Looking for some inspiration that isn’t lamb. Don’t fancy a roast but want something a bit special.

Ooh I’m so excited for my Easter dinner!
we’re having leg of lamb, potato dauphinois, carrots in whipped feta and chargrilled courgette with Parmesan and breadcrumbs. Ooh and Eton Mess for dessert

CPNSBH · 04/04/2026 14:26

Gammon, roast potatoes, salad, boiled eggs, crusty bread, pickles, nice cheese.

Londonmummy66 · 04/04/2026 15:16

Leg of lamb with roasties, carrots, purple sprouting and asparagus followed by lemon posset. Whilst the lamb is in I'm going to roast some of the bargainous Lidl 15p shallots to make an onion and feta tart on Monday.

We’ve got a roast tonight due to who’s here, so tomorrow will be pulled pork, corn, coleslaw etc. (obviously when I planned this I envisioned better weather and we’d be in the garden with bbq)

sittingonabeach · 04/04/2026 16:13

Roast lamb

MinnieMountain · 04/04/2026 16:23

We had ours today.

Bruschetta for nibbles/ starter. Mains was porcetta, wilted spring greens with lemon, fennel with apples and chestnuts, and fried potatoes. Pudding is Ottolenghi orange and chocolate cake.

TheChosenTwo · 04/04/2026 16:25

We’re going to have slow roast shoulder of lamb and a gammon (two of the dc don’t like lamb), my mum and stepdad are coming along with my sister and bil. The roast will be served with all the sides and some kind of pudding yet to be decided.

mindutopia · 04/04/2026 16:28

Well, for the first time in probably 15 years, I’m not cooking! We’re on holiday so going to the pub. 🙌🏼

But normally, we have a smoked leg of lamb (so smoked in a proper outdoor smoker) with a selection of salads, like lentil salad of some sort, feta/watermelon/cucumber, tomato and onion salad, a green salad with hummus, tzatziki, olives and flatbreads.

So lamb, but not a ‘roast’ in the traditional sense. You could do similar with roast spiced chicken if you didn’t want lamb and don’t have a smoker.

Fakingitnotmakingit · 04/04/2026 16:31

Roast chicken, dauphinoise potatoes, cauliflower cheese, vegetables, skirlie (I'm Scottish), yorkies.

I love a Sunday roast, the fact it's Easter weekend is actually irrelevant, we'd be having one anyway.

mamaduckbone · 04/04/2026 16:31

Roast beef - I don’t really like lamb. I might do dauphinoise potatoes to make it a bit more special than a normal Sunday roast.

Samewrinklesnewname · 04/04/2026 16:37

Beef wellington-using the other half of the whole fillet I bought at Christmas. I did actually plan to do this when I bought it!

No idea what to do for pudding, but I have plenty of ingredients

Rainbow1235 · 04/04/2026 16:43

Roast beef roast and new potatoes pigs in blankets Parsnips Yorkshires peas carrots sprouts and cauliflower cheese and strawberry cheesecake for those who want it we got 10 coming for dinner

notlisteningwithmother · 04/04/2026 16:44

Meant to be roast chicken with roast potatoes, selection of veg and a vegetarian loaf. But DH decided to buy gammon instead of chicken and I'm now looking at a few recipes for a glaze. Probably not necessary but I've never cooked gammon before!

Gardening2025 · 04/04/2026 16:52

Vegan pie with mashed potato, roasted carrots & a butt load of gravy. On a soft diet for medical reasons, so may resort to the lobster bisque I treated myself to, plus hummus & psb. And some mashed potato & gravy later!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 04/04/2026 16:55

I am having a buffet with salad, 2 sorts of hummus, prawn cocktail, salmon blinis, cold chicken, baby new potatoes, crusty bread, rosemary crackers, cheese straws, coleslaw, beetroot salad, mini sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, nut roast, pate, rolatis(cheese covered salami), stuffed mini peppers, quiche, crisps, mini Melton Mowbray pies and a hedgehog (Silverskin pickled onions, cheese and pineapple on sticks). Then mini lemon tarts and chocolate orange egg brownies and a vienetta to keep the 70s vibe going. There will be 8 or 9 of us. 1 vegetarian, I piscatarian, 2 small boys and the rest of us who will eat anything.

cotswoldsgal1234 · 04/04/2026 16:58

Beef Wellington, served with mini roast potatoes, leek gratin, roasted carrots and parsnips and asparagus. Followed by either plum crumble or cherry trifle….

Sundaysmonday · 04/04/2026 16:59

We’re 2 men down here with an awful virus so likely just some toast. Maybe with beans if people are up for it 🫣. It’s my birthday & the weekend of nice walks & trips to cafes has been well & truly decimated 😭.
I’ll be drowning my sorrows in chocolate.

StrongerFitter · 04/04/2026 16:59

Bacon sarnies :)
will probably have a roast on Monday when we have more time

murasaki · 04/04/2026 17:09

Sorry, lamb for us, shoulder cooked over boulangere potatoes, with asparagus.

I'll make the rest of the lamb into moussaka this week.

Tulipvase · 04/04/2026 17:14

mrswhiplington · 04/04/2026 14:21

I was wondering this as well.😊

I’d assumed a typo for pudding

ginasevern · 04/04/2026 17:16

Medium rare roast beef, yorkshire puddings, sprouts, mashed swede, spring greens and leeks in creamy white sauce. Lemon posset and shortbread for pudding and a cheese board. All washed down with plentiful wine.

mrswhiplington · 04/04/2026 17:22

Tulipvase · 04/04/2026 17:14

I’d assumed a typo for pudding

Just Googled it, it's cucumber and onion mixed with vinegar sometimes eaten with Yorkshire pudding.😀 Who knew? There's also a Durham salad as well.

Amperoblue · 04/04/2026 17:23

Three of us and DS is vegan.
I’ve got the lamb in the freezer for when I fancy it - it’s my favourite roast.
We will be having a Chinese take away as a treat. We love them but they are too extravagant for most weeks.

Laiste · 04/04/2026 17:29

God i adore roast lamb! Did roast lamb for 8 last year and was luverly

Bur this year we're having Dominos (!) cos there's even more of us at once and i don't have time to prepare.

GrillaMilla · 04/04/2026 17:30

mynameiscalypso · 04/04/2026 14:04

Sorry - lamb here! A slow-roasted shoulder of lamb with a feta and walnut crust (a BBC Good Food recipe). Served with salad, hummus, tzatziki and flatbreads.

Ooh this sounds lovely
