In the video, he hides in a fridge or in his case a German car.

Here's one for Kemi's fangirls lurking on this thread Smile

From fuel duty to sanctions, Kemi wants to make it clear how little she understands

It has to be said, Labours comms on this (and the media reporting) has been awful.
I certainly saw it (at first) as a relaxation of sanctions and so did Ukrainian politicians who were interviewed.

Telegraph (no surprise) saying Labour are weaking sanctions today.

Perhaps it would have been better never to have mentioned jet and diesel fuels & left it as "no change"

Notonthestairs · 21/05/2026 07:05

Well the Tories had quite the advantage understanding the sanctions given their very recent role drafting them.

Alexandra2001 · 21/05/2026 08:02

So much Labour do and achieve just gets swallowed up with negativity..., inflation down, growth up, the Gulf FTA.

Well done to Rachel Reeves for calling out that ridiculous and rude man who aggressively heckled her!

Efacsen · 21/05/2026 08:34

Off topic but so sad to see that the 3 women who drowned in Brighton were sisters - how can any parent survive a loss like that Sad

DuncinToffee · 21/05/2026 08:35

And instead of calling out the abuse, Farage offered him a pint and Yusuf a peerage.

No surprise there is no decency coming from them.

I saw that Efacsen, so sad.

And MN let that thread stand.

BIossomtoes · 21/05/2026 08:38

It’s absolutely tragic @Efacsen. Those poor, poor people.

Notonthestairs · 21/05/2026 08:40

Yes, that thread was pretty dreadful in parts and begun with the most obvious motives.

Their father’s statement was very moving. I can’t imagine the loss.

The UK migration numbers are to be released.

The UK migration numbers are to be released.

Down by 48%.

Dreadful.

Notonthestairs · 21/05/2026 09:59

So people should be happy, yes?
They wanted lower migration and now they have it.

They wanted austerity (2x), they wanted Brexit, they wanted lower migration.
(all things that have damaged our economy but ho hum).

They should be delighted.

Asylum claims down 12%

Asylum hotels numbers down by a hird.

But the hotel shouters won't know or care.

They probably think the government is lying.

DuncinToffee · 21/05/2026 10:09

On emigration

Emigration was 642,000

Most people emigrating are foreign nationals - including students.

246,000 British nationals emigrated. British emigrants include a significant no of naturalised dual nationals, from Poland, Romania and Bangladesh + a smaller number of those born in UK going to eg UAE/Dubai

Must be all those millionaires Confused

OP posts:
DuncinToffee · 21/05/2026 10:16

As expected, the immigration stats show that the asylum backlog is now down to to 35,744 cases, which is just under 49,000 people. Lowest since pre-covid.

And there were 20,855 people in hotels at the end of March - which is down a third since the time of the election.

DuncinToffee · 21/05/2026 10:20

This is a disgrace imo

Family reunion visa grants are down 43%. Afghan resettlement arrivals down 77% compared to a year earlier. Both schemes have effectively been shut since last summer/autumn.

PickAChew · 21/05/2026 10:36

Detractors will only be satisfied if the numbers are zero. Then there are the ones who want repatriation. Even for people born in the UK.

Edited

I’d quite like to know where those people were following news - Facebook or GBNews maybe?

I also note the shifting goalposts used by Reform & the Tories. For all their posturing about the economy, they certainly are quite happy to damage it when it suits them.

Their father’s statement was very moving. I can’t imagine the loss.

He's obviously and rightly extremely bereft at the loss of his beautiful daughters. So incredibly tragic and traumatic. Yet still he holds on to the beautiful memories.

PickAChew · 21/05/2026 14:02

Frothing about this, as expected.
