If you could live in a fictional house from any film...

Which one would it be? I'll go first. The Father Of The Bride house. It's just so lovely and welcoming. I imagine it would be so cozy at Christmas too... I live on my own so obviously it would be me and five cats.

I know most of you will probably say the Mrs Doubtfire house but I cannot be arsed with hills!

I always wanted the house in clueless especially the wardrobe.

The mention of a wardrobe has sent me off into a complete flight of fancy. I'd love the Professor's house from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. The house itself would be interesting to explore but of course the best thing would be stepping into the wardrobe and visiting Narnia.

Any house in the Ewok village. Comes with stolen speeder bike. You get to bag off with Han Solo.

Buddinghell · 20/02/2026 21:54

Oh and any of the places Dickie and Marg in The Talented Mr Ripley live.

GetInLoser12 · 20/02/2026 21:56

My main two have already been mentioned (Practical Magic and Call Me By Your Name houses) but notable mention to the New Orleans house in American Horror Story: Coven (not a film I know but it’s so gorgeous).

Can't be arsed with fancy. I just want the Kennedy house in Neighbours. Nicely manageable, plenty of unobtrusive rooms for guests that don't require any attention/cleaning most of the time, and space underneath the building for all the crap. Okay, I might lose the open plan kitchen.

LadyCrustybread · 20/02/2026 21:58

The Practical Magic house complete with garden! Or anything else with one of those lovely American porches. How I wish we had those.

Harry’s NY apartment in When Harry Met Sally. Or Susan Sarandon’s house in Stepmom.

Actually I like Jess & Marie’s apartment as well 😊

IdentityCris · 20/02/2026 22:02

I want the prefects' bathroom at Hogwarts. Without Moaning Myrtle, obvs.

With or without the wagon wheel coffee table?

stringbean · 20/02/2026 22:10

Haha - yes, that can definitely stay outside 🤣

Vladandpickle · 20/02/2026 22:11

The house in the Paddington films

Yeah but I hear the windows in the drawing room are full West.

Good spot, Lady Catherine... 😄

Afterlife

Chatterlyssecret · 20/02/2026 22:17

The Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Mill.

You can! Well people can. But it's so expensive... even if I go on their website I can hear my bank account crying!

nopiesleftinthisvehicle · 20/02/2026 22:17

Sharon Stone's beach house in Basic Instinct.

Or Julia Roberts' Beach house in Sleeping With The Enemy (sans psychotic husband obviously)

Jamesblonde2 · 20/02/2026 22:19

Oh yes OP love the film and the house, the white picket fence.

Maybe one day - at least I know how to celebrate when I have a windfall eh?!

Bigearringsbigsmile · 20/02/2026 22:23

Cracker's house. I yearn for that 1980s sociology lecturer look- all big plants and wooden floors and turkish rugs.

burblish · 20/02/2026 22:23

Pemberley (if we are allowed houses from TV programmes - the 1995 BBC P&P), Cher's house from Clueless, or the Von Trapp mansion from The Sound of Music. Obviously, with an army of cleaners in each case.

Brideshead Castle 😍

Ha, you beat me to it!

Maximusdecimus · 20/02/2026 22:26

i Know it’s not directly correlated but Richard E Grants house is the most beautiful house I’ve ever seen.
