How many glasses of water do you have a day?

If a glass is a pint?

I’ve drank almost three pints today and will probably have another three before bed. I don’t have to force myself or anything, I’m thirsty if I drink any less than this a day.

DH thinks it’s excessive and my family are always teasing me about drinking a lot of water. I don’t understand how they’re not more thirsty.

How much do you drink?

I'm probably hovering around the 2l mark after ensuring I try and drink more. Last year I had kidney stones and was aware I wasn't drinking enough. I now have chemo once a week and am determined to flush it out to avoid too many side effects. I have a bottle that holds 750ml I drink that minimum sometimes refill and get part way through the second, another 500ml with a vit C/D tablet in it and about 4/5 cups of tea a day. I've noticed now I drink more that my bladder holds way more than it used to, its quite impressive actually haha.

DemonsandMosquitoes · 15/02/2026 19:50

None. Two coffees and a can of Diet Coke.

ImPamDoove · 15/02/2026 19:53

I take a glass to bed with me and drink a tiny amount to swallow magnesium, a multivitamin and NMN. I take a bottle to the gym, but don’t drink beyond a sip. That’s all the water I drink.

Needing to ‘gulp something down’ whilst eating is not normal. My sister does this, but she has oesophageal motility disorder.

It’s not whilst having the physical food in my mouth. It’s that eating makes me thirsty.

None.

I'd be forever running to the toilet if I drank 5 pints of water a day.

stopringingme · 15/02/2026 20:06

At least 3 litres of water a day.

Most days some fresh juice - beetroot or pomegranate.

Coconut water

Liptons iced lemon tea

No hot drinks except when I have a cold and then I drink hot honey and lemon or a herbal tea

Always have to have a drink whilst eating.

Fizbosshoes · 15/02/2026 20:08

Typical day 200-500ml
Hot day or doing a long run , 1-1.5l
I drink diet fizzy drinks or squash, maybe a glass of wine at weekends. No hot drinks.
I dont find water more thirst quenching than other cold drinks.

LindorDoubleChoc · 15/02/2026 20:08

I have less than half a pint. Maybe about a standard tumbler full, just before bed and during the night if I need it.

Fizbosshoes · 15/02/2026 20:11

I made a concerted effort to drink more water last year , "more" being up to 1 litre.
I didnt find it made any difference to my skin, hunger, energy levels etc...the only difference was needing to wee, many more times a day!

TheFormidableMrsC · 15/02/2026 20:12

I try and make sure I drink at least 1.5L a day

louderthan · 15/02/2026 20:17

At least a litre of water a day, usually closer to two.
Probably also two teas and one coffee a day, and a mint tea in the evening.
Sometimes a Diet Coke with lunch.

FindleBindle · 15/02/2026 20:20

I drink lots of water but a lot less than before I started HRT. I still always have water with me. I always have water with my meals even if I’m eating out and I always have a pint of water with me at home. The HRT cured me of my raging thirst though.

My MIL is 99 and still healthy with amazing skin for someone her age. She has recently started to drink water but this is only in the last few years. Previous to this she almost never drank water and only drank a couple of small’ish coffees and small brandy each day. She did drink a lot of fruit and veg though. She didn’t get the memo about how important it is to drink water.

OcadoQT · 15/02/2026 20:24

I drink 2L of water a day (if I’m in the house, I can’t drink that out the house without going to the toilet too much!) I have a water bottle full am, and then pm. And I drink about 3-4 other non water drinks a day as well, tea and the like.

BiscoffCheesecakes · 15/02/2026 20:28

I drink a minimum of 1.5 Stanley cups of water a day (1.5 litres?) plus around 5 cups of tea. I absolutely love water & carry a bottle around with me whenever I go out & always have my Stanley cup nearby. I exercise daily too so need the fluids. As a kid I don't remember ever drinking it really, only squash. I now make sure my dds are drinking enough. They're both really good with drinking water

I’m with you, I get thirsty. A spin class I might drink a litre of water during and I always have a drink on the go

today I’ve had 2 mugs of tea, a can of diet iron bru winter and about 3 pints of weak squash

LindorDoubleChoc · 15/02/2026 20:51

I never saw my grandmother (who lived to almost 95) or mother (lived to 92.5) drink a glass of water in their lives. On a really hot day in the summer they might have been tempted by a glass of orange squash.

TommorrowsToday · 15/02/2026 20:55

I drink about 1.5 to 2l water a day. Plus two coffees, and one herbal tea. Sometimes the odd juice.

LindorDoubleChoc · 15/02/2026 20:56

I'm another one who never drinks with food. Not even wine.

Needspaceforlego · 15/02/2026 21:04

I always laugh at the 'you should drink 6-8 glasses per day' surely that depends on the size of the glass, which they never define!

Op do you eat lots of ready meals or have lots of salt because lots of salt or salty food does make me thirsty.

TheGirlWhoLived · 15/02/2026 21:06

I drink water by the bottle rather than a glass and have 2x 800ml bottles of plain water plus a couple cups of coffee and a can or two of dash sparkling water

MummyInTheNecropolis · 15/02/2026 21:31

I drink at least 4 litres a day. I have an iced coffee in the morning and a can of Pepsi max in the evening but other than that I just drink water. I don’t have diabetes but I am on mounjaro and I do a lot of exercise which makes me thirsty. I’m not sure if the Mounjaro causes thirst but I definitely drink a lot more since I’ve been on it.

OnTheBoardwalk · 15/02/2026 21:36

none apart from a coconut water bottle

I WFH and used to drink loads of filtered water in the office. This thread does remind me I need to actually drink water

Missey85 · 15/02/2026 21:38

No water I drink coffee 😊☕

Designless · 15/02/2026 21:38

Not sure but I like a lot of water (usually fizzy)
