Support and solidarity after antisemitic stabbings in North London

xabimunich3 · 29/04/2026 14:05

Apologies if there's already a thread, I couldn't see one.
Two Jewish men have been stabbed in North London, one outside some shops and another outside a synagogue. According to Sky News the suspect has been tasered and arrested after trying to also attack police officers.
Once again, we have another attack on Jewish people trying to go about their lives. I'm not Jewish but send my support and solidarity to all Jewish people who must feel very scared and vulnerable at the moment. I've already donated to the Campaign Against Antisemitism but I'd love to hear any ideas about how to do more, I just feel so disgusted and outraged that this is happening.

If you want to donate more or in the future you can donate to the CST. https://cst.org.uk/

It’s an absolutely horrific attack. My thoughts are with them, their families and their community. Flowers

LoremIpsumCici · 29/04/2026 14:17

Frightening times for our community.
The world is less stable and the effect of the wars in the Middle East are being felt at home.

Thank you Relop, I've made a donation to them now too. I'm so sick of hearing about these incidents, we all need to stand up and say enough is enough.

You know how earlier generations warned us about this but when you’re younger you almost dismiss it? One of the worst things is the relief that they’re not here anymore to be proved right, to see it all unfolding exactly like it always does.

coulditbeme2323 · 29/04/2026 14:24

And there will still be those who defend them.

We can't say we haven't been warned.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 29/04/2026 14:25

Dreadful I hope the men are doing well.

Teacaketravesty · 29/04/2026 14:27

I am so sad to read this, I hadn’t heard.

Yes, I would suggest CST rather than CAA I'm Jewish and not a fan of theirs aa I think they sometimes do more harm than good.

I'm glad that so many people are horrified by this and also that this far in this latest escalation these attackers have proved relatively or entirely ineffectual in causing harm but of course the actual harm is secondary to the fear and alarm it causes.

I'm interested to know whether there are any signs of particular messaging from any quarters (and I wouldn't guarantee which, it could as much Russia as it is Iran, or both or God knows something else) coming through to people suggesting that attacks on Jews is somehow a way to strike at Israel
NB, Netanyahu and his ilk don't care in the slightest about what happens to the diaspora, unless they can make hay out of it

Absolutely. My lovely, kind, gentle little neighbour (now sadly passed) was a holocaust survivor.
He used to go into schools and talk to kids about his experiences, I can't help thinking about how horrified he'd be that this is getting worse again. It feels like such a slap in the face to everything he went through, and everything he tried to achieve with his work. I'm so upset thinking about him.

Yesterday I went to pick up my son from his (Jewish) school. Heavy security, huge gates, several security guards. Then I started to worry that once they leave the school there is no security and dozens of boys leaving at once is quite a target. Then I told myself to stop being an idiot and stop worrying so much.

Hope the victims have a full recovery.

You are not being an idiot.

I don't want to live in fear, but they hate us.

ArtAngel · 29/04/2026 14:35

Standing in support against this vicious hate.

As much as that is worth.

But I do challenge anti-semitism wherever I see it.

Horrified for the families and communities affected by this.

AcquadiP · 29/04/2026 14:36

This is appalling. British Jews should be able to go about their lives without the fear of being attacked.

Exactly and always this.

Thing is, I don't see this this as 'it happening again'. It's awful, but it's a very different phenomenon to my mind and I find it unhelpful to treat it that way.

Let's call it what it is - all of the attacks that have happened in the last year or two have related to extreme Islamism (and I'll be fairly surprised if this one is not as well). And I mean that it is extreme, it does not represent the vast majority of Muslims at all and I absolutely do not want Muslim people treated with prejudice in some way to 'protect Jewish people'. But that's what this surge of attacks is connected to.

The government and authorities are not enacting anti Jewish policies or giving any sign they plan to do so, in fact they are bending over backwards to help us, and the mainstream media is also very supportive. Which is very, very structurally different from What Happened Before.

I'm not certain what the answer is, other than it must not be to harm once group of people in the name of protecting another , which is wouldn't achieve anyway.

Do you feel like the Labour government is supporting you? I’m not getting a sense of that personally, but I’m glad if you feel like it.

Dollymylove · 29/04/2026 14:57

@EvangelicalAboutButteredToast perhaps the Muslim communities could be more pro-active in wheedling out those who wish Jewish people harm

DangerQuakeRhinoSnake · 29/04/2026 14:57

Awful, but unfortunately do think it was only a matter of time before direct attacks were made on Jewish people. The apathy thus far from those in power has been pretty clear.

Keir Starmer says the attack is "deeply concerning", apparently.

Deeply fucking concerning???

It's like we're arrogant enough to believe that history could never repeat itself.

I work for a Jewish-run business in the same area as this attack. I worry for my colleagues and am always conscious of shutting the swipe-access doors behind me whenever I leave the office. It's a frightening environment and I can walk away from it at the end of the day. My colleagues can't.

DeposedPresident · 29/04/2026 15:05

Support and solidarity.

I have donated to the CST after the Manchester attack where 2 men died and the Bondi Beach massacre.

The people who shout 'Globalise the Intifada' this is what it looks like, you fools.

loislovesstewie · 29/04/2026 15:36

I truly never thought I would live to see the day when Jewish people in the UK would be attacked and murdered. We have learnt nothing.
Sending support and solidarity
