Im shocked whatever one’s opinion on immigrants the laughing comments on dead children is truly horrific. One lady says best thing I’ve read all week’ !one click in her profile and it shows she’s a mum with kid herself. This is the ITV news page! I don’t even recognize this country anymore?

the amount of horrible comments. They are children, human beings. Truly horrific times we are heading into with a lack of empathy I thought I’d never seen given the history of WW2 as I said whatever opinions are on the Boats laughing at dead children and the comments is unsettling

It will be the same morons laughing who voted for Brexit and caused this problem with boats in the first place. You know, the ones calling people clowns and sheep if they're not voting Reform. The ones with all the spelling and grammar mistakes. And 11 teeth.

@BippityBopper indeed they are. As I said, I’m not justifying it, I’m explaining it. People under pressure do hateful things. In Nazi Germany people turned on their friends and neighbours. Successive governments have allowed us to sleepwalk into this situation.

I don't want to understand people who laugh about dead women and children or people who excuse that behaviour.

The ITV News report specifically says both the victims are believed to be in their 20s

And people were still laughing about their deaths and we have posters here excusing it.

I haven't seen anyone excuse it.

But lying about people who have just died - calling them children when they are in their 20s - in order to score political points is sick and is disrespectful to the two who died.

There are very few “children” arriving on these boats. The absolute vast majority are adult men. Not women. Not children. Most of them are not from war torn countries. They’re also uneducated with no background checks etc. People are incredibly naive to the true situation. These are not starving refugees from war torn countries 🤣

People who bang on most about how most of them are men have never seemed to stop and actually ask what the figures are, or why, or read any of the research done into who travels and why and what the objective is. They just guess and ascribe the worst possible motivations.

Do you really know what you do if you felt desperate? What makes you so different to every other parent who thought they would never do it either?

If you live in a nice middle class area where the only immigrants you encounter are decent hardworking people who actually want to integrate, then you have absolutely no idea what it’s really like.

I had no idea who Alan Kurdi was. I watch the news daily and it completely passed me by.

Ultimately, whatever the moral arguments (and I don’t get frothy about the small boat, I don’t care either way), the parents chose to take the risk and it doesn’t always pay off. Sad but true.
