We are going to Spain next month for 4 nights for a hen do.
We have been sent a message in the WhatsApp group that no white allowed except bride.
At first I thought she meant no white outfits for the night outfits (which is totally fine ) but she’s said no white at all.
No white vests /trainers /bikinis/cover ups /linen trousers etc etc
Now most of my vests I wear under jackets are white and my trainers are white.
Shes specified no white at all
So I’m gonna have to rethink loads of outfits as a lot of skirts for day time match with a white vest.
My linen trousers for pool days are also white etc
Do you think this is a bit ott?
I mean trainers …I only own white trainers 🙈

This is ridiculous…!

Sure nobody is pathetic enough to allow another adult to dictate what they can wear on a holiday they've paid for?

This. I'm at a point in life where I just nod and agree and then continue doing what I'd do anyway. What's she going to do - rip the clothes off you?

Northermcharn · 22/04/2026 13:27

😆That is ridiculous. She needs to get over herself. 😂

And a 4 day hen do? Even more self-obsessed.

Awful.

Yep ridiculous and screams attention seeking to me

FrostyMorn · 22/04/2026 13:28

Completely ludicrous! So glad I went through the hen do and wedding phase well before social media and smartphones but if I hadn't and had been given these instructions I would honestly tell the person where to go! Wear the white trainers, OP, for goodness sake!

LesleyA · 22/04/2026 13:31

I really hope she joins mumsnet so she can see the replies. Does she know the significance of wearing white on your wedding day? Gosh do u really like her? So self absorbed

Lovingapeacefulgarden · 22/04/2026 13:32

Lol I think i would have replied "Have you been on the wine lol? Course everyone will wear a bit of white its a summer colour so everyone does.

Honestly she sounds like a bridezilla

It’s honestly so ott
She’s forwarded us her baby pics and early years to print off and put them up at the airport bar …where we reserved a table
I’m hoping for sunshine so at least I can sun bathe

That is one of the most bonkers things I've read on MN. Why would anyone passing by your table give a shiny shit that some randomer is going on their hen-do!

Eddielizzard · 22/04/2026 13:34

It's utterly ridiculous. The height of self-centredness and entitlement. I'm embarrassed for her

Which airport and when? …there maybe MN hen spotters there at the same time as you. 😂
(You will spot them in ‘full white’)

MNers if you happen on this, please share the photos of this airport hen party!

Is she the boss of you?

Apparently so

watchingthishtread · 22/04/2026 13:48

She sounds s like a bit of a nightmare.
No white dresses I can understand but she has gone too far. The bridal party might adhere to the rule but no one else will.

SpaceRaccoon · 22/04/2026 13:51

I assume she's a virgin what with all this white-wearing?

Twattergy · 22/04/2026 13:51

I'd definitely wear the white vest or trainers or whatever. It's a totally unhinged and unreasonable request and deserves to be ignored.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/04/2026 13:52

5128gap · 22/04/2026 12:15

I'd send a message back "sorry that's too strict a code for me, my tops and trainers are white and I'm not buying more! I won't wear all white or white for nights out or be mistaken for the bride" (smiley face to soften it)

This

WallaceinAnderland · 22/04/2026 13:54

The only tax you pay at duty free - the wet lettuce tax

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 22/04/2026 13:56

Yeah I’d ignore that.

You have free will, you can wear what you like.

FleurDeFleur · 22/04/2026 13:56

Wear what you want. Oh, and good luck with the wedding 😨

NotAtMyAge · 22/04/2026 13:58

luluxxx · 22/04/2026 11:21

I’m a bridesmaid so it was kind of a given I was going.
Ive also paid the full amount too
It was paid in instalments so didnt seem as bad.
Tried to ask her about the trainers etc but she’s a firm no ..no white at all
Il just travel in some flats
I just thought it was so ott
i know we will all be thinking the same

You don't owe obedience to a totally unreasonable request. You've already paid for a trip which won't have been dirt cheap and it's ridiculous for you have to buy new trainers for that short time.

ticketwoes · 22/04/2026 13:58

VERY OTT!
I’ve been to hens where it’s been requested we all wear black on night, something a bit sparkly the next and I don’t mind that. That actually makes outfit planning easier.
but to be told what you can’t wear for every moment you are there right down to shoes is wild.
I’d push back with a simple ‘sorry, that’s not going to work for me. My footwear is white, and I’m not going to spend even more money on buying another pair.’

Houndsahollering · 22/04/2026 14:01

I’d message her and ask when she’s transferring the cost of the new wardrobe to your bank account so you can comply with this idiocy. And I would use the word idiocy too. If she’s like this over a holiday I can’t bear to imagine what the actual wedding will be like. How do people this self obsessed manage to keep friends?!

Therescathairinmybath · 22/04/2026 14:05

If she treats her friends like this, I can only begin to imagine how she behaves towards the groom! This foolish young woman cares more about tik tok image than her friends. It’s clear the wedding ‘stuff’ matters more to her than her future marriage, which is not a good sign for the future.

Unless she is going to buy you new trainers and vests, wear the (white) ones you already have.

Seelybee · 22/04/2026 14:06

@luluxxx why do grown adults put up with this nonsense??? Social media has a lot to answer for.
Use your words. Tell her that you can't re-plan or replace your holiday wardrobe over such a (stupid, vain and immature) demand. Ideally get other hens to say the same.
You will compromise with no white evening outfits (!).
Honestly!
