What automatically makes you think people are idiots?

1000 replies

FMLGFastMovingLuxuryGoods · 05/02/2026 16:00

For me it’s:

people who think that Michael Jackson isn’t a pedophile.

people who say things like “Londanistan” “Bradfordistan”

People who say “If the Holocaust is real, why do the tattoo numbers only go up to 5 digits”

OP posts:
PrizedPickledPopcorn · 05/02/2026 16:59

People who are nasty about those they disagree with.

bobby81 · 05/02/2026 16:59

People who think everyone who works for the NHS is an ‘angel’ or a ‘hero’

Anti vaxxers

Some people who home educate

Boomers who just can’t understand how fortunate they were to be able to buy cheap property

Anyone who criticises JK Rowling

Gahr · 05/02/2026 17:00

People who say 'spenny' when they mean expensive. Moronic.
People who bang on about 'Free Palestine' and 'Globalise the Infitada'.

Iusedtoshopatsafeway · 05/02/2026 17:01

Parking on double yellows

Bad driving

Dropping litter

Candlestickinthediningroom · 05/02/2026 17:01

People who think rules are for other people.

Jaq27 · 05/02/2026 17:02

People who listen to loud music on public transport are idiots.
USE YOUR HEADPHONES.
Idiot.

xOlive · 05/02/2026 17:02

Anti-vaxxers.
TRAs.
Ignorant/oblivious drivers.

ParmaViolletts · 05/02/2026 17:03

People who talk at you and assume you agree with them
People who are so virulent about their views you don't share your own (.hence they never hear anything else ).they are the pub bore types who think they have everyone on side.

People who say...genuine question i want to talk and understand the other view ( on here ) when they don't

Iusedtoshopatsafeway · 05/02/2026 17:03

Oh and I need to add

OWs who think they are “special” and therefore immune to history repeating itself, in denial that their DP/DH is a rat

Lottapianos · 05/02/2026 17:04

'Adult Disney fans'

Yes, this. I used to work with an adult woman who had Winnie the Pooh everything - socks, umbrella, sweatshirt, pens, notebook, bag. It was weird and vaguely creepy

Reform voters
People who read the Daily Mail as a serious source of news
Anti vaxxers
Brexit voters / supporters
Pet owners who don't want the work involved
Parents who don't want the work involved

FlowerFairyDaisy · 05/02/2026 17:05

A few months ago, anyone who put a Union Flag on a lamppost in our town, or showed their support of it.

Sevenofthem · 05/02/2026 17:05

Reform voters (basically DH whole family)

emmetgirl · 05/02/2026 17:06

People who think there’s a conspiracy to stop Christmas being called Christmas
Hanging flags on lampposts
Painting England flags on roundabouts
Believing Nigel Farage has their best interests at heart
Believing asylum seekers are given a life of luxury as soon as they get off a boat
Anti vaxers

OldieButBaddie · 05/02/2026 17:06

Anti vaxxers

People who go on and on on NextDoor about things like the 20mph speed limit, the ULEZ, Londistan etc on every post (eg my cat is missing - probably been stabbed to death by Sadiq Kahn (sic))

Racists

Misogynists

Anyone with a personalised number plate

Anyone with an SUV in London or other big city

FlashingFairyLight · 05/02/2026 17:08

People without any foresight or thought of how their actions will affect others.
E.g. ignoring keep clear markings and blocking the flow of traffic; obliviously abandoning their trolley in the middle of the aisle while they browse milk; not waiting two fucking seconds when a footpath narrows, forcing other people to walk on the muddy verge etc etc.

People who use the laughter emoji to discredit others opinions.

People who feel superior because of inherited wealth, or educational opportunities their parents gave them.

Youdontseehow · 05/02/2026 17:08

Sartre · 05/02/2026 16:02

Bradistan has been around since the 70s. I agree it’s stupid but it isn’t recent.

Holocaust deniers are next level stupid. Ditto flat earthers, David Icke fans, people who think star signs actually mean anything.

I saw something hilarious online which was a meeting for the flat earth society which said they had meetings “all around the globe”.

could be an urban myth but it made me laugh

Underthinker · 05/02/2026 17:10

I think most people I meet are jolly clever, but it's all relative.

I don't think assuming intelligence based on voting preference is a sound idea, both left and right wings have people with extreme high and low intelligence.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/02/2026 17:12

People who write ‘loose’ when they mean ‘lose’.
Ditto ‘your’ when they mean ‘you’re’.

Twolargewatersplease · 05/02/2026 17:13

'I must of...'

I have often replied with 'I of done that before too..'.

AgnesMcDoo · 05/02/2026 17:13

Anti vaxxers
Flat earthers

TirednessOnToast · 05/02/2026 17:15

I try not to automatically think 'others are idiots' because they're different to me. I have strong opinions on things, but who's to say I'm right & they're wrong?

But I have difficulty with racists, mysogynists, bullies or people who're intolerant of others opinions on religion, politics etc (we all have different life experiences).
I hope I am a tolerant person and I hope to teach my children to be the same.

Having said that, I would walk on by if I saw, eg Trump or Epstein (aware he is dead..), Maxwell, Mandleson or Farage & Co in difficulty at the side of the road.

LifeonMarss · 05/02/2026 17:15

True crime enjoyers, specifically the ones who treat it like a gory film that they think they can solve from their armchair rather than real life trauma.

HorrorPudding · 05/02/2026 17:18

Same as many of the above,

MLM joiners, especially now there is so much more information that a joiner will almost certainly lose money.

Believers in homeopathy’s ability to cure anything despite the absolutely resounding evidence it can’t work.

People who cite others arriving on boats as the source of all problems in this country just because that’s what certain individuals [with their hands in the till] have told them.

Bad spelling and grammar especially online from someone busy patronising others - not bright enough to check the basics before they try and tell everyone else how clever they are.

Antivaxxers especially those not vaccinating their children

People who misuse the reflexive pronoun in an attempt to look sophisticated.

Racists

Connected to MLM, people who believe in Law of Attraction/manifesting and think The Secret is amazing

Readers of things like Mills & Boon

Couples who wear those tops where his top say “King” and her top says “His Queen” or some similar misogynistic crap.

People who diagnose behaviour they don’t like as narcissistic

People who can’t cope with any kind of debate or criticism, shutting it down with hashtag be kind

Rozendantz · 05/02/2026 17:18

People who don't appear to know how to put their phone to their ear to talk, so instead hold it nearby on loudspeaker so that both sides of the conversation can be heard several blocks away.

People who actually follow the advice of 'influencers'. Sadly this is often the same people who end up with weird looking cosmetic procedures etc.

BillieWiper · 05/02/2026 17:19

Well yeah all of your examples OP. Thank fuck I've never met anyone who said anything like that.

People that say that 'loads of women make up being victims of DV/SA'. I seriously don't think many do. Far far more say bugger all about it.
