We are a kind and welcoming group supporting each other in our daily tasks to organize and declutter and stay on top of all that needs doing. We share our accomplishments and brain dump our to-do lists in a friendly chat over coffee manner. 😊☕️

It's all about coffee and tunes here when there is chaos to sort too @RunningKatie Hope you got it done and have time to relax a bit today 💐 (laughing at DC comments re your lattice pie - little toads 🤣)
Have s lovely weekend with the fam @SingleThreadJoiner2 💕
Omg with the green beans @Mumtobabyhavoc I too am Joey and everyone knows ( not off my plate, at least- pretty generous otherwise) I'd have probably laughed out loud 😆

All sounds fun @Peridot1 🥳 Restful one today?

Love to you @FourSeasonsLobelia ❤️

A very lazy one planned here today as last week was busy and next week is starting to look the same. Just the usual routine so i can tick stuff off list then chasing shade in the garden ( too lazy to read even - it's all anout the audiobooks) Might do some exercise before it gets hot.

☕️ 🍰 xx

Peridot1 · 21/06/2026 10:27

That’s great news @FourSeasonsLobelia.

@WinterFrogs - definitely a quiet one today!

Yesterday was laundry, some tidying and some weeding. A quick garden centre trip for a gift to take last night. Got a beautiful Cala Lily plant.

Today is more laundry and some watering of garden. That’s about it. I have a new cook book to peruse - The Salad Project. Although as it’s mainly about building salads I’m not sure there is too much cooking involved.

Have a great Sunday all.

WinterFrogs · 22/06/2026 07:16

Here we go! I think we're not even the hottest part of the country. Forecast is only 28c but it's 22c already.

Braced for a busy day. I have a list. It does not include cooking. Cold food all the way today. Is the book any good @Peridot1 ?

House wise my plan is clean shower while in it, run hoover round, make bed ( washed it all yesterday and put it back on) Check for clutter as going past charity shop later. Sweep and mop hard floors. Curtains and windows were open overnight. Will close all shortly. It does seem to help a lot.

Have some calls and emails to do then out and about in air conditioned car to air conditioned buildings so it should be ok ( grateful) I think I might need to iron today's clothes first.

Hope everyone has a great start to the week 😊 🥵

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/06/2026 08:34

Lobelia, it's good you and family can breathe a little bit re your mum. Positive energy your way it continues. 🩷🩷🩷
You are quite the busy one Froggy. 👏☺️
I've been reading about the heatwave there and have been on a couple of related threads.
Since having kids I can't tolerate heat.
Peridot, that cookbook sounds great! Anything jumping out grabbing your interest?

ugh, I just hit the wall... gotta put my phone down and sleep.

Busy day today! Am trying to avoid the news today 👀👀- if I looked I wouldn’t get any work done! We have had a team resignation as well (and we are happy about that one too 😆) Timer on today to stop me getting distracted.
Today

  • quick tidy up round upstairs: a man is coming to look at doing something with the loft space - maybe just a light up there, some storage space and boards (for now). I will need a bin bag 🤣
  • clear off sewing table - it is bunting time again
  • I think I have killed a plant in the border - foolishly tried to move it and it is looking super sad and droopy - also must water plants 🪴
  • need to update MFP with cals from yesterday and today
  • desk: must shred paper work
  • I am stalking my online payslip - I have a list of things I need to buy
  • SpiritDoggo is moping around - we have bowls of water for her everywhere but she is slumped under my desk asleep at the moment
thats all for now, have a good one, SoE
RunningKatie · 22/06/2026 14:21

We had another resignation at work last week @watchPhone edited to note your SoE altarego! - and I'm avoiding the news as I can't bear the political mess that the media has whipped up.
Dc1 has mocks this week, it's due to be 36 to 38 degrees, even in the North (must be capitalised as we're north of Watford Gap!), and they are prone to heatstroke. I don't anticipate it being a fun week at all.
Other than that, I've unearthed a stack of fancy beauty products and resolved to use a combination of them daily until they are gone or I get bored of the faff.
Glad to "see" @FourSeasonsLobelia - hope all stays ok before your trip.
Cooling thoughts to everyone!

Peridot1 · 22/06/2026 15:06

@Mumtobabyhavoc - I had a look through the book yesterday and it looks great. Lots of very tasty options. It’s by a woman who is the food consultant for a chain of salad restaurants in London. DH didn’t look too impressed by the title but had a look and found lots he liked the sound of. Lots of tips on what to keep in stock, yummy dressing recipes, meal planning around it and tasty extras to add in.

Link is here.

Peridot1 · 22/06/2026 15:11

I slept in a bit this morning and was woken by the doorbell at 8am. It was the electrician who I had totally forgotten was coming. So a bit of a quick start to the day. And clearing of bookshelves to move one and other items of furniture so he could get to switches and sockets.

Stripped my bed and washed the bedding. Have just had to take it in off the line as it was blowing like crazy. It’s hot here but really windy.

Did a quick supermarket shop for bread and chicken and some salad bits.

My kitchen is looking very cluttered so I’m about to tidy it. Then do a shopping list based on doing some salads from the book mentioned above.

