Where in the name of jaysis does my neighbour be going?

I am working from home the past few weeks and my desk is at the front of the house beside the window. My next door neighbour does not work, has no car, has no kids and I never see friends popping in to see him either yet about 20 times a day he leaves the house and comes back all in under maybe 10 mins per time. We do not have shops close enough for him to be going to so it is not to there and he is not gone long enough to exercise and has no dogs to walk just in and out the whole time all day. Baffling to me. Irritating too cos my ring doorbell goes off each time too.

Totally pointless thread cos nobody can know where he is going but jesus h christ its sooooooooooo many times a day. My dog barks every single flipping time too. Yes I will be happy to be back in the office next week!

Maybe he pops out to the nearest place he can pick up a free WiFi signal, to send/receive emails?

LimbOnTheTreeTheTreeInTheHoleTheHoleInTheGround · 28/04/2026 14:02

If he's long term unemployed then it could well be for physio. I can only walk 15 minutes at a time now. It used to only be 5 since in had a stroke.

I hope your yappy dog is being looked after while you're at work so your poor neighbour doesn't have constant barking every time someone walks past your house.

TFImBackIn · 28/04/2026 14:04

Drug dealer?

Pinkywoo · 28/04/2026 14:07

Having sneaky cigarettes where his wife can't see him?

KittyWilkinson · 28/04/2026 14:07

Dead letter drop. Is his name George Smiley?

wishfulthinking25 · 28/04/2026 14:12

Smoking something he shouldn’t be?

RomainingCalm · 28/04/2026 14:15

Michael Mosley's 10-minute exercise regime?

evilharpy · 28/04/2026 14:16

Some sort of step challenge?

Amsylou · 28/04/2026 14:16

I play pokemon go and often wonder close by to the nearest virtual pokestop so often pop out for 5/10 mins and wonder what the neighbours think 😂

wishingonastar101 · 28/04/2026 14:20

Drugs. Or his loo is blocked and he's going for a sneaky tree wee. But probably drugs.

DeskGnome · 28/04/2026 14:21

Could be dealing really.

7238SM · 28/04/2026 14:21

TFImBackIn · 28/04/2026 14:04

Drug dealer?

My thoughts too.

MabelRoyds · 28/04/2026 14:22

I would wildly hypothesise that his isolation hasn’t done him any favours and his mental health has suffered and he is under the cosh of an OCD ritual.

Smoking something he shouldn’t be?

I was going to say this. Or drinking. We have 1 neighbour that smokes weed outside our house and another one that hides bottles of vodka in bushes and drinks it while having a walk around the block and then back home.

Drug dealer?

My first thought

MiddleAgedDread · 28/04/2026 14:43

i had a neighbour who was just like this during lockdown but in and out all the time in his van. several neighbours all independently came to the conclusion he was a dealer!

TabbyM · 28/04/2026 14:44

Take the dog for a walk and track him!

FeralWoman · 28/04/2026 14:45

Drug dealer.

Itsanewdawnitsanewdayitsanewlife4me · 28/04/2026 14:48

@PlumPieBaker he lives with his father and they definitely have wifi so not that.
@LimbOnTheTreeTheTreeInTheHoleTheHoleInTheGround not physio as he is well able bodied (my age so mid 40's) and my yappy dog cant be helped when I am in the office!
@TFImBackIn taker more than dealer - I do actually know the bloke I just wouldnt class him a friend but no denying he loves his drugs it has to be said.
@Pinkywoo no wife, lives with his older dad.
@KittyWilkinson GD are initials lol
@wishfulthinking25 he does that regulary out the back garden. It does baffle me sometimes how much of that stuff is overlooked when living in a 'leafy suburb'!
@RomainingCalm @evilharpy not a fitness person. Wears fitness clothing but I think more for comfort.
@Amsylou I have done this myself but no not it either that i can think of. I could be wrong!
@wishingonastar101 @DeskGnome @7238SM all actually more likely the more i think of it.
@MabelRoyds ah he has only been back living with his dad maybe a year although i never considered ocd to be fair.
@StopThePigeonNow defo smokes out the back garden but not a huge drinker and nobody to hide it from anyway if he did.

I honestly couldnt keep up. He literally walks out the door, goes for about 5-10 mins and walks back. Very quick walker too. I could ask him as we are friendly enough but then i sound like the stalker i clearly am!

If not a drug dealer, then maybe he offers quickie head jobs to passing cars 🤷‍♀️

This made me laugh! Like Peter Mandelson

NetballHoop · 28/04/2026 14:53

Popping over to let a friends dog out for a wee?

wherearethesnacks · 28/04/2026 14:54

Turn the motion sensor off on your Ring doorbell. That function is just annoying.

I do when at work but I am home so both the sitting motion sensor (yappy dog) and my actual seeing sensors cant avoid him at the moment!
