Everytime I see one of those tank-like Land Rovers I start the same conversation with DH: "Will those families ever get justice?"

The driver knew that she was epileptic; she stated she was in an unrelated published article that predated the Wimbledon incident. Presumably not disclosed to her insurers so compensation claims would revert to her personally. Essentially, we're talking bankruptcy. Her lawyer's website boasted that he could "make your problems go away" so I guess she and her husband took the pragmatic approach of paying X number of millions to someone who had the wherewithal to bribe, blackmail and bludgeon law enforcement into silence.

It stinks to high heaven and "racist officers" is nothing but a red herring.

This. The millionaire family and it conveniently ‘going away’ not a single photograph of her online. It’s a massive cover up and I feel so sad for those families.

Jemimapony · 14/04/2026 17:19

The irony is - you post a long headline news article dated today, so somewhat undermining your entire OP

FlorenceAndTheVagine · 14/04/2026 17:21

Claire Freemantle gets every mention of her name removed from the internet. She has deep pockets.

The police also didn't take statements from witnesses, who had some interesting things to say about Claire Freemantle and her behaviour in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

The DM printed her photo but it wasn’t up for very long.

We don’t know if the “racist officers” is a red herring. That’s what the inquiry will look into.

Threads like this are just an invitation for everyone to pile in with uninformed opinions and baseless speculation. Nobody on here knows what happened.

The investigation has been reopened. This has received massive publicity across the media.

Wheres the article?

Rosecoffeecup · 14/04/2026 17:29

If charges aren't brought - for legitimate reasons i.e. if there genuinely is no case to answer - then the suggestions of a cover up will never go away IMO.

The police conduct issues are very concerning

I saw the families on the news and thought their treatment was awful so I think today’s news show something went wrong

Lawyers cannot "cover anything up".
They act on behalf of a client.
This story has been all over the news.

Exactly this. Being 'lawyered up' will not prevent the CPS from bringing criminal charges if there is sufficient evidence resulting from a criminal investigation 🙄

@MaturingCheeseballout of interest, how do you think her lawyers were able to prevent/halt the police investigating?

JulietteHasAGun · 14/04/2026 17:44

There were some interesting posts last time from someone with local knowledge/gossip. Obviously we have no idea how true it was and sadly I can’t remember what they said!

Her husband Dominic Freemantle is very wealthy - he was a hedge fund manager at Morgan Stanley, not sure if he’s still there. They could certainly afford the best lawyers!

MrsKateColumbo · 14/04/2026 17:47

I do think the main takeaway here is the massive SUVs, I live in london and everybody seems to have them (except me and my skoda!) They are dangerous in cities with a dense population, and drivers seem to merrily pull off drives without looking for kids

Tigerbalmshark · 14/04/2026 13:51

There isn’t much else to say until the investigation is concluded, is there?

She says she had a fit, it’s possible she fibbed. Until the investigation is over, anything else is speculation (and risks prejudicing any trial, so won’t be reported on).

will there always be medical evidence of a fit?

Wasn’t there something about witnesses signing NDAs on the day of the accident?

Itsmetheflamingo · 14/04/2026 17:50

I’m actually wondering what “ferocious lawyers” would do in this scenario that would necessitate so little action froM the police. A suspects lawyers aren’t involved in the investigation, and it doesn’t seem to have got any further than that.

do people really think the police are terrified of lawyers? They deal with them
in interviews every single day.

similarminimer · 14/04/2026 17:51

if someone says that they blacked out at the wheel having never blacked out before, presumably it is incredibly difficult to prove that this is not the case. What sort of investigation could be done to disprove that?

Itsmetheflamingo · 14/04/2026 17:51

JoeTheDrummer · 14/04/2026 17:50

You can’t NDA someone against a crime

Yes I know, but you can NDA against talking to the press.

No

Photo of Claire Freemantle in this article. Amazing how even the UK news articles which got pictures of her published suddenly seemed to disappear. Presumably as the site above is under a different jurisdiction (Argentina), her lawyers had less reach.

What, like a sort of super injunction? Or just SEO manipulation?

JulietteHasAGun · 14/04/2026 17:56

So according to Google the CPS have previously said that she had no previous epilepsy diagnosis and no history of seizures.

so she herself says it was her first seizure. I doubt she’s managed to get her medical history wiped so this must be true…..the fact she had no previous diagnosis.

so the question must be as to whether or not she has lied about having a seizure. Iirc there was a lot made of the fact the crash investigation showed no evidence of braking which backs her claim up that she was unconscious. So either the investigation was very poor or she was unconscious or she didn’t brake for another reason.

if she didn’t have a seizure then it’s possible to get a diagnosis of epilepsy from self reported seizures. There isn’t always anything to see on a scan. MRI and EEG can be normal in people with epilepsy . Iirc you need two seizures so this incident would be the first one, then she just needs another seizure at home later. Though if she has made this up it doesn’t explain the lack of braking evidence.