Avoiding too much news as it makes me too cross.

Peridot1 · 23/06/2026 11:19

Morning all.

Warm already even though we had some rain last night and this morning.

I had planned on planting a few plants but it rained. Too hot now I think. Today might be a few bitty bits indoors. Under sink cupboard needs sorting as it’s a bit of a mess and I bought some new eco scourers which I need to fit in. Trying to reduce micro plastics a bit.

My ironing was dropped back yesterday so will put that away and some other laundry. Utility room still needs tidying so might do that too.

Hope everyone is well and not melting too much.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 23/06/2026 13:49

Hello all. Taking advantage of the sunshine and just put out a white wash to dry, especially my D's super grubby school shirts...

Also had a half hour call with fellow PTA mum to sort out things for the forthcoming summer fair. So many bits and pieces to coordinate! I think that will have to be today's extra job 😅

WinterFrogs · 23/06/2026 14:59

Hello all! We had the storm that everyone was talking about over on the weather board yesterday evening. I was woken around 4.30am by loud thunder and near tropical rain. On and off for a couple of hours. BBC weather on my phone didn't mention it at all! 31c and quite windy here now. Just in from work ( lovely air con again for some of it) and plan to put a wash on.
I have not even made the bed or cleared up breakfast. Am a bad Froggy!

You are so good being on the PTA @SingleThreadJoiner2 💐 I could never bring myself to go on committees of any sort, but in my defence I did always help at fetes and stuff.

Bitty bits here too @Peridot1 I need to look like I have done something when my beloved gets home. Having done a something I'll sit down with a book and hopefully not move far for the rest of the day.

Wishing you all peace and cool air 😘

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/06/2026 19:09

Peridot, you'll have to share which ones you make! I'll be interested in your results and reviews. 😋

It's a pleasant 23c here. Fans are on. Baby broke a tower fan a couple nights ago by inserting a magna tile 😲 into one of the slats and obliterated the blades inside. Thankfully not fingers. New fan bought at Costco yesterday. Grateful they had fans on sale. Plan is to set it up then take broken one to the recycling centre. Havoc is very excited to help. ☺️
Large load of laundry is on; I've folded and put away all the clothes washed yesterday morning; and have taken a call from a specialist for my mum and am awaiting a call back for an exam appt at the hospital.
I'll hang up laundry and help my mum have a bath, get the dc something else to eat, pack up the car and head out. Plan is spray park after recycling. I noticed a bit of sunburn on the back of my neck from spray park yesterday. I guess I missed a bit when I was applying sunscreen. 🤔

OP posts:
WinterFrogs · 24/06/2026 07:38

Morning all

Oh baby @Mumtobabyhavoc! Better the magna tile than fingers as you say! Hope mum got on all right and hope they loved the spray park.

Schools close at lunchtime around here today so I am charged with looking after littlest and keeping her cool until her parents can finish work.

Feeling very lazy today. Must get on and set the place straight and eat proper food before I lose the will in this heat. 34c is forecast. Bit of work this morning. Trying not to grumble as have it better than so many. And it's only for a few days.

Love to all 💐

FourSeasonsLobelia · 24/06/2026 09:25

Morning all.

Also glad that the magna tiles got blitzed not fingers!

I have to drive a fair bit this morning. My car's airconditioning doesn't really work, so i am making sure we stop for ice cold water regularly. Our school is not closing, just said that they will not enforce blazers and ties. A fair whack of the school is glass, so I am unconvinced.....

Hope everyone is well. Thanks

Peridot1 · 24/06/2026 10:04

Morning all.

Yikes @Mumtobabyhavoc! Glad no fingers were damaged in the experiment.

I didn’t get much of my list done yesterday. Too hot to do much. Spent a bit of time dressing/styling/titivating the top of the green sideboard with help of ChatGPT. Reorganised the cookery bookshelf. It’s organised by colour…… which apparently is the sign of a psychopath……. Makes me happy anyway!

We were out last night at a music festival with friends. Bit hot to start off with but cooled down nicely. Until we came home to a house that had been shut up for a few hours and felt like walking into the fires of hell… had to sit on the patio with a glass of wine till it cooled a bit.

Up early this morning and was out watering the garden before 7. Two loads of laundry done and on line. Well one is a duvet. May as well make use of the drying. Need to wash lots of bedding etc which has just been dumped on beds in spare room for a few months and sort linen cupboard. And DH has lost 20kg so dug out all the clothes that didn’t fit and they all need washing too. Dishwasher was a bit smelly so gave filter a good clean and have a cleaning cycle going.

Trying to organise next year’s Australia trip too. So looking at flights and accommodation options.

Have a not too hot day all.

WinterFrogs · 24/06/2026 12:36

🥵 is all i have to say. Hope you are surviving your drive @FourSeasonsLobelia

35c here

FourSeasonsLobelia · 24/06/2026 13:26

33 here today it tells me but it feels hotter.

Back from drive (essential errands) and have succumbed to the trick of shutting windows and crutains.... usually I keep everything open and love it, but it's a bit much today.

