Looking for some inspiration that isn’t lamb. Don’t fancy a roast but want something a bit special.

OP posts:

We’re doing a Lamb curry, with all the trimmings: Pilau, Naan, Bahjis, Aloo Gobi & Bombay Potatoes.

I know you didn’t want to do Lamb, but you could a chicken curry.

We did a BBQ last year, with a Mediterranean theme.

Roast beef with all trimmings including cauliflower cheese. Cheesecake, wine

BiddyPopthe2nd · 04/04/2026 13:12

I am no help as I am on the lookout for a smallish leg or shoulder of lamb to do a slow roast, with winter root veggies roasted with it. But we very rarely have a roast these days.

I'll probably take a break from my DIY for a cheese sandwich. Maybe even a bag of crisps.

Turkey and Ham, potatoes, broccoli and carrots, pavlova
A lighter version of Christmas lunch. Have 12 for dinner so it's an easy one

olivietolivie · 04/04/2026 13:41

Leg of lamb, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese, carrot and swede mash, spring greens, baby corn, roasted carrots and parsnips, broccoli and gravy. Would have had red cabbage too but Morrisons was sold out. Cheesecake for pud. All washed down with several bottles of Oyster Bay Sauvignon.

golddiamond · 04/04/2026 13:50

Vegetarian buffet
Black Bean Bake
Cheese and asparagus tarts
Baby new potatoes
Spring rolls and dipping sauce
Chestnut hummus
Crudites
Green salad with honey mustard dressing
Focaccia with olives and tomatoes
Meringues with clotted cream
Raspberries
Raspberry ripple ice cream
Whole orange cake

Maybe it’s an odd combination but it’ll tick everyone’s boxes.
All home made by me.

What’s a Yorkshire salad?

Growlybear83 · 04/04/2026 14:03

We always have roast turkey, gammon, and all the usual trimmings. I know lamb is more traditional at Easter, but I couldn't eat roast lamb if my life depended on it.

mynameiscalypso · 04/04/2026 14:04

Sorry - lamb here! A slow-roasted shoulder of lamb with a feta and walnut crust (a BBC Good Food recipe). Served with salad, hummus, tzatziki and flatbreads.

PottingBench · 04/04/2026 14:12

Roast gammon, cauli cheese, roast potatoes carrots and parsnip, swede, peas and cavolo nero.

Apple crumble and custard for pudding.

FlorenceBlack · 04/04/2026 14:12

Roast beef
Biscoff cheesecake

ReignOfError · 04/04/2026 14:15

We’re also having gammon, and I may make a lemon posset, or an apple tart.

Jamesblonde2 · 04/04/2026 14:18
