DH and I don't have joint finances, but I would have noticed if he had that much extra cash to splash.

But there doesn't seem to be evidence against her though, so fair enough.

BIWI · 25/05/2026 15:00

Well, it was £400k over 12 years. He fooled everyone, even the accountants - I'm sure he had a good story that was plausible. Buying the motorhome on a lease basis, good trade-in value on another car, hire purchase - etc etc.

DH and I have never pooled our incomes. We put the same amount each into a joint account that takes care of all our household expenses, and what's left is our own. (If we hadn't have done this we would have been divorced before we even married Wink). So I genuinely would have had no idea what he was spending, and could have believed any of the above stories if told with enough 'panache'.

BIWI · 25/05/2026 15:01

I would have put more garlic into that hummus @placemats @Karistyleaftea - but then I'm a firm believer that you can never have too much!

Exactly the same as us. We don’t seem to be able to get through the day without an Amazon delivery but it’s not my money. I actually suggested once that he employed an assistant to take his parcels in.

I use my garlic for the tzatziki. I've tried more garlic in the hummus but it doesn't work. Not for me anyway.

Don't get me started on my ex. The suitcase I found in the attic full of socks, all tagged and never worn for a start 😔

littledrummergirl · 25/05/2026 20:28

@TemperanceWest I hope the fish were good.

Dh and I got home last night, ds2 had bought chicken pie for them and macaroni cheese for me so tonight's dinner was sorted.

I'm making a mushroom pate for tomorrow though.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 25/05/2026 20:38

I have been absent as I am currently living a vampire type life living in complete darkness ( just in case a sun ray gets me) and only coming to life in the evening as I cannot cope with this heat! It is definitely an age issue. I am so very disappointed I didn’t make enough money in my younger years to have an outdoor pool and full air- conditioning in the house. ( for the2 days I year I need them 🤣)
I have had to make do with loitering in supermarkets to use their air conditioning. I am probably on a supermarket watch list.

DuncinToffee · 25/05/2026 20:46

No aircon or pool here either.

We stocked up on fans over the last few years and they keep it reasonably cool.

We went for a bike ride thinking it cooled down enough but it hadn't really, I now have nettle stings and bites on my legs.

I have chosen the hottest day of the year to knit myself a very complicated hat made from yarn from a local alpaca farm. Why?

I have no words 🥵

I did some sewing on a pair of jammie bottoms, this morning, stopping at the point where I needed the iron. The embroidery didn't get touched until the sun had moved round far enough to open the curtains!

NEW: Reform UK’s Makerfield by-election candidate Robert Kenyon previously claimed women “can’t drive” and get abortions for “vanity purposes” to “shag anyone they want”

He admitted: “I’m sexist, sorry but I am”

It's all been kicking off on X between Reform and Restore over Makersfield as well @Notonthestairs

This post in that thread

If Andy Burnham has given us nothing else he has created a situation in which Danny Kruger has had to go on TV and defend his candidate claiming he wants to "smell and lick" Carole Vorderman's backside.

Ah. The importance of preserving the freedom to publish your sexual fantasies regarding famous women. 🙄 Grotty desperate little men.

Am sure Telegraph/Mail/GB News will report in full.

Reform's defence is now 'locker room banter'

Straight out of Trump’s playbook. He gets more ridiculous by the day.

They would say that, appears it’s a good get out clause for horrific views.
glad the fish was tasty temperance Best I’m sorry the knitting made me laugh hope it finished very soon, Pointy well impressed with dds drink making skills, very hot here again today thankfully I’m ok with the heat, it’s the cold that I find really difficult, Dh has been doing most of the cooking Ds bought him a fancy outdoor grill for Father’s Day last year which you can also air fry/bake/roast on tis his favourite toy.

PickAChew · 26/05/2026 09:04

Back to a more civilised 22, here, today. I may change my mind after a trudge around Ikea

I was wondering how long the banter excuse would take to surface.

placemats · 26/05/2026 09:38

So does that mean that if I call Reform voters stupid, sycophantic and ignorant bigots, I can just say that it's banter?
