Yep. Even more spitting than the recent thread about certain attractions offering concessionary tickets to some people.

I know, imagine treating your kids to a biscuit.

Bastarding Labour, trying at least to do something.

TemperanceWest · 21/05/2026 14:21

They could have cut VAT on cod-liver oil instead. Much healthier for the kids.

Of course this doesn't help any meaningful debate

Voters across parties believe UK net migration is rising despite sharp drop

.

Edited

People think it because all the media and right wing politicians talk about nothing else. People are forced to conclude it must be of growing importance because they never used to bang on about it so much, ergo they believe it’s increasing. So frustrating.

Really loved the sending up of Robert Jenrick in the HoC yesterday. Pure comedy gold.

"Where are we?, less than two years later, where are we?"

"You're in a different Party"

And

"You used to be over there." quipped Lib Dem MP Max Wilkinson much to the hilarity of the House. Brilliant! 😀

Frothing about this, as expected.

Cheaper theme park tickets and children's meals as VAT to be cut for some attractions this summer - BBC News https://share.google/snOIJ07ukTQBsy98m

Again? It’s not long since the last lot.

BIossomtoes · 21/05/2026 15:53

Wow.

Reform councillors claiming it’s undemocratic that they don’t know how the council works because they didn’t bother to find out. Imagine this but with national government. Car crash doesn’t come close.

The ones in Suffolk want 6 months of training before having to actually do anything. I despair.

TemperanceWest · 21/05/2026 16:17

Dear me.

dontcallmelen · 21/05/2026 16:30

Ffs these morons are just beyond comprehension, bloody they aren’t receiving any public money as they can’t be representing the constituency if they don’t how it works do hope the electorate are being made aware of these total numpties.
I read about those poor sisters last night, I cannot even begin to imagine the sheer scale of grief & loss for the parents & family just so unbelievably sad.

TemperanceWest · 21/05/2026 16:38

We don't understand what we were elected to do.

It has a familiar ring.

But we are not allowed to call them stupid.

dontcallmelen · 21/05/2026 16:42

Darren Jones & the rest of them really need to keep doing what he is doing, get the news out themselves as MSM & most journalists won’t & every fucking time a journalist/news reporter calls asylum seekers illegal immigrants they should be immediately corrected & called out.

dontcallmelen · 21/05/2026 16:59

Notonthestairs · 21/05/2026 11:33

I’d quite like to know where those people were following news - Facebook or GBNews maybe?

I also note the shifting goalposts used by Reform & the Tories. For all their posturing about the economy, they certainly are quite happy to damage it when it suits them.

Me too, The Tories we’re more than happy to decimate the country for fourteen years & wasting billions or giving billions to mates, buts that’s ok because they are Tories & have the Devine right to be our betters.

PickAChew · 21/05/2026 18:21

The greens had a candidate for Makerfield and then they didn't. Apparently they had already discounted one possible after The Times found their social media history.

TemperanceWest · 21/05/2026 18:33

The Greens and Reform don't have much luck with some of their candidates.

I wonder which party has been up to no good in Tameside?

TemperanceWest · 21/05/2026 18:52

The Mill, a Manchester-based publication, had investigated claims that individuals were encouraged to stand as independent candidates in the St Peter’s ward election in May to split opposition votes and benefit Labour.

From the Guardian.

DuncinToffee · 21/05/2026 19:13

Starmer is saying he will campaign for Burnham in Makerfield.

OP posts:
LizzieW1969 · 21/05/2026 19:19

I wonder what the voters in Makerfield will make of that? Will Starmer be a help or a hindrance to Burnham if he campaigns for him?

cardibach · 21/05/2026 19:34

It’s very gracious and shows why Starmer is a better PM than Burnham could ever be.

BIossomtoes · 21/05/2026 19:38

DuncinToffee · 21/05/2026 19:13

Starmer is saying he will campaign for Burnham in Makerfield.

Kiss of death. Streeting and Starmer are doing their level best to stitch him up.
