The anti Burnham briefing is all over MN.

But don't mention Farage and/or Kenyon.

I’m anti all 3 of them!

That just shows how terrified of him they are. I’m finding it quite entertaining.

Someone asked me the other day why I said Reform voters want to believe Farage’s lies. This articulates it quite well.

Nothing sums up the death of accountability like the prospect of Nigel Farage in No 10 | George Monbiot

You’d expect the public face of Brexit to be punished by voters. But history shows that such leaders often profit from the chaos they sow, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

They don't seem to have much on Burnham apart from him having a big ego, doubts about his jogging and not being anti-trans people.

Yes, me too. The pretence that he’s a ‘man of the people’, pint in his hand, when he’s nothing of the sort. Too bad it won’t be forever.

Puzzling, though, when Reform were supposedly going to go all out to beat Burnham in the Makerton by-election.

Haha - this man of the people Schtick - can’t understand why anyone falls for it. I always imagine he goes home to a double G&T paired with a Cuban cigar and just laughs at those who fall for it - odious being.

He apparently has a weakness for red wine - they call him “Red Lips” in the US.

This is a good article.

The hiding, then differing explanations, of this donation has smacked to me of Trump and his supporters- they literally don’t care what lies are told whatsoever and Nige is so not bothered about anyone/anything he just spouts this rubbish careless of it meaning anything at all - his cult will still cult.

Scary.

Ah - I will have to update my image of him - thank you lol. Expect it’s not a 2 for a tenner from the local!

The Telemail is a bit rattled by Burnham:

Current odds are interesting:

Those odds are a surprise @TemperanceWest

Thanks for the link to the Torygraph - smacks of panic to get Tories to vote Reform.

Are there any left?

There are a few left on MN 🦜ing away. 😄

Eta: Those odds for Makerfield are a bit humiliating for Badenough. The Tories came third in the GE.

@BIossomtoes I was told by a senior now retired politician that Farage really does prefer red wine and a cigar.
His beer swilling man of the people act is just as false as BJ's ruffled mop of hair and "harmless friend to everyone " act in my opinion.
I think the media bear great responsibility for this destabilisation in our UK politics currently.
What spite there is in not reporting the good news and successes the government actually has had.
On QT last week Fiona Bruce seemed to delight in telling the audience member that "Mr Bean" was not real when it definitely seemed to me and others of my family who were watching it that she misheard and he was actually referring to Andy Burnham as "Mr B."
No apology , just sneering.

New role Grin

Reform UK advertises for vetting officer to help ensure 'highest standards' amongst candidates

Saucery · 20/05/2026 16:42

That should keep someone very busy indeed Grin

I think what Peston means is that they didn’t check the existing position before leaping in to comment.

He couldn't quite get himself to say that

OP posts:

The alternative is that they knew what the existing position is and thought they’d be able to score a cheap point without mentioning anything to the public.

Just like the UC stats.

placemats · 20/05/2026 19:32

Thought this interesting and I do wonder what the poll numbers were. Low I would assume.
