US strikes Iran

mjf981 · 28/02/2026 07:59

In conjunction with Israel.
Why? Starting wars has never ever ended well for the US, or for the country they are trying to 'help.'

Yes, it will be another day of reckless bombing, with more countries thrown in the mix, particularly Lebanon.
More loss of civilians lives to come.

And this 👆is what everyone who has cheered this war on needs to remember, there are people losing their lives, and losing their loved ones.

Twiglets1 · 02/03/2026 07:25

Stirabout · 02/03/2026 01:07

Mm
so

Cyprus says there were no bombs headed towards Cyprus
Cyprus says the country is safe
The U.K. say there were bombs headed in the direction showing the need to defend itself
but Cyprus says there were no bombs

The bombs are a lie by either the US or Israel or both to get the U.K. to join in the war or at the very least to get the U.K. to allow the US to use its airbases

hay presto 👏👏👏 and Starmer has fallen for it ( or does he know and need an excuse 🤷‍♀️)
Lets not beat about the bush here
Its black and white ( imo of course )

The Cypriot president confirmed that an unmanned Shahed drone was used to strike the RAF Akrotiri base at midnight local time (10pm GMT).

Explosions were heard near the base in the Limassol area and British servicemen received an alert warning of a “security threat”, urging them to take cover.

There were no casualties but the airfield apparently sustained minor damage.

Shahed drones are a type of kamikaze drone that function like guided missiles, designed to hit a specific target.

Why don't the other gulf nations defend themselves ?

They do......

AtomicBlondeRose · 02/03/2026 07:39

The gulf nations have been working flat out for two days straight intercepting missiles, which is why there’s been relatively little civilian damage and casualties.

AtomicBlondeRose · 02/03/2026 07:43

Also, and I have this from varying first-hand sources throughout the region, the amount and severity of strikes are being hugely underreported here.

That wouldn't be a complete surprise.

I know some people will yell censorship but posting videos of strikes, damage and near misses gives the Iranians a free look at how they are doing (aka Battle Damage Assessment, or BDA).

There was a similar problem with SM and the MSM in the early days of the Ukraine conflict.

Iran requested talks with the US after the first strikes on Iran
initially Trump was evasive
he said Theyd had their chance
he said Theyd need to agree to all US/Israeli points in the agreement

European leaders and the U.K. pushed for talks
and
Trump decided he would have talks
but at the moment he’s busy with the war

A senior White House official said Iran’s “new potential leadership” has suggested it is open to talks with the United States. That official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal administration deliberations, said Trump has indicated he’s “eventually” willing to talk but that for now the military operation “continues unabated.”

The official did not say who the potential new Iranian leaders are or how they made their alleged willingness to talk known. Separately, Trump told The Atlantic that he planned to speak with Iran’s new leadership.
“They want to talk, and I have agreed to talk, so I will be talking to them,” he said Sunday, declining comment on the timing.

I think Trump’s being a bit elastic with the Truth here and is playing for his domestic audience who are mightily pissed off that American soldiers have died in Trump’s war of choice.

Trump lies like he breathes, he's looking for an off ramp. He ignored the market analysts who said this action could fuck up the financial markets. We're all going to feel this via higher prices.

Iran likely will talk or has to say they're willing to, to keep Russia and China.

P.s. waiting for confirmation that Hezbollah joined in last night by sending drones.

MushMonster · 02/03/2026 08:11

Oh, Hezbollah did send rockets for sure. I have not heard of drones, bit I would not be surprised. I believe that they actually hit ground.

It really hurts to watch Lebanon dragged into a war yet again, by a group that does not obey or follow any lead from the actual government of Lebanon. Nevermind what the legitimate sovereign Lebanon does, they always get dragged in and bombed.

The BBC is reporting that Starmer had confirmed Cyprus wasn't a target. How would a drone intended to hit a specific target end up in Cyprus if Cyprus wasn't the target. There are also reports of two ballistic missiles directed towards Cyprus earlier in the day. Israel is nearly 300 miles from Cyprus so the drone and missiles were way off target if that's where they were supposed to go.

A Cypriot government spokesman later said Sir Keir had "clearly confirmed that Cyprus was not a target" during a telephone call with the country's president Nikos Christodoulides.

I don't think this story adds up. The missiles and drone are justification for allowing the US to use UK bases but Cyprus wasn't the target so we're not getting involved in offensive action? Sounds like cake and eat it bullshit to me with a side order if the US trying to make a case for the strategic importance of the Chagos Islands.

Yup, I am sad for Lebanon especially the South. They've been bombed almost daily since the ceasefire in 2024.

I think that comment referred to a separate incident in which Israel had intercepted missiles that were heading towards Cyprus but apparently weren't specifically aimed at Cyprus.

With this latest attack, it seems pretty clear that the target was intentional.

Agreed, for whatever reason a lot of people are conflating the two separate incident

This is also from the same article, seems to me it's referring to the drone because it describes an "attack".

President of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said she had been briefed on the attack by Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.

"While the Republic of Cyprus was not the target, let me be clear: we stand collectively, firmly and unequivocally with our Member States in the face of any threat," she said in a statement on social media.

Israel is 263 miles top to bottom and 71 miles at it's widest point. Iran has had no problem accurately targeting it. How can a missile be heading towards Cyprus if Cyprus is not the target? We're being lied to.

I'm not suggesting what follows is overly credible but remember (?) missiles malfunction.

Get a map look at the relative positions of Iran, Israel and Cyprus and you'll see it's possible for a missile/missiles overshooting Israel to be "heading in the direction of Cyprus".

You think I didn't check a map, to determine if my suspicions had merit, as soon as the story broke?

The point I'm making is that Israel itself is smaller than the distance between Israel and Cyprus so an overshoot seems implausible. Two missiles malfunctioning with the same outcome? And that's our justification for letting the US use our bases?

A drone "crashing" into a military base hurting no one and doing minimal damage?

RudolphTheReindeer · 02/03/2026 09:55

I read this morning several us fighter jets crashed in Kuwait. How is that possible? Inside sabotage? Dodgy fuel? It's very strange

Out of interest why do you think an overshoot is implausible?

Despite the accuracy claims published and oft repeated by the MSM many weapons systems, especially older designs, have a decent failure rate.

Lebanon terrorist group The Houthis have been firing rockets into Israel on and off for some time . The terrorists don't need an excuse to become involved. They don't have to be involved, its their choice. The terrorist proxies of Iran all need dealing with, none if them are any good for their own citizens. They don't care about their own people at all.

It is called Hezbollah.
And, yes it is Hezbollah's fault for shooting from Lebanon.
But it is a paramilitary group. Actual government of Lebanon is not controlling Hezbollah and did not want to get involved.

My mistake Hezbollah who were cut back with the pager attack. All these terrorist groups in the region seem all to act in a similar manner, attack Israel, stick with Iran, give no shits about thriving people. They blur into one similar type of shit terrorist. 🙄

I agree the actual government of Lebanon don't want to be involved. Innocent people get killed.

All these countries have problems with their respective terrorists so Iran regime fall might mean less support for terrorism. Could the individual countries do anything themselves to deal with their own terrorists.

Rumour is it was one singlecrash and was.possibly a "blue on blue" with.one of the local air forces.

All TBC.

Interesting, there are several different videos and CNN has reported that the Kuwaiti Government said several planes crashed.

Perhaps, some sort of EMP?

BBC reporting several (according to Kuwait military reports). As you say we will wait to tbc. It would be odd if several went down. One would seem far more likely.
