She’s not got off tho - charges haven’t been bought and no troa
the other issue is that the police seemed to have failed in their duties - that’s a biggie

givemushypeasachance · 14/04/2026 13:46

What news do you think it should be getting? I have seen coverage over the years of the initial incident, the decision not to charge, the parent campaign, the re-opening of the investigation, was reading on BBC yesterday about the police misconduct investigations.

Eesha · 14/04/2026 13:46

She was rearrested but is just seems like its been covered up by great lawyers

Attention from where? It's on the bbc. It's in the Daily Mail and presumably other newspapers. What else are you looking for?

HJ40 · 14/04/2026 13:48

BBC news homepage today and it was in the news when she was rearrested. Anyone who follows the news will know there have always been suspicions raised around this. Perhaps that’s just not you?

"The Met announced in October 2024 that it was reopening its investigation into the crash, following an internal review that identified a number of lines of inquiry.
Freemantle was re-arrested in January 2025 on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was interviewed by police again in July 2025."

How are lawyers "covering up" anything there? The police have a re-opened investigation, which the BBC reported on.

Tigerbalmshark · 14/04/2026 13:51

There isn’t much else to say until the investigation is concluded, is there?

She says she had a fit, it’s possible she fibbed. Until the investigation is over, anything else is speculation (and risks prejudicing any trial, so won’t be reported on).

JulietteHasAGun · 14/04/2026 13:57

There was massive threads on here back when it happened. I think the whole thing stinks. Maybe she had a fit, maybe she knows what to say to the doctors. Sadly the only person who will ever know for 100% sure if she is telling the truth is her.

I doubt she will ever be convicted of anything unless they unearth different crash investigation details such as evidence that she did brake. I think the fact they said that she didn't brake is the biggest backing to her story...it does give weight to the argument that she was unconscious.

MrThorpeHazell · 14/04/2026 14:29

It's on the front page of every news media site I follow. What more do you want?

Spaghettea · 14/04/2026 14:32

It was one of the first things I heard on BBC radio 4 news this morning.

StabiaGirl · 14/04/2026 14:50

Everytime I see one of those tank-like Land Rovers I start the same conversation with DH: "Will those families ever get justice?"

The driver knew that she was epileptic; she stated she was in an unrelated published article that predated the Wimbledon incident. Presumably not disclosed to her insurers so compensation claims would revert to her personally. Essentially, we're talking bankruptcy. Her lawyer's website boasted that he could "make your problems go away" so I guess she and her husband took the pragmatic approach of paying X number of millions to someone who had the wherewithal to bribe, blackmail and bludgeon law enforcement into silence.

It stinks to high heaven and "racist officers" is nothing but a red herring.

somanychristmaslights · 14/04/2026 15:00

It’s on the Sky news app too. Where else do you want to see it???

AnOldLeodensian · 14/04/2026 15:18

@StabiaGirl it’s legal for epileptics to drive so long as criteria are met - eg a year without a seizure. I’m not sure what evidence (if any) you have for claiming she hadn’t told her insurers about the epilepsy.

@Eesha - it’s on all the major news sites and has been repeatedly since the incident, I’m not sure how much more attention for think it should get.

StabiaGirl · 14/04/2026 15:42

@AnOldLeodensian She escaped charges by claiming she'd never had any previous seizures.

FavouriteBiggle · 14/04/2026 15:44

I think she has ferocious lawyers and probably people removing any mention of her online.

Have any MN threads been nuked?

JulietteHasAGun · 14/04/2026 15:45

StabiaGirl · 14/04/2026 15:42

@AnOldLeodensian She escaped charges by claiming she'd never had any previous seizures.

That’s very true. I hadn’t heard about her saying before the accident she was epileptic. If that’s true then surely it would be on her medical records?

And yes depending on the date of her last seizure she possibly shouldn’t have been driving. My dad had to be seizure free for a year.

FavouriteBiggle · 14/04/2026 15:46

GingerBeverage · 14/04/2026 15:45

Just wait and see.

Condbottle · 14/04/2026 15:58

I think the suspicion was/is that she shouldn't have been driving. She claimed the fit was a one off, first ever, but that may not have been true.

Also the HT at the school claimed they were never interviewed and felt that had evidence to offer, although I don't know what that could be.

For me, I don't know why it didn't open a much bigger discussion about the size and power of SUVs, because that was a monster, and whilst being hit by any car can be devastating, I suspect a smaller, less powerful vehicle would never have breached the fence.

But yes, also rich and well connected and very good lawyers.

JohnofWessex · 14/04/2026 16:02

I cant imagine that my 10 year old Kia Ceed Estate would have managed to cross the pavement never mind demolished the wall under the same circumstances (And yes, I am very happy with it!)

Condbottle · 14/04/2026 16:03

I think anyone expecting the driver will be prosecuted at the end of the investigation will be disappointed. I think it will be found that there were failings in the way the case was handled but that the outcome was correct.

AnOldLeodensian · 14/04/2026 16:09

@StabiaGirl there were news reports at the time saying it was her first seizure, but the more recent reports have said that it was an “unexpected seizure”, which is consistent with controlled epilepsy, and a seizure happening unexpectedly in somebody who was legally allowed to drive. It’s entirely possible she knew she was epileptic but was legal to drive.

MaturingCheeseball · 14/04/2026 16:10

At the time I was ferociously attacked on MN because I felt the driver had evaded justice and I still stand by this. But received many messages from people saying they thought so too.

I don’t think the police have been racist - rather, weak in the face of someone clearly lawyered-up.

MaturingCheeseball · 14/04/2026 16:10

I wonder if the driver is still on the road….

LayaM · 14/04/2026 16:13

It’s entirely possible she knew she was epileptic but was legal to drive.

It's equally possible that she had other seizures , wasn't honest with her insurers or even medics, that people around her know but she has used expensive lawyers to ensure no one can prove anything in court.

It's less likely but possible (and I say this as someone who has absolutely zero trust in the police) that the police have been bribed to ignore certain information they have received.
