am only sleeping with AHs post bites at the moment although the horse fly bites are largely disappeared.

Today

  • I have become a doom scroller! So I have had 30 mins this morning and now I am trying to crack on with some work (phone is banished to another room 😄)
  • After my 30 mins were up I managed to recycle all the coffee pods, empty the dishwasher (I GOT A THANK YOU!), set up a new painting by numbers, get the weeds out a gravel path edges, get the stuff I need to do some wood filling ready, remove all the empty shampoo/body washes from the bathroom, get my swimming stuff ready for later and said hello to my old efficient self
  • I have a new set of tester pots for painting blocks of colour on my bedroom; I need to do some prep though before actually redecorating😄
  • if time, trip to post office (I might delegate that task to sibling)
  • I need to find the misplaced debit card I found again yesterday
  • I have set up some meetings I have been procrastinating on
That's all for now, have a good day, SoE
Peridot1 · 29/06/2026 10:41

That’s so funny @RunningKatie. Love the randomness of village life!

I do feel guilty about my ChatGPT use as apparently it’s not very environmentally friendly but I have to say I do find it useful. It sorted my brain dump yesterday and definitely helped. It’s now acting as my project manager.

@watchPhone - you need to put that debit card on a bit of string around your neck! You seem to spend a lot of time looking for it 😄. And you have reminded me I have a paint by numbers kit I want to do. Do you use an easel?

watchPhone · 29/06/2026 12:39

@Peridot1 I KNOW!!! its currently frozen - I had it yesterday buying the SpiritDoggo an ice-cream in the park (she loves it and she does not have any adverse effects from it) so my fear is it has come out of my pocket on the grassy bank we were sitting on).

I use an adjustable desk that is on rollers so I can move it around (just a cheap one from hobbycraft) but I prefer it flat.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 29/06/2026 12:57

I did a @peridot1 and made a brain dump list! But ended up first doing two other tasks not on it, booking gp for D and holiday club ditto.

Guests are coming to stay at the end of the week and guest room is currently a dumping ground so have to do something about it.

Love these village moments!!

Peridot1 · 29/06/2026 14:41

Goat is still wandering…it gave up on the pub and is now in a garden by the pub.… reinforcements have been called…..apparently its owners are up off a main road and don’t want it back. Poor thing.

@SingleThreadJoiner2 - I have been known to write things on the list purely to tick them of if I have done something not originally on the list….

RunningKatie · 29/06/2026 16:41

Poor goat, that's not on.
I have lost my notebook of lists, it's panicking me, I'm sure I've had it today.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/06/2026 19:23

Just at playground with kiddos while my mum is now off for a surprise CT scan.

SoE, we used to get my ddog a vanilla cone when we went out for ice cream when I was a kid.

Love the goat and ponies posts. I can't imagine the goat's owners don't want the goat back. Surely they would claim it at some point?

OP posts:
Peridot1 · 29/06/2026 22:41

Goat apparently came from a traveller settled site….. anyway it’s now been caught and fed and watered and a friend of someone in the village who keeps goats already has collected it and it has new home. So all is well hopefully. It kept the village WhatsApp group active for the day for sure!

🐐🐐🐐

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/06/2026 23:15

Awww so glad goat has a new home with other goats. 🩷

I spent 2 1/2 hours in the garden this evening tidying and watering then picked peas and mint. Kids are still up and playing with a toy record player. ☺️
Had to strip kids outside as they were covered in dirt and mud. Hosed them off a bit then it was baths once we got back inside. They both picked peas and helped with watering and Baby found a few blueberries. We just has a little picnic inside with watermelon, peas, naan and hummus.
Time to get them into bed, though.

Have now folded and put the kids' clothes away so I could hang up the laundry that just finished. Went into the kitchen for some water and the mail stacked on the counter is out of control. I have to sort, file, toss it tomorrow. I have such an aversion to mail. 😔
