@Itsmetheflamingowe seem to be on the same page

@StabiaGirl
Everytime I see one of those tank-like Land Rovers ....

I agree. Those kids might as well have been mowed down by a Sherman bloody tank. What the fuck was she driving that thing for? Nobody needs those in a city.

Well, 11 police officers are being investigated for gross misconduct relating to this case so it is definitely not all that it seems. I feel so sad for the families of the girls - that bloke in Liverpool who didn't actually kill anyone got far more coverage.

That is a really good point!

MaturingCheeseball · 14/04/2026 18:39

In reply to a pp re “lawyered up” - I mean advice, rather than nobbling the police. Great legal advice on tap will be able to come up with scenarios for a client, with client catching on and saying, eg, “Yes, now you mention it, an owl did fly in through the car window and scare me…”

I don’t think the police were racist - the victims were from decent middle-class families if that makes a difference - but if someone has come up with a plausible and clever legal excuse then the authorities will be at least ten steps behind.

Favouritefruits · 14/04/2026 18:40

It’s the main news today, BBC news main story. It’s so sad and such a tragedy the main focus is on police not the driver.

FlorenceAndTheVagine · 14/04/2026 17:21

Claire Freemantle gets every mention of her name removed from the internet. She has deep pockets.

The police also didn't take statements from witnesses, who had some interesting things to say about Claire Freemantle and her behaviour in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

If it’s the parental observations I’m thinking of, a post fit state can look like other behaviours. I’m fairly certain that the police haven’t followed up correctly with Claire Fremantle, but surely they did bloods / breathalyser analysis?

If they didn’t, I hope the people responsible get the book thrown at them.

ilovebrie8 · 14/04/2026 18:47

Those cars are like tanks quite literally as are Tesla’s etc they are so heavy as they are electros and the battery weighs a lot ! These types of cars shouldn’t be on normal license in my view.

Jemimapony · 14/04/2026 18:58

And… the OP wandered off

Ihateboris · 14/04/2026 19:03

My heart breaks for the parents of those little girls. I hope they get justice but fear they won't. The Freemantles have money, power and connections. One rule for them and another for us plebs. Imagine if any of us on here had such a tragic accident. If we said " I had an epileptic seizure ", do you think that would be the end of it...nothing to see here?. Hell no. It's not what you know, it's who you know.

You don’t seriously believe that?

Condbottle · 14/04/2026 15:58

I think the suspicion was/is that she shouldn't have been driving. She claimed the fit was a one off, first ever, but that may not have been true.

Also the HT at the school claimed they were never interviewed and felt that had evidence to offer, although I don't know what that could be.

For me, I don't know why it didn't open a much bigger discussion about the size and power of SUVs, because that was a monster, and whilst being hit by any car can be devastating, I suspect a smaller, less powerful vehicle would never have breached the fence.

But yes, also rich and well connected and very good lawyers.

I don't follow much news and this is the first I've heard of it. My late DH was declined a commercial pilot license because his EEG showed abnormalities that could pre-dispose him to epilepsy. He never had a fit, but died of unrelated causes in his mid forties.

His brother had a one off fit at forty. It's likely there was some genetic predisposition that was latent in him too. That doesn't mean it happened here, but it does happen. It also means if she said that's what happened, medical evidence may support it. I don't know enough to know if absence of EEG findings (or any other tests) are definite proof it wasn't a fit. I just know that presence is enough to make the aviation authorities cautious and that it can definitely lie dormant until middle age.

ilovebrie8 · 14/04/2026 19:16

I saw one set of parents the news tonight the other parents weren’t on.
Terrible, they still have no answers.
Locals from Wimbledon village must have some idea what happened I’d imagine.

Or just SEO manipulation?

Whats really odd is if you google her name the below article comes up. How do they know any of this information?

vocal.media/journal/claire-freemantle-overcoming-epilepsy-s-challenges-in-wimbledon-6c9c0qcj

Sounds like a PR push. I knew someone with epilepsy, sadly died (40) in the night because of a fit, and she couldn't drive. Her epilepsy started at puberty.

powersthatbe · 14/04/2026 19:23

Her DH is very senior and well connected at Morgan Stanley who will likely have provided some crisis PR assitance at the time. No doubt they moved very fast to erase her online presence and get the best lawyers working on her defence. It was a dreadfully chaotic and traumatic time at the school, dealing with many victims and families. All during the Wimbledon tennis tournament when local police resources were already at capacity. The fremantles will have made big strides in her case in those early days. Maybe they were in a position to close down questions and influence the investigation through their preparedness?

Itsmetheflamingo · 14/04/2026 19:27

Why did she need so much PR? What was is unique about her reputation that she want to be damaged? She doesn’t seem to be a public figure etc

Yeah, I don't think you understand how police investigations work, or the difference between legal representation pre CPS charge, and legal representation in defence, ie at trial

Its not that she needed PR, but that she was able to afford to use PR crisis managers to keep her name, face, family, online history out of reporting. Two little girls lost their lives - of course any wealthy family backed by a powerhouse employer might seek to limit damage.

Boolabus · 14/04/2026 19:33

Disgusting woman more interested in saving her own skin then showing any remorse for killing two children. Whatever the circumstances of what happened were show some basic humanity you've killed two kids fgs.

Has she got a powerhouse employer?

Ihateboris · 14/04/2026 19:35

I also think those killing machines should be banned in urban areas. I often see parents driving their precious child to school all of 200m!

ilovebrie8 · 14/04/2026 19:37

Is she still living in Wimbledon?

pancakestastelikecrepe · 14/04/2026 19:38

Honestly the absolute batshit comments suggesting monied people can utilise lawyers, to somehow evade a police investigation - behave!
IANAL but I lived with (a Legal 500) one.
An expensive lawyer(s) cannot influence a police investigation!

You sound insane and moreover, the frothing obsession with Fremantle's wealth is at best poor taste, at worst bordering on minimising the tragedy

Itsmetheflamingo · 14/04/2026 19:40

powersthatbe · 14/04/2026 19:36

He works for Morgan Stanley doesn’t he?

you reckon Morgan Stanley helped covered up an employees wife’s dangerous driving?! Really?

Jesus, no i didnt remotely say that at all? How did you extrapolate that?

A firm like MS has crisis PR teams to help them deal with certain incidents affecting the business/it’s staff and reputations. Its “possible”via her DHs employment that she had access to this kind of support. It would explain the wiping of all onlien history (which crisis pr teams routinely arrange).
