What outrageously expensive household item would you buy if money were no object?

I'd like solid silver cutlery. I have actually considered getting a couple of place settings, just for me. Also, Herend porcelain but I am so accident-prone, I wouldn't dare.

What would you buy?

Not a 10k duvet for a start! 😂 I’d buy a roomba and one of those ridiculously expensive automatic litter trays.

Toddlerteaplease · 28/02/2026 22:20

Oh yes and a housekeeper.

MaximoMark · 28/02/2026 22:27

Basement with a cinema room

justgottadoit · 28/02/2026 22:35

Gimme a ride on lawnmower. I’d have a lotta fun with it creating patterns in the grass

A life sized robot to do all the housework

A mini robot would be better, otherwise you would need a big cupboard to keep him in when he wasn’t working.

Morepositivemum · 28/02/2026 22:46

I’d go Dyson mad, Hoover, hairdryer, handheld!!!

gototogo · 28/02/2026 22:49

I’d like new serving ware, I’m very happy with my denby plates and we have good cutlery (Sheffield steel for everyday and silver for special occasions) I’d like a new sofa and a new mattress

SewingBees · 28/02/2026 23:02

Beautiful handmade wooden furniture to replace all my cheap ugly IKEA stuff

A second dishwasher
Japanese toilet
Shower with multiple spray points
LG mobile/rechargeable iPad type TV’s
Electric blinds
Robot floor cleaner thing (are they actually any good?)
Hoover function in base boards of kitchen

I have a Eufy robot hoover and it is very good. I use it most days (we have two teens, two cats and a dog so regular vacuuming is needed). I still have an ordinary hoover which I also use, but the robot does the day to day keeping on top of things. I just go round with the proper hoover once or twice a week.

A Wolf oven set up and Sub Zero fridge freezer

Waitingfordoggo · 28/02/2026 23:04

Like PP, I would have Le Creuset everything, in a whole range of colours.

What I would most like is a solar battery but they are pricey. (We have solar panels but don’t get the full use of them without a battery).

I have a whole canteen,it was my Grandparents', perhaps I need to get it out more.

NotMyRealAccount · 28/02/2026 23:07

A really good range cooker, or a top of the range digital piano.

LauraMipsum · 28/02/2026 23:09

I'm another for a full set of Le Creuset.

I'm also having a vintage globe drinks cabinet, to go with beautiful wooden bookcases.

And a hot tub in the garden (which would involve enough money to move to a less crowded area where it wouldn't be antisocial)

Central airconditioning

TenaAngst · 28/02/2026 23:16

One of those little dishes especially designed for used tea bags, oh the joy of alleviating the years of misery I’ve had to endure actually putting them in the bin 😢

AuntieDolly · 28/02/2026 23:20

One of those outdoor jacuzzi’s you can swim in

See this kind of thing is what people always say and it makes them sound terrible, you have a robot and still have to hoover properly twice a week?! I only hoover once a week now without a robot!

Why do you need to hoover yourself at all? What parts does the robot miss? Is the suction just generally very poor so it's always doing half a job?

pinkpony88 · 28/02/2026 23:31

A swimming pool! 🏊‍♀️

How much was your toilet? Also do they have to be wired in I suppose somehow? Hmm, I wonder how they do that when there aren't many wires already in the bathroom.

It is a disabled adaptation, my ot arranged it.
Yes it is wired in. The fitter drilled a hole through into a bedroom and it plugs in.

80smonster · 28/02/2026 23:55

I’d have a LaCornue oven, Fisher Playkel drawers dishwasher and one of those 10k duvets mentioned in another thread.
