We are going to Spain next month for 4 nights for a hen do.
We have been sent a message in the WhatsApp group that no white allowed except bride.
At first I thought she meant no white outfits for the night outfits (which is totally fine ) but she’s said no white at all.
No white vests /trainers /bikinis/cover ups /linen trousers etc etc
Now most of my vests I wear under jackets are white and my trainers are white.
Shes specified no white at all
So I’m gonna have to rethink loads of outfits as a lot of skirts for day time match with a white vest.
My linen trousers for pool days are also white etc
Do you think this is a bit ott?
I mean trainers …I only own white trainers 🙈

I understand not wanting other people in white for the big day but it's a little ott for a hen do especially over several days in a hot country. I would hope she is having such fun she doesn't care what colour your shoes are. But I can't talk cos I did not have a hen do.

myheadsjustmush · 22/04/2026 12:59

Oh your friend is one of those brides. 🙄

If everyone else in the hen party feels the same as you do, then just agree to ignore this ridiculous request, carry on regardless, and wear the clothes you already have. If not, just wear what you want to.

It is bonkers for the bride to expect everyone to buy new clothes / shoes in order to adhere to her 'rules' 🤷‍♀️

I would give the Best Man a heads up on this too - then he can include it in his speech! 😂

I’m a bridesmaid so it was kind of a given I was going.
Ive also paid the full amount too
It was paid in instalments so didnt seem as bad.
Tried to ask her about the trainers etc but she’s a firm no ..no white at all
Il just travel in some flats
I just thought it was so ott
i know we will all be thinking the same

She's a bullying fuckwit.

I wouldn't be going to the hen do or the wedding.

Wait. I misread and thought it was at wedding and she had a point!

Now I see it’s for the hen do and her instagram!

She is even more nuts. If you go, flout it and wear something white even a tiny thing. Like tiny white earrings!

Edited

It’s not a little OTT it’s very OTT!

Controlling bridezilla alert.

Why are people saying "No white dresses is fair enough"?

Just stop it.

Of course it isn't 'fair enough'.

All these grown women have put themselves out both time-wise and money-wise to celebrate the bride to be's hen trip.

It's far from fair enough to dictate that they're not allowed to wear a white dress on a night out.

Lest the narcissist lose a minute's limelight.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 22/04/2026 13:01

I think I need to set up a business that specialises in telling people like this bride when they are being utterly ridiculous. People like @luluxxx could pay me or my staff a small fee to sit the bride silly down and tell her to stop being such a self absorbed muppet before she loses all her friends.

I’m asking for an investment of £25,000 for 40% of the business, Dragons.

luluxxx · 22/04/2026 11:24

It’s honestly so ott
She’s forwarded us her baby pics and early years to print off and put them up at the airport bar …where we reserved a table
I’m hoping for sunshine so at least I can sun bathe

Good grief, and someone wants to marry this woman? 😂

Wertui · 22/04/2026 13:02

Oh god, not an ‘insta hun’ type hen!

Twilightstarbright · 22/04/2026 13:03

Bride wearing white and everyone else wearing different colours is fine but no white
trainers etc is just ridiculous and I would ignore it. What’s she going to do pull the shoes off your feet?

PinkyFlamingo · 22/04/2026 13:04

Who is bride to you? Is she normally so self obsessed?

DripDripAprilshower · 22/04/2026 13:04

Just tell her you will be wearing whatever you like and you don’t want to hear her moaning.

No it isn't fine.

Because it involves grown women being dictated to by an ungrateful twat.

fartotheleftside · 22/04/2026 13:06

I think you should turn up in a wedding dress

Gowlett · 22/04/2026 13:09

Imagine what the wedding will be like…

LlynTegid · 22/04/2026 13:10

YABU for agreeing to this weekend to begin with. The 'only white' for a top/dress might be ok, but no white shoes etc is.

FeelingALittleWoozyHere · 22/04/2026 13:11

TheSnappyHelper · 22/04/2026 12:09

YANBU! "I'm afraid I literally don't own non-white alternatives for things like trainers, but of course will go colour whenever possible :) "

Don't ask for her permission, you're a grown woman, noone else gets to decide what you put on your feet/your body! And certainly not to make you spend money when you've already shelled out for an indulgent abroad hen do. Absurd.

I would definitely do this

Also not the point of the thread but I have never found white linen trousers that I can't see my underwear through. Do these exist?? I tried some nice white jeans on in Uniqlo last week and even those were see through

You all know you can just wear what you like and tell her you won't be buying new trainers/vest tops/beach cover ups? Why is she even getting involved in organisation? Usually the bridesmaids organise events/any decorations and make decisions re any dressing up that might happen/ send out the info to other guests (and in so doing are able to avoid ridiculous bridezilla requests!)

If you want to compromise I would say "that's a nice idea but it's a bit wasteful to require people to spend money to replace items they already. We can say "no entirely white outfits" or "no white to be worn on a particular night out" but not "no white to be worn at any point at all""

And then tell her to butt out of the organising as you want to have some surprises.

Isthisasillyquestion1 · 22/04/2026 11:18

Same, I always decline these! Who do people think they are, making everyone go abroad, ridiculous

Those who feel made to go need to grow a pair and say no.
Kids get made to do things sometimes but then even they can says no.
Suppose adults with a mind of their own can certainly say no.
Years ago I was invited on a hen abroad once it was going to cost nearly £1k for a week with clothling rules, I laughed and told the bride, it was a good joke, but no, not my thing plus I was a single mum with very limited income. with only about £300 to my name which was for the kids at a Haven holiday camp.
Five others pulled out due to cost, the bride threw a massive strop and ended up blanking us. Apparently 'she took' the three who were prepared to go to a Harvester restaurant, where they ended up paying for everything and she got blind drunk and fell over in the car park.
Kids got their holiday and we had a fab time so glad I didn't waste my money on the selfish cow who got divorced within 2 years anyway.

Just say I only have white trainers. What will she do - remove them from your feet? Don’t be a door mat about it! I can’t believe anyone would even entertain this. She does realise there will be other people there?

IPM · 22/04/2026 11:31

The blame lies 50-50 here.

Half with Bridezilla and half with the grown women indulging her ridiculous behaviour.

Completely this. She's only behaving like this because you let her.

These threads always make me think of Cartman 😂

Megifer · 22/04/2026 13:23

Id absolutely ignore this pathetic rule.

MayaPinion · 22/04/2026 13:24

Sure your trainers aren’t white anyway, they’re light ecru, and your vests are pale beige, and your linen slacks are whisper of grey. She’s mistaken if she thinks they’re white.

Star2004k · 22/04/2026 13:24

Insane bridezilla

maybe on one particular night out yes but the entire hen do?

I personally would not be friends with anyone like that. Childish main character syndrome
