What are your extravagant spends that you have zero guilt about

My mum lives about 130 miles away from me. I visit her three times a year. I always get an Uber there and a first-class train back.

My friend nearly fell off her seat laughing at my extravagance when I told her about this earlier today😅😅😅

My DH has a bit of a tinned fish habit and can easily spend £70 a month on it.

What ridiculous, extravagant things do you spend money on with zero guilt?

We eat out every weekend (we don’t have takeaways though) dh will also nip to the pub for beer to drink at home (they sell cask beer to take away, 25% cheaper than drinking in and it’s local breweries too)

My horses!

macshoto · 05/03/2026 15:32

Wine
Italian cars - Maintaining my Maserati and Abarth

Mossstitch · 05/03/2026 15:34

My vehicle, ex demo model only 60 miles on the clock...........retirement present to myself. Rarely spend money on myself, totally unnecessary extravagance, i do very low mileage and one for a tenth of the price would have done the job but it makes me smile everytime i get in it😍

Tinned fish is so trendy and expensive these days!! 😂

I mean, I suppose extravagant spends is relative to income, but for me I have zero guilt about…

A weekly cleaner
Ocado delivery once a week
Take away coffees (sometimes daily)
Nice bubble bath/body washes/shampoos

Spent £300 on a leather jacket. Don't care, love it. Also love a good handbag.

Sothys facials, paraffin Manicures and Pedicures

Just being nosey to ask why you only visit your Mum 3 times a year?. We are all different but if my adult children only saw me 3 times a year I'd be so depressed.. l visit my sister once a month and she lives 200 miles away.. anyhow to answer your question.. people think im extravagant for flying abroad 8 times a year for a 5 day break.. although its always SC but l do get a villa with it's own pool. I eat out 3 times a week for late lunch/ early tea.
But to me this is just normal .. l think it all depends on our own money situation. I take ubers everywhere if not being driven by family members... even had far as 200 miles .. there and back.

My monthly massage. About £100. I've been going to the same lady for nearly 20 years. She's amazing.

Lurpak!

MrTiddlesTheCat · 05/03/2026 15:41

Crumpets. Before you say they're not expensive, I'm not in the UK. I have to pay around £5 for a pack of 6 and a further £15 delivery charge. For crumpets.

CatrinVennastin · 05/03/2026 15:41

I spent a fortune on tickets to see Taylor Swift at Wembley a couple of years ago. My DD’s still talk about it as one of the best days ever so I feel it was worth it.

HeidiLite · 05/03/2026 15:43

I work out a lot so I have a HUGE number of cute matching gym outfits. I could go to gym every day without doing laundry for weeks. Do I need all those sets? Of course not, 2 random ones to rotate would be enough. But they make me happy.

LittlePrecious · 05/03/2026 15:44

@nicky2512 Ha, I also spend a small fortune on the dog but that's not extravagant, totally necessary 😆

@15February1960 Going to my mum's isn't exactly a joyful experience. She makes it very clear that having visitors is a huge inconvenience so three times a year is more than enough.

Sweaty Betty Power leggings for my home workouts. Nobody sees me so I could literally work out in anything, but I love my Powers!

DH has always been tinned fish obsessed. It used to just be mackerel in tomato sauce.
A couple of Christmasses ago I noticed you could get some really nice imported ones so I bought him a hamper of them. Apparently tinned fish was the present of that year. I had no idea.
Anyway, he bloody loved the hamper. And now he has an expensive tinned fish habit.

Eating out and wine, (trying to cut back on wine though ) we don’t have children and run our own businesses and are really busy, we eat out about three times a week, we don’t really care where we eat whether it’s a cafe, pub grub or Michelin (and everything in between) but we work bloody hard near enough 7 days a week, we are foodies, we don’t have time for holidays or weekends away that often so eating out is our way of switching off and dating instead of talking about our businesses which we always end up doing when we are at home

DoubleRainbow3 · 05/03/2026 15:54

My new window shutters. So expensive but I love them.

Love this. And now you've made me massively grateful that we only have to pay £1 for them so I am going to pick some up on the weekly shop tomorrow.

I like how your username is @alcoholfreelife and your greatest extravagance is wine 😆
