He should still have proof read it…

Agreed.

Spiteful as ever, then.

Oh, ffs. She should be praising him. He actually sounds decent and sensible.

Very spiteful of Badenoch. I’m pleased to hear they were able to work together to keep Reform out.

TemperanceWest · 14/05/2026 16:48

Is Badenoch sucking up to Farage in the hope she can cling on to his coat-tails in the future?

Notonthestairs · 14/05/2026 16:53

The Tories have referred Farage to Parliamentary Privileges Committee regarding the £5 million I think - and possibly Jenrick regarding the US fraudster donation I linked to above.

Maybe Farage would overlook it if Badenoch is ditched for someone else? Cleverly? Lam?
I dont suppose Braverman has forgotten that Badenoch suggested she had MH issues.
Not convinced Jenrick and Badenoch would be allied given his photocopier fuck up.
But who knows. Didnt she suggest a vote for Reform is a vote for her?

littledrummergirl · 14/05/2026 16:54

Am I understanding this correctly.
Conservative local leader does his job by doing what is best for the people he was elected to serve on a local level, and the leader of his party fires him for doing his job?

@placemats is there still a shop that has handmade ice cream lollies in Taormina? DH still reminisces about them.

It's a big place with lots of streets and everyone seems to sell ice-cream/gelato.

We went to two restaurants for gelato. Both delicious - one was with a pancake.

Sorry to not be more helpful.

That's just crazy! My sister will be very annoyed.

countrygirl99 · 14/05/2026 17:12

@placemats if you'd seen it you'd know you had. They only did lollies. But gelato is wonderful.

placemats · 14/05/2026 17:17

Just to add. I'm having problems with Mumsnet today. I complained strongly and suddenly everything is good. I'll be logging out now. Good to see the lovely photos. Good to be home as well, despite the fact that it's absolutely freezing cold!

Can Burnham win there? I’m assuming the other parties will go all out.
Harborne will probably move back to the UK to slap another £5 million in the Reform 🪣

Josh Simons, Makerfield MP has announced he is standing down for Burnham

https://bsky.app/profile/peterwalker99.bsky.social/post/3mlt7n7xed22i

Will be ironic if Burnham doesn't get in. Not a huge majority in 2024, going by the comments.

littledrummergirl · 14/05/2026 17:28

Burnham can fuck right off. If Labour really is intending to self destruction then go for either of these two fuckwits (Burnham and Streeting). Neither will have put the country first, or shown any loyalty to anyone except themselves.

Labour need to get a grip now, or they are opening the door to facism.

It is a risk. Labour got 18,202 in 2024, Reform came second with 12,803. Given how well Reform is doing...

The electorate might not appreciate being used as pawns.

DuncinToffee · 14/05/2026 17:28

Majority of 5,500 in 2024, not looking very good.

Simons is the former director of Labour Together, the think tank set up by Morgan McSweeney as an anti-Corbyn vehicle.

Could not agree more. This is not the way to do things.

cardibach · 14/05/2026 17:32

I don’t get the Burnham love. He wasn’t to my taste as a cabinet minister, and even standing for this seat (and resigning as mayor) shows he’s more interested in his career than completing commitments. Plus he still needs NEC permission. And as others have said it’s not a particularly safe seat.
As I’ve paraphrased elsewhere, he’s not the messiah he’s a very arrogant boy

DuncinToffee · 14/05/2026 17:37

He doesn't have to resign as mayor until he is actually elected, I think.

Burnham gets quite a bit of support on my timeline but not so much on this.
