Im shocked whatever one’s opinion on immigrants the laughing comments on dead children is truly horrific. One lady says best thing I’ve read all week’ !one click in her profile and it shows she’s a mum with kid herself. This is the ITV news page! I don’t even recognize this country anymore?

the amount of horrible comments. They are children, human beings. Truly horrific times we are heading into with a lack of empathy I thought I’d never seen given the history of WW2 as I said whatever opinions are on the Boats laughing at dead children and the comments is unsettling

I would be wary of that source but did wonder why the news didn’t explicitly state they’d drowned.

If they were killed by the men on the boat then that is absolutely horrific and they ALL must be held in some kind of detention centre until they can be returned.

This is getting beyond a joke now, how much risk are women here expected to tolerate for the sake of men who aren’t citizens of our country?

I read the boat was overloaded with 82 people and they likely suffocated
There was never any reports of them drowning

@BerryTwister They are given accommodation and given free nhs, dental, clothing, phones.

If it’s a hotel and meals are provided they get money each weekendnot sure of the exact amount . If they are housed where no food ls provided like in a hotel setting they get a bit more to buy food.

ilovebrie8 · 04/05/2026 12:07

I know someone working in one of the hotels…they eat better than we do.

Greenwitchart · 04/05/2026 12:34

It is horrific.

Some people have stopped seeing immigrants as human beings.

I believe the blame is also on politicians and the right wing media who are constantly demonising asylum seekers and immigrants in general.

Farage, Robinson and the Daily Mail help spread hate and misinformation.

With a rape every week though and in some cases murder (RIP Rhiannon), it’s hard to argue against them. I want to but it’s hard.

FB really is a cesspit. Every news article, whether local or national has people blaming the immigrants coming over on boats, it’s absolutely ridiculous. It doesn’t matter what the issue is, COL crisis, small businesses struggling, crime, new houses being built on green belt land, there is ALWAYS someone blaming ‘boat people’.

Really? YOU choose to eat how YOU eat. This is a such a ridiculous comment! 🙄

ilovebrie8 · 04/05/2026 17:19

No it’s not ridiculous.

if you are on a tight budget and can’t afford to just buy what you want and have to scrimp! Food costs are sky high at present unless that’s passed you by!!

They have a full range on offer at the hotel and some …no expense spared…meanwhile people I know are at food banks.

I know first hand what’s going on…

PolkaDotPorridge · 04/05/2026 19:12

@ilovebrie8 you know someone or you have first hand experience. Which is it? In any case, it’s nothing to do with other families and how they eat. Stop frothing.

ilovebrie8 · 04/05/2026 19:23

Hilarious 🤣 !! I’m not the one frothing 🙄 the only thing I froth these days is my cappuccino with my little whisk!

I know someone working in a hotel and what is going on there…from the horses mouth you may say.

You need to remember that:

  • it is not illegal to claim asylum and all countries have to assess claims and tale on their fair share of asylum seekers
  • people who claim asylum have to be housed somewhere while their claims are looked at
  • they are human beings and therefore require food and water...

No idea why in a decent society this basic facts would bother you so much.

Also maybe the person you know who supposedly work in one of these hotels would do well to remember that they might not have a job if the hotel management was not paid to house these immigrants....

How on earth is that rude?! 🤣

You think stating facts is "rude'? OK...

ilovebrie8 · 06/05/2026 09:18

@Greenwitchart The tone your post was incredibly rude and condescending to say the very least.

There is no “supposedly working” as you put it…I know someone working in a hotel that’s a fact, obviously I can’t name it! I know what is going on and it’s eye watering I’ll leave it at that.

I won’t be engaging with rudeness any further …so there you have it!!!

Most staff were sacked and lost their jobs when it was taken over for immigrants …so a big loss of jobs for all the locals as a result. He was one of very few kept on. So it is a net loss to the area’s employment not a gain by any stretch. Never mind the loss of tourists spending who used to stay in said hotel. So do get real before spouting off. 🙄 You were wildly off the mark with that nasty comment.

He already had a job before it was taken over and if it had not been taken over he’d have been working with his friends most longstanding and catering for weddings, parties but now it’s changed use.
