Just read that Trump is going to blockade the Strait of Hormuz.
So, the US is going to stop vessels going in and out and stop those who have paid a toll to Iran and.... well I do not know. Will they raise the pirate flag for this?
How is obstructing the passingvof vessels even more going to sort this issue?
There are some pipelines around the Strait, indeed. For some producers. They can get less oil out of those than directly by port. And at least a pipe had been damaged on the fire exchange. I think now repaired. Pipelines are really vulnerable to bombing. So... they are only a relative solution.
I cannot really understand Trump.... He has put US international position in quite a pickle already. He is on seriously stormy waters with NATO, for starters. If this drags for long, with the US blockading the Strait, pirate style, the little faith remaining will vanish. US could, taking this to the extreme, lose its bases in the whole of Europe, lose access to Greenland sea and air space plus their base there, same for whatever agreement they have with Canada and lose their bases in the Middle East. Trump has already been refused access to South Asia ports for this campaign.
So... if he pushes relationships to the final breaking point, which he seems prepared to do, how is the US going to sustain any military power over anywhere in the World?
Trump's approval is sinking in US, but I think internationally is at a critical breaking point. Yet he keeps pushing.
I can still see him launching an attack on Greenland or putting his nose far too deep into Europe's elections.
And Lebanon is getting the Gaza treatment. He cannot contain Natanyahu, he has lost any power he had over him, if he ever had any.
I think the only way he can get out of this is by calling it a victory and shipping back home. Before the financial pressures around the globe force US out for good.
