Im shocked whatever one’s opinion on immigrants the laughing comments on dead children is truly horrific. One lady says best thing I’ve read all week’ !one click in her profile and it shows she’s a mum with kid herself. This is the ITV news page! I don’t even recognize this country anymore?

the amount of horrible comments. They are children, human beings. Truly horrific times we are heading into with a lack of empathy I thought I’d never seen given the history of WW2 as I said whatever opinions are on the Boats laughing at dead children and the comments is unsettling

Do you not think it racist and hateful to laugh at people dying? Or does it only count if the dead isn't a different colour to you?

I don’t think in labels that dehumanise people, no.

What have the stabbings got to do with children who have drowned? There simply isn’t any justification for laughing about kids dying.

Connect the dots and you might discover life makes more sense to you. Or, just attack people you don’t understand, I guess that’s easier.

Good point. I've asked for a link to the comments about the dead children so we can mass report

It's odd though - children don't tend to be on the boats, usually it's adults?

I mean this one has a lot of disgusting comments as you can see from the first one

That opinion is racist
It is treating people on the boats as collectively responsible for atrocities happening here.

That’s the same mindset as those abusing U.K. Jewish people.

Racism breeds hate

It’s mostly males but not exclusively. You only need to use Google to see news reports of children being transported in boats across the channel. 36 children died in the last two years alone. Anyone laughing at that really has no empathy at all, whatever side of the debate they’re on.

emuloc · 03/05/2026 16:34

CheeseyOnionPie · 03/05/2026 16:21

What have these attacks got to go with the boat crossings? People are scared and upset so are allowed to laugh and celebrate when children of another race have died?? You seem to be looking to excuse them.

Not sure how you were raised, but in my book there is nothing that could excuse a celebratory reaction to any child dying. Personally I hope karma gets each and everyone one of these vile racists.

It is unbelievable that there are people who will use anything to excuse such disgusting, vile behaviour. How anybody could laugh at children dying like that, is beyond me. How can people seek to try, and justify that?

How about answering the question instead of trying to deflect.

What Facebook group are you in in which they laugh about dead children, and why are you still in it?

I’m not in those groups! ITV news channel came up!! Read my post

I see you eschew insights other than those lacking nuance.

let’s hope it brings you joy and solves all the complex issues at play here to think merely in polarisations.

Ah, now you harangue. Quelle surprise. Black and white thinking and haranguing. What a combo.

People forget that we all just one large disaster from being desperate migrants too, it could then be their children

Women and children. Laughing comments have been aimed at both recently. What are you trying to get at?

Still weird to laugh at people dying children or not

They weren't laughing at dead children. It was two adults who died.

The comments were bad enough - you didn't need to misrepresent them, particularly when emotions are so high. It's irresponsible.

Exactly - the comments were so bad that they didn't need to be embellished

So do these people treat all those not working in this country the same way
?

@Stirabout do you mean do they treat British nationals who don’t work the same way? Possibly, but most people accept we have an obligation to care for our own nationals. They question the need to spend public money on immigrants entering the country with no means to support themselves. For some people, the unfairness that they perceive makes them brutally angry.

I’m not justifying it, I’m just explaining it.

BippityBopper · 03/05/2026 16:51

BerryTwister · 03/05/2026 15:55

Some people are vile, no doubt about it. But the way that immigration has been handled is at the heart of this problem. People aren’t born nasty. But the COL crisis in this country makes them angry. And then they look at what immigrants/asylum seekers are reportedly given, and they feel more angry and resentful. This anger leads them to turn on those who they perceive to be benefiting at their expense. It’s essentially what happened in Germany in the 1930s.

Many people these days see “immigrants” as illegal, unskilled, criminal, unwilling to integrate, deceitful, and basically out for what they can get. They don’t see them as valuable members of society who can contribute to our economy and services.

Edited

Regardless of if they are deemed "valuable members of society" laughing at the death of innocent children is not justifiable. People can be as angry as hey like about the situation, but the hateful comments are sadistic and inhumane.

It was a 16 yo girl, so a child, and a 20 yo woman. Not that it matters, you’ve got to be bloody sick to laugh about anyone who has drowned.

This is not true.

We don't know the ages of the two that died - just that they are both believed to be about 20 and Sudanese.

Yes it's sick to joke about someone who's just drowned but it's also sick to lie about who they were.

usedtobeaylis · 03/05/2026 17:03

'Fighting age men' has to be one of the worst phrases ever tossed into refugee and asylum discourse.

bestcatlife · 03/05/2026 17:04

I’d assume they’re all bot accounts, then again I’m sure there are a lot of real people with these views.

So Utopia 56, the French Organisation for Refugees who have said one victim was 16 and one was 20 are lying? Ok!
