It seems Musk is backing Restore for Makerfield now. Farage is incandescent. 😂

Glorious 😋

Exactly. Stupid men playing silly games with the country.

They have such big egos! I think Lowe actually believes Restore can replace Reform - I’m not sure there are sufficient out and out racists and dickheads to do this beyond locally where folk (very strangely!) like Lowe. I also think some voters aren’t really sure which is which party though! Musk’s cash could also be a big factor.

Hopefully they’ll ruin each other, but none are stupid, so that could change things at GE time - I tend (and hope) to think their hatred for each other outweighs practicality though. Then there’s the Tories to consider if they think of joining up - though they are pretty irrelevant right now.

Good morning!

A very important question for the thread.

I have two whole sea bass in the freezer which have been there either 9 months or 18 months. I forgot about them and can't remember if I bought them last year or possibly the year before.

They are vacuum packed.

Will they taste awful? I really fancy some grilled fish.

I’m probably not the best to ask but I’d use them - I’ve definitely used older - the one time it wasn’t great it was obvious pre-cooking.

I mean you need to use them - eat or bin - best get it out of the way today instead of looking in another 6 months and gaving the same dilemma!

There will be more health conscious and less irresponsible folk than I along shortly so caveat to my advice is maybe wait a bit for more answers lol!

DuncinToffee · 25/05/2026 08:24

I would use them too.

I’m very cavalier with use by dates. If it looks and smells all right we eat it.

TemperanceWest · 25/05/2026 08:28

I will defrost and see what they look like. They still seem a healthy colour at the moment.

Farage under mounting pressure to prove Russian hack claim
Reform UK leader claims ‘counter-espionage experts’ suggest state-sponsored hackers are behind disclosure of £5m gift

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/may/24/farage-mounting-pressure-prove-russian-hack-claim

If his phone has been hacked why wouldn't they leak messages/whatsapps?
It seems like a quite a limited reveal.
If there is nothing to see here why would revealing the £5 million payment mean anything?

placemats · 25/05/2026 08:56

Good morning @TemperanceWest . I'd definitely use them, despite watching Two Weeks in August - first episode BBC iPlayer.

Espionage is a matter of national security though, given that Farage is a sitting member of Parliament.

Notonthestairs · 25/05/2026 09:03

Well, Farage should hand over his phone to the authorities so they can investigate.

pointythings · 25/05/2026 09:15

The texture of the sea bass might not be the best due to freezer burn, but they're perfectly safe to eat. I suggest a hearty fish soup. Crusty bread, salad - where do you live again so I can pop round for dinner?

Apparently he got his own espionage expert to look at the phone.

The phone does need to be handed to Government security.

DuncinToffee · 25/05/2026 09:20

His own expert, bought with the £5m?

I was watching 'Dear England' the story of Gareth Southgate and the England team, last night.

The second episode briefly showed taking the knee and the reactions of Johnson, Farage, Starmer, the lost penalty shootout in the final and the racism the black players received.

I worry about this summer's world cup..

He is such a liar.

@pointythings might be a bit hot for soup! I am hoping the fish will be OK. I checked my online receipts to find when I bought it and it has been in there 10 months so 🤞

littledrummergirl · 25/05/2026 09:44

I'm vegetarian, so can't answer on taste. I would tell my lot to eat them though.
If the purpose of the fish was to sustain life, then you should allow it to fulfill it's destiny- if it's purpose was to make you sick, then again, it's destiny should be fulfilled.

To throw it away is a waste of a life.

littledrummergirl · 25/05/2026 09:46

I think the Canadan games will be ok.

It's on my watch list - fell asleep last night watching it 😴 however I will watch it.

Iranian team is being housed in Mexico.

FIFA has acknowledged that it's probably going to loose money in the USA.

It's 10am and already 23C. whisper it I love it!

Notonthestairs · 25/05/2026 10:09

It’s 28C here. I do not love it. Neither does my dog.

PickAChew · 25/05/2026 10:25

It's going to get proper 'ot up here, today, too. We collectively do not like it though I'm busy getting the laundry done.

BIossomtoes · 25/05/2026 10:29

I’m absolutely loving it. Having cancelled a Mediterranean holiday last week with the next one nowhere on the horizon I’ll take as much heat and sunshine as I can get. God knows, we don’t get much of it.

pointythings · 25/05/2026 10:36

I don't altogether hate the heat, but I'm working in the office tomorrow and that is going to be tough.

It drops to more sensible temps from Wednesday though.

I really hope its destiny isn't to make me sick 🤣
