How many glasses of water do you have a day?

If a glass is a pint?

I’ve drank almost three pints today and will probably have another three before bed. I don’t have to force myself or anything, I’m thirsty if I drink any less than this a day.

DH thinks it’s excessive and my family are always teasing me about drinking a lot of water. I don’t understand how they’re not more thirsty.

How much do you drink?

Not water but very, very weak diluted juice, usually about 4 pints a day.

AGlessandahalf · 15/02/2026 17:07

That’s just short of 3 litres. 2-3 litres is recommended fluid intake. Do you drink any other fluids?

BigFishLittleFishCardboardBoxes · 15/02/2026 17:11

None. I only drink hot drinks, tea or herbal tea.

Foodylicious · 15/02/2026 17:11

O glasses here.
2-6 cups of coffee, and maybe some squash or Lucozade sport.
I dislike water on its own most of the time.
I have a few sips morning and night with tablets.

When its hot in summer, or I've done exercise I will drink some.

Iloveeverycat · 15/02/2026 17:12

Elbowpatch · 15/02/2026 17:13

I think it’s around three and a half litres, but normal. I have a couple of coffees or peppermint teas most days.

3 cups of tea and coffee. 1-2 glasses of water. Not much but I don’t really get thirsty so tend to forget to drink. If I had 6 pints of water I would be on the loo all day.

Do you not get thirsty and need to gulp something down whilst or after eating?

3 of cups of tea couple cups of coffee. No water

It has actually blown my mind that some people don’t drink anything cold. I’d be so, so thirsty.

I drink about 2.5L every day.
It’s all I drink (except alcohol on the odd occasion), I don’t drink tea/coffee/juice/squash/fizzy - only water.
Some people are less thirsty than others!

DramaAlpaca · 15/02/2026 17:16

I drink about three pints of water, three or four mugs of tea and one coffee a day.

ChubbyPuffling · 15/02/2026 17:17

I drink 5 mugs of tea a day (about 1400ml) plus 3 small glasses of water with tablets (about 450ml)

So almost 2l,but not all just water.

If you are craving water as in needing to gulp lots, you might want to get yourself checked for diabetes.

Ineffable23 · 15/02/2026 17:20

I drink probably 1-1.5L water plus 250-500ml tea. I already feel like I have to wee a lot!

Foodylicious · 15/02/2026 17:20

In what way do you feel thirsty OP?
Do you have a dry mouth alot of the time?
Needing to 'gulp something down' with after meals isn't normal for most I don't think?
I do think everyone's normal is different.
I often have my last drink of the day at work, so before 5pm.
Its not deliberate, it just might not occur to me to have a drink once I'm home.

I also dont have a drink before I get to work. Though thats mostly just my routine. I get up, we get ready, we leave the house.
I have breakfast at work mid morning maybe.

Honestly? No. I rarely get thirsty.

SisterTeatime · 15/02/2026 17:20

I drink loads. easily 3 litres most days plus other drinks (tea, coffee mainly). I have to add electrolytes sometimes as otherwise I become more thirsty and know the water is probably washing everything out of me.

As well as peeing a lot, I sweat quite a lot and am generally ‘watery’. I get visibly dehydrated quickly.

I don’t know why I am like this! But I love drinking water.

The recommended fluid intake is 2 to 2.5 litres, and that includes water from solid food.

Losingitalloveragain · 15/02/2026 17:22

No plain water. 3 x tea/coffee and a can of fizzy drink and a glass of tonic water

bluebelle78 · 15/02/2026 17:24

I drink about 3 litres of Vimto and 2/3 cups of tea or coffee each day. Don't like water on its own:

notacooldad · 15/02/2026 17:24

GreenEyesIsBack · 15/02/2026 17:24

Probably 2-3 pints of water and at least 5 cups of tea.
They're the only things I drink other than alcohol.

Magsbd · 15/02/2026 17:31

NHS website recommends 6 to 8 cups/glasses fluids per day - this should also include cups of tea, coffee, juice etc, and that your pea should be pale yellow in colour. It is possible to drink too much fluids per day and 3 pints sounds a lot to me.I’m nearly 80, very healthy, and have never given it a thought how much water I drink per day.
It wasn’t a “thing” when I was young.
