Im shocked whatever one’s opinion on immigrants the laughing comments on dead children is truly horrific. One lady says best thing I’ve read all week’ !one click in her profile and it shows she’s a mum with kid herself. This is the ITV news page! I don’t even recognize this country anymore?

the amount of horrible comments. They are children, human beings. Truly horrific times we are heading into with a lack of empathy I thought I’d never seen given the history of WW2 as I said whatever opinions are on the Boats laughing at dead children and the comments is unsettling

It’s disgusting
like the ones who comment “deport them” on every photo of someone who isn’t white
mate he’s from Blackburn, where you deporting him to?!

MabelRoyds · 03/05/2026 14:55

The latest stabbings that have been very distressing, the young man on Primrose Hill, and Golders Green, have both added to an inflammatory situation. People are scared and upset, and don’t feel that anyone cares.

I understand that, but the same people who probably think Farage will save the country when he spent his youth spreading vile anti semtitic comments are the ones laughing. These are children. I think it’s more racism a pure hate encouraged by certain politicians, certain media and influencers in the UK have a lot to answer for as well.

It’s really sad. I agree that it’s horrific. Regardless of the wider political discussions, people have died. Children have died in an awful way. They had no choice in that.

ShakyBake · 03/05/2026 15:05

Definitely, no need for nasty comments and no excuse for it
People are absolutely fed up of the country no doubt about it and a lot of anger out there. Mass migration without integration has not worked but it needs to be addressed in a sensible way.

Girlwithapple · 03/05/2026 15:05

I never read the comments but when these news stories pop up on my Facebook feed, I do see the reaction emojis, including 😂 faces. It really makes me question that anyone would find someone's death funny.

If that’s what people are thinking then it hasn't just occurred to them
That’s racism at their core.

kids on boats have nothing to do with attacks here

What have the stabbings got to do with children who have drowned? There simply isn’t any justification for laughing about kids dying.

Hallywally · 03/05/2026 15:39

Many people are tribalistic and “other” those they deem not to be the same as them and see them as less than human. You only have to look at all the wars around the world to see a disregard for human life or an active attempt to eradicate the “others”. We might think we’re more civilised in Europe, but this attitude isn’t limited to any particular race/ethnicity/religion etc. Doesn’t make it “right” or any less deplorable of course.

usedtobeaylis · 03/05/2026 15:40

I agree. The visibility of Alan Kurdi should have changed everything but instead society has become ever more vicious.

BerryTwister · 03/05/2026 15:55

Some people are vile, no doubt about it. But the way that immigration has been handled is at the heart of this problem. People aren’t born nasty. But the COL crisis in this country makes them angry. And then they look at what immigrants/asylum seekers are reportedly given, and they feel more angry and resentful. This anger leads them to turn on those who they perceive to be benefiting at their expense. It’s essentially what happened in Germany in the 1930s.

Many people these days see “immigrants” as illegal, unskilled, criminal, unwilling to integrate, deceitful, and basically out for what they can get. They don’t see them as valuable members of society who can contribute to our economy and services.

ProudAmberTurtle · 03/05/2026 15:57

What Facebook group are you in in which they laugh about dead children, and why are you still in it?

So do these people treat all those not working in this country the same way
?

You don't have to be in a group for news items to come up on your feed.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 03/05/2026 16:01

I find it so weird that some of the Facebook people will fall apart at a dog suffering but laugh gleefully at brown children suffering 🤢🤢🤢

Good point. I've asked for a link to the comments about the dead children so we can mass report

It's odd though - children don't tend to be on the boats, usually it's adults?

I understand you feel more comfortable labelling others as hateful racists rather than giving them any consideration as people with feelings.

There was a long thread here protesting that the psychopath who stabbed innocent people in Golders might have hurt his head when he was was being apprehended. In Our society those that care about murdering psychopaths being arrested in à non - genteel way, regard people that disagree with their views as ‘hateful’ and label them with a catch - all term - ‘ racist’ - that rounds them up neatly and dismisses them as ‘ worthless’.

The hypocrisy is evident to all except those spouting it.

16% of passengers are under 17. There was a photo, years ago of a poor little boys body washed up on the shore and people said never again then. Now they laugh at the posts of dead children.

Do you not think it racist and hateful to laugh at people dying? Or does it only count if the dead isn't a different colour to you?

LassiKopiano24 · 03/05/2026 16:10

It’s absolutely awful the comments I see, and they are never deleted. Absolute racist scum.

Plummagic · 03/05/2026 16:12

Anyone laughing at the death of any child is a cunt.

A woman died recently as well

What have these attacks got to go with the boat crossings? People are scared and upset so are allowed to laugh and celebrate when children of another race have died?? You seem to be looking to excuse them.

Not sure how you were raised, but in my book there is nothing that could excuse a celebratory reaction to any child dying. Personally I hope karma gets each and everyone one of these vile racists.
