North face coat, 240quid. Would you spend it on your dd13?

Depends.if she deserves it, would.look after it, needs it, can I afford it? If yes to those things then yes.

SwedishSayna · 21/03/2026 20:05

No absolutely not.

TheChicDreamer · 21/03/2026 20:05

Yes, and I did with both dds, only for them to look just like everyone else.
Insane isn’t it! Invest in a good marker pen and make sure the label is marked.

No way!

I wouldn't spend that much on a coat for myself.

LlynTegid · 21/03/2026 20:05

Not a chance.

LittleBearPad · 21/03/2026 20:05

Possibly - might go bigger on the size. Big believer in ‘you’ll grow into it’

Callalilly2016 · 21/03/2026 20:05

I would be worried that might make them a target for being mugged. A lot of those coats have been stolen. For that reason alone, I probably wouldn’t.

Brewtiful · 21/03/2026 20:05

No. It's silly money for something she will grow out of quickly, providing she doesn't lose it or have it stolen first that is.

Songbird54321 · 21/03/2026 20:06

Not a chance. My sister buys expensive designer clothes for her kids which is absolutely her choice, but they grow out of them in 6-12 months if they’re not ruined or lost before then.
I couldn’t justify it, no matter how much money I had.

MyTrivia · 21/03/2026 20:06

Yes

Wynter25 · 21/03/2026 20:06

No

Lemonfrost · 21/03/2026 20:06

No. It's a trend.

TheBlueKoala · 21/03/2026 20:08

I spent 30 for my DS north west coat on vinted. It was pristine and he had no idea it wasn't "new". Would never spend 240 £ on a coat unless it was a birthday/christmas gift and they wanted nothing else.

HelenaWilson · 21/03/2026 20:09

No-one needs a coat costing £240.

newornotnew · 21/03/2026 20:09

No

Czerwonitz · 21/03/2026 20:09

Depends - am I a gangster's girlfriend?

Luckyingame · 21/03/2026 20:09

Yes, of course.

Hatty65 · 21/03/2026 20:10

No. It's not an amount that I would/could afford to spend on a coat for anyone. Particularly not a child that is still growing.

Primark do perfectly reasonable stuff for 13 yo.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 21/03/2026 20:10

Yes and I have.

cadburyegg · 21/03/2026 20:10

No I couldn’t afford it but if you can then go for it

Yes this exactly the situation, it’s her birthday and she wants for nothing to be honest…but she needs a new coat and she loves them, of course she does as “everyone” has one. So I got her one and my dm thinks I’m nuts 😂 I thought it was ok as a once off tbf. She is very deserving and treats everything with care.

Yes

sd249 · 21/03/2026 20:11

No but I would go on vinted and get one that someone else bought for that much and their child probably barely wore before they grew out of it!

We got a slightly bigger size to go over her school jumper yes and so she can get a few years out of it.

Yes for a birthday if you can afford it. It’s what she wants for her birthday
