In conjunction with Israel.
Why? Starting wars has never ever ended well for the US, or for the country they are trying to 'help.'

Am I making a reasonable guess here. Is Donald Trump Jr making money on his dads wars
Are his too???

from the Guardian

‘ Aisha Down reports that several users on US-based prediction market platform Polymarket have made substantial sums of money betting on when the US strikes on Iran would take place:
At least seven different accounts on the platform Polymarketappear to have collectively made over $1.5m on bets that the USwould strike Iran this weekend. Five of these accounts are new accounts that have made no other bets; one more appears to have only also bet on strikes last weekend.
One more, “Magamyman”, has previously bet mostly on US and Israeli strikes against Iran over the past year.
All of these accounts are anonymous. A crypto analytics platform has called six of them “suspected insiders”, noting that their bets were funded in the past few days and timed specifically for this weekend. These accounts collectively made roughly $1.2m.
Polymarket received investment last summer from a venture firm backed by Donald Trump Jr., who sits on its advisory board. Months after this investment, US regulatory authorities ended ongoing investigations into the platform for operating an unregistered derivatives trading platform and possible violations of money laundering laws.
Earlier this year, a similarly new account on Polymarket appearedto make nearly half a million dollars betting on Maduro’s capture.’

Is there no end to their entitled self promotion

I think the general feeling from gulf states that have US air bases, is a feeling of abandonment from the US after they have been attacked. But really, they should have known what they were signing up for.

I agree, it's a question that those countries will have to ask themselves, whether it is worth it anymore? Perhaps their populations will force them to answer those questions.

Some of the damage that has been inflicted on these US bases is so extensive that the governments could block them being rebuilt, allowing them an excuse to remove the bases.

It's because it contains the word rhyming with grypto, bots used to flood the boards so it's auto blocked.

That's why I talk about finance bros 😂

On Polymarket, extremely similar to insider trading and wouldn't be surprised just look at Jared Kushner and all his deals.

Why do the gulf states feel abandoned in that why can't they defend themselves ?

FrothyCothy · 02/03/2026 13:53

I imagine the only figure US politicians will look at is the number of American service men and women KIA. If that continues ticking upwards there will be more pressure at home to end things. Probably leaving an awful mess behind (again).

Maybe worried that Iran might see them taking sides with the US and Israel?

Alternativelyviewed · 02/03/2026 14:07

Why would that worry them ? They are literally being attacked by Iran how can they be on their side

The finger pointing begins, Pentagon throwing Trump under the bus:
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/pentagon-tells-congress-no-sign-that-iran-was-going-attack-us-first-sources-say-2026-03-02/ :

PENTAGON BRIEFINGS LASTED MORE THAN 90 MINUTES
Pentagon officials briefed Democratic and Republican staff of several national security committees in both the Senate and the House of Representatives for more than 90 minutes on the unfolding U.S. attack in Iran, White House spokesperson Dylan Johnson said earlier.
In the briefings, administration officials emphasized that Iran's ballistic missiles and proxy forces in the region posed an imminent threat to U.S. interests, but there was no intelligence about Tehran attacking U.S. forces first, the two sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters.
Trump said the attack, which is expected to run for weeks, aimed to ensure Iran could not have a nuclear weapon, contain its missile program and eliminate threats to the United States and its allies.
He has urged Iranians to rise up and topple the government.

He should be thrown under a bus, he didn't seek oversight from congress. This is what happens when you let one man start a war....Putin did the same and looks at how that turned out for Russia.

Trump is finished....he's done. A blow hard smuck who pays no attention to intelligence and does what he likes.

Now we all face even more economic woes and in it will impoverish us for twenty years. Gas bills, food prices, pump prices will all rise now for at least 6 months. Holiday insurance has already surged 60% in a day....

God Bless America....thanks again for dragging war to our doorstep

AtomicBlondeRose · 02/03/2026 14:18

The gulf states can defend themselves but part of
allowing US bases on their territory is feeling like they will benefit from the presence of US troops -
instead the bases have been cleared out so there aren’t even any US armed forces there! Meanwhile the gulf states take the battering as Iran tries to destroy the bases.

BerthaPotts · 02/03/2026 14:19

Alternativelyviewed · 02/03/2026 13:50

Why do the gulf states feel abandoned in that why can't they defend themselves ?

I saw one official speaking on Al Jazeera that they are being attacked simply for allowing US Air bases in their countries. But the US have really just focused most of their resources/efforts in protecting Israel hence the feeling of abandonment.

BackinRed101 · 02/03/2026 14:23

the thing thats odd in different countries is people in general prefer democracy until they think the powers at be are not doing as they think etc so why are some humans soon to turn to being mini dictators just because there democracy didnt agree with their view ?

Exactly, the Rich can afford to flee, however the poorer people in the GCC (often migrant workers and poorer locals) cannot.

Their unelected "Royal" families made the deal in the 1970s:
"The petrodollar system refers to the pact that Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states – including Kuwait and Saudi Arabia – made with the US, agreeing to price oil in dollars and to recycle revenues into US Treasury securities in return for military protection and sales of advanced weaponry."

America reneged on this deal. America moved it's Air Defence assets over the last few weeks to protect Israel leaving the GCC countries exposed.

Super-rich elite paying up to £260,000 to flee Middle East

Riyadh is becoming a key exit route for those looking for a safe route out of the Middle East, as the airport in the Saudi Arabia capital is one of few still operating.

Lebanon developments, this is the prelude to civil war, 30-40% of the Lebanese army are Shia.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/3/2/lebanese-pm-nawaf-salam-announces-ban-on-hezbollah-military-activities

"The Iran-allied Lebanese armed group said earlier on Monday that its attack was in retaliation for the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, “in defence of Lebanon and its people” and “in response to the repeated Israeli aggressions”."

Unfortunately, Iran supported these terrorist organisations, Hezbollah, Hamas, The Houthis, etc and Iran has destabilised the wider area due to this. All the terrorist organisations are good for nothing and need to go. Sadly, some in the west see them as good guys and have even sung ditties about these groups or chanted in support. However, these terrorists don't care for the people at all.

Qatar have just shot down two Iranian fighter jets !!

the US should be protecting them.
It's their bases Iran is going for.

Wouldn’t be surprised if all countries refuse the US airbases in the future.

I feel for Qatar, that must have been a terrible decision to make

They are. That does not mean that Qatar isn’t also responsible for its own defense.

The relationship between Qatar and the U.S is stronger than the relationship between Qatar and Iran. The demise of the Iranian regime is also in Qatar’s interest.