Successful errand trips though- went to get my laptop fixed at a town 40 minutes away. The computer guy waived any payment saying it was a super- quick fix, and besides I'd driven in this heat so i deserved it! I bought him an ice cream to say thanks. Now if only the garage could say the same and waive the cost of the new shock absorbers......... Grin

A day of life admin. But while I was waiting for the computer I popped into an antique shop and got a lovely black pearl necklace for the mother for when I see her. It was a good deal and I am very pleased as she adores pearls. I have already bought the father a very nice shirt- he is keen on clothes and fabrics and likes slightly quirky themes so hopefully the gifts will be a hit with both of them. I've also managed to hire a suit for DS1's forthcoming prom. So successes ahoy!

Best to everyone. Smile

FourSeasonsLobelia · 24/06/2026 13:28

Oh- @Peridot1 I saw in a House and Garden magazine once a bookshelf that was arranged by colour. I thought it looked most stylish. With the advantage that it can be chamged around for interest!

watchPhone · 24/06/2026 14:20

Hello, melting here and slogging over a hot keyboard. Had a presentation this morning which went unexpectedly well - was expecting to be slaughtered 😀So now I'm flopped like a deflated balloon with no energy and the timer is hidden for ever the rest of the day

Today

  • find a time to walk SpiritDoggo - it is quite cool in the park late afternoon, big trees and there has been a weird breeze; but she lets you know when she has had enough.
  • I've been bitten by horse flies. The itchiness!! I need to go and get some anti histamines - took one the other night and it knocked me out at 8pm!
  • gym kit needs washing
  • found a print I've been looking for for ages, so will buy tomorrow when I get paid (hurrah!). After all the bills are paid 😄
  • put clean clothes away - just looking at them is making me hot! do some washing and put out on line
  • need to prep for this afternoon's meetings and then I am done for the day 😄I think tomorrow is going to be our hottest day and then the weather will break.
That's all for now, have a good day, SoE
WinterFrogs · 24/06/2026 18:34

Well done with the presentation and sorry about the horsefly bites. They are so itchy aren't they.
Loratidine i find less likely to knock me out, if that's useful. Piriton and promethazine do make you drowsy ( I think promethazine-phenergan- is used off label as a sleep aid)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/06/2026 18:34

It's between 28c-30c inside here even though temp went down to 20c last night. The fans really make it tolerable and we all slept well.
Forecast is for rain by the weekend and temps down to 20c and below.

Laundry done last night and yesterday.
Busy tomorrow and Friday taking my mum to med appts. I think I'll get the kids out shortly. Soccer today. We play Switzerland.

RunningKatie · 24/06/2026 19:29

Good luck with the football team Canada!
Had to fetch smallest dc today after they wilted in the heat at school, it was actually lovely having them at home. No worrying about calpol, temperatures or anything, just popped them on the sofa with a fan and kept supplying cold drinks and snacks.
This weekend I'm doing my first reformer pilates class, I'm sure someone on here goes. Is it going to be very tricky?
Hope everyone is as cool as they can be!

WinterFrogs · 24/06/2026 20:40

It's our @watchPhone who does it @RunningKatie
Thinking of which, that is who I meant to tag in my last post.

I just casually strolled in to where DH is half heartedly watching the footy, and said oh Switzerland v Canada? He gave me a flabbergasted look as if to say who are you and what have you done with my wife??

I said well I know very surprising things 😆 (You don't have to know me well to know that most of the time I have no idea what is going on when it comes to sport) So thank you for helping me astonish the old man @Mumtobabyhavoc 😎

Kids are quite nice at that level of unwell aren't they @RunningKatie? It is unbelievably warm for England. I hope they feel better soon ( also hope that your dc survived the glasshouse @FourSeasonsLobelia )
Hope all the wilters feel better soon. I have finally found a cooling breeze, but I could have easily succumbed to a bit of a wilt two hours ago.

I took GD out in the car to get an ice cream and just to stay cool. We went to a local beauty/tourist spot where you can guarantee there'll be an ice cream van. I was surprised to see a lot of walkers ( pleased to say, no dogs or kids) where there is no shade and it's hilly too. Some bonkers people evidently thrive in this weather. Seemed like Death Valley to me but each to their own! At that point my car was telling me it was 36c.

It looks lovely outside now. Might go and breathe some air.

Hope you all get a decent night's sleep 😴

watchPhone · 24/06/2026 21:21

@RunningKatie it is me who does it! I would imagine if it is your first it will be a beginners class which are usually about getting used to the machine and other bits of equipment. Typically in a 45 in class we do 10 mins warm up which might be breathing exercises to settle you onto the bed, some foot work to warm up ankles, then 25 mins of core work - feet in straps - the leg circles everybody loves! Maybe some hand in straps work and some things using the box and platform and an explanation of the different springs and then finally cool down - sides stretches, roll downs, shoulders shrugs. Every exercise has a beginner stage with lots of modifications for any existing issues (if you have a tricky knee, hip etc) and intermediate / advanced options. I love it - it’s the only time my mind is quiet 🤣

Hope that helps.

watchPhone · 24/06/2026 21:24

Just had a Boots own brand AH and I have had to lie down after 5 mins @WinterFrogs 🤣
