If you could live in a fictional house from any film...

Which one would it be? I'll go first. The Father Of The Bride house. It's just so lovely and welcoming. I imagine it would be so cozy at Christmas too... I live on my own so obviously it would be me and five cats.

I know most of you will probably say the Mrs Doubtfire house but I cannot be arsed with hills!

Maybe one day - at least I know how to celebrate when I have a windfall eh?!

Yes! I've been for the day but I bet it's lovely when the crowds leave!

The Home Alone house goes without saying! But I also loved the one in Miracle on 34th Street and I always wanted an apartment like in Friends!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 20/02/2026 22:32

Flipping this - what I don’t want is Mulder’s apartment in The X Files where he sleeps on the sofa.

Kickinthenostalgia · 20/02/2026 22:38

Mrs doubtfire house
obviously home alone
the miracle on 34th street catalog house
the wheelers house in stranger things ain’t too shabby either… Steve Harrington house aswell

carbonelthecat · 20/02/2026 22:38

Not big or grand, but I have always fancied living in Gregory Peck's apartment in Roman Holiday.

The floor piano was in a department store

Yes, it was FAO Schwartz. Used to take DS there when we lived in NYC

Mumteedum · 20/02/2026 22:41

I can't think of any from films.

TV shows... The one from Sex Education. Or Harry Bosch's house. I like a view !

Velentia · 20/02/2026 22:42

Badger's House from the animated Wind in the Willows. Snug and cosy in the deep winter.

CorvusPurpureus · 20/02/2026 22:43

Saltburn.
Or Green Knowe or Trennels if we’re allowing houses from books…

Bigearringsbigsmile · 20/02/2026 22:23

Cracker's house. I yearn for that 1980s sociology lecturer look- all big plants and wooden floors and turkish rugs.

You'd love our cottage 🤣 although it's orchids I like to grow

I've visited the house owned by the Green Know author. It was a school trip. The teacher warned us it was colder in the house than outside. She was not wrong

MsGreying · 20/02/2026 22:48

The house the borrowers lived in. I'd want them to stay.

RainBow725 · 20/02/2026 22:49

Bosch’s LA apartment in Bosch or the flat in Shallow Grave - minus the dead body!

The Brown’s house in Paddington. Gorgeous.

Yes this one. At the very least, their staircase.

Harry Bosch/the house in The Lincoln Lawyer (they are not the same but very similar views).

This house in the film Play Misty For Me has always appealed, though the film is creepy!

Several of the houses mentioned here are on that site actually!

This Cute Carmel Cottage Appeared in a Clint Eastwood Movie

This charming cottage in Carmel, California, appeared in the 1971 thriller Play Misty for Me, starring Clint Eastwood and Jessica Walter.

Longbourn (1995 edition)

It was for sale a few years ago.
My husband refused to buy it. The utter scoundrel

Abigailandthefoxes · 20/02/2026 22:58

Sept-Tors, Marcus’s house,Sarah & Em’s house, Matthew’s BiL Mayfair house, the house the stay in, in New Orleans. (That show is my property porn)

the Mikaelson’s House in the Originals (I have been past it and that courtyard is gorgeous)

Anne of Green Gables house.

Me too. I want to live in Green Gables

The tree house in the 1960 Swiss Family Robinson film.

The Witches ice castle from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe - obviously in this instance I can withstand the cold and I am also a beautiful witch who rules Narnia. I would probably be a nicer ruler than her but I don’t know, power may well go to my head.

DancingLions · 20/02/2026 23:07

The house from 13 ghosts, minus the evil ghosts! I remember there being a lot of gold and glass and it was really quirky. I'd love to live in a really unique house.
