US strikes Iran

In conjunction with Israel.
Why? Starting wars has never ever ended well for the US, or for the country they are trying to 'help.'

"We have been choked so much by the regime, that whatever comes next will be better"

Woman in Iran, looking forward with hope. Good luck to her and the people of Iran 🇮🇷

Morocco?
Do you know where that is in a map?

It's got nothing to do with geography it's about politics. Morocco isn't aligned with Iran, but there are groups in Morocco that are. So tourists will be fair game... don't be surprised if there's a huge increase in easy targets in place like Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco...

The finger pointing begins, Pentagon throwing Trump under the bus:
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/pentagon-tells-congress-no-sign-that-iran-was-going-attack-us-first-sources-say-2026-03-02/ :

PENTAGON BRIEFINGS LASTED MORE THAN 90 MINUTES
Pentagon officials briefed Democratic and Republican staff of several national security committees in both the Senate and the House of Representatives for more than 90 minutes on the unfolding U.S. attack in Iran, White House spokesperson Dylan Johnson said earlier.
In the briefings, administration officials emphasized that Iran's ballistic missiles and proxy forces in the region posed an imminent threat to U.S. interests, but there was no intelligence about Tehran attacking U.S. forces first, the two sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters.
Trump said the attack, which is expected to run for weeks, aimed to ensure Iran could not have a nuclear weapon, contain its missile program and eliminate threats to the United States and its allies.
He has urged Iranians to rise up and topple the government.

I can understand this. I hope for them too.

The back peddling continues from vocal voices who always called for a war with Iran. When John Bolton, one of the loudest advocates for years is sounding the alarm on Trump’s Iran gamble. In an exclusive interview, Trump’s onetime national security adviser warns the strike on Iran may deepen conflict, create a dangerous power vacuum — and plunge the region into turmoil

Was Trump tricked and given bad intelligence? If so who by?

On CBS's Face the Nation (March 1, 2026), Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) stated he spoke with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who confirmed: the US did not target Khamenei (the strike was Israeli) and is not seeking regime change in Iran. Multiple outlets (CBS, Dayton Daily News) report the same.

I agree the actual government of Lebanon don't want to be involved. Innocent people get killed.

All these countries have problems with their respective terrorists so Iran regime fall might mean less support for terrorism. Could the individual countries do anything themselves to deal with their own terrorists.

Edited

The fall of this Iran regime will help. And, yes they should do more to deal with their own terrorist groups. But we all know how difficult that is, we had our own in Europe. And Hezbollah is huge, for what I know.

Interesting, there are several different videos and CNN has reported that the Kuwaiti Government said several planes crashed.

Perhaps, some sort of EMP?

https://edition.cnn.com/2026/03/02/middleeast/us-kuwait-aircraft-crash-iran-intl-hnk

The other video I saw was the fireball one.

Edited

The Guardian is reporting worst. That Kuwait accidentally shot them.

Could be, errant targeting, potentially $200 million lost.

At least the 4 pilots look safe and well and managed to parachute.

They are huge. However, Israel have taken a number of operatives out in the last few years. The did Lebanon a favour

In a way.
They also bombed Lebanon and so killed quite a bit of the civilians, who have nothing to do with it.
Still.... they are present and armed and again, directing fire towards Lebanon after sending rockets to Israel! It looks like, in reality, not much has changed. Just a lot of civilians lost life, loved ones, homes and infrastructure.
This conflict is too much like groundhog day. Same shite, different faces.
Let's hope for an end to it.

I agree. Too many innocents caught in the middle. Lets hope a quick end to it.

Two drones heading to RAF Akrotiri intercepted (BBC breaking news at 11.35am)

Sirens have sounded at the UK base in southern Cyprus.

Now, a Cypriot government spokesperson says two drones heading towards RAF Akrotiri have been intercepted.

This comes after an Iranian drone crashed into the UK military base last night, "causing minor material damage".

Twiglets1 · 02/03/2026 12:24

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 02/03/2026 08:24

I think that comment referred to a separate incident in which Israel had intercepted missiles that were heading towards Cyprus but apparently weren't specifically aimed at Cyprus.

With this latest attack, it seems pretty clear that the target was intentional.

Exactly, the second incident yesterday seemed obviously intentional.

And now 2 more drones have been intercepted heading towards RAF Akrotiri.

EasyJet cancelled flights to Cyprus after an RAF base was attacked in an overnight drone strike.

An Iranian Shahed one-way attack drone hit RAF Akrotiri at midnight local time (10pm GMT), according to Nikos Christodoulides, the Cypriot president.

Two more drones heading towards the base were intercepted at lunchtime on Monday, after Sir Keir Starmer said British military sites could be used to strike Iran.

Paphos airport was evacuated and nearby airspace was closed in response to the escalation.

Sources told the Cyprus Mail that all EasyJet flights connecting Cyprus to the UK would be cancelled until Thursday.

Mixed messages coming from the US. Trump claiming that Iran were going to strike the US first and the Pentagon denying it. From Trump's track record - I can guess which one is lying.

BerthaPotts · 02/03/2026 12:36

I have friends living in Qatar who are terrified right now, but also angry at their government for allowing US bases in their country.

BerthaPotts · 02/03/2026 12:39

When i heard Khomeini was killed, i was hoping that would bring an end to the fighting very quickly. It's not looking likely right now though.

JustGiveMeTheNoodles · 02/03/2026 12:43

I was meant to fly home from Cyprus today but flights cancelled. Earliest is 6th but not hopeful

MushMonster · 02/03/2026 12:47

If the Pentagon is publictly opposing Trump and now, in the middle of a war, it is possible that this takes Trump down, instead of the Islamic Republic....
I do not think Trump will survive this war if it goes for long. I think he will lose the middle term elections or get impeached, again!

It's not likely at all, by killing Khamenei Trump et al turned this from a political war to a religious war. Also Trump by gloating and completely demanding capitulation by Iran has attacked their pride and failed to understand the importance of "dignity" or the rally round the flag effect of bombing primary schools. Also by saying we want regime change means it's a fight for survival.

So Iran is escalating this to the point where the cost for America and it's allies will be so high they'll have to sue for peace (not a fake "ceasefire") and will not attempt this again, even if it means the death of Iranians.

That's why your friends are unfortunately caught up in this (tell them to stay away from any Military installations or Hotels where the military are staying).

BerthaPotts · 02/03/2026 13:02

I think the general feeling from gulf states that have US air bases, is a feeling of abandonment from the US after they have been attacked. But really, they should have known what they were signing up for.

He was stitched up like a kipper, The Democrats postponed a vote on the War Powers Act late last week, just before the attack.

Knowing how good and ruthless Democrat strategists can be, this allows all the blame to be placed on Trump and will be used to drive their midterm campaigns. There is also the possibility of further impeachment.

The irony of Trump being taken down by his own folly would be epic.

I can't remember where i read it now, but theres murmurs that Vance wasn't happy with the attack on Iran either. It goes against the MAGA ethos of America first.
