Have you ever wondered how many baby bels you have ever bought?

My DC are currently 14 and 18. Both have been obsessed with baby bels since weaning. The 18 yo saw me cutting one up for the 14yo (just me or do we all do that? And yes I know he's old enough not to need them cutting up but that's another issue, another post) and I asked her.... how many do you think I have bought over the last 18 years. She stared at me and said " well you me and DS eat them so...." and when I told her that I NEVER eat a baby bel she looked at me as though I had two heads.

They are one of the things I get a cold sweat about if I open the fridge and see I have run out.

So how many? Thousands probably. I'd love to know. I should have bought shares. Is it just me? Am I entitled to some free ones by now?

That's easy. A big fat zero.

Loloblue · 27/01/2026 19:59

I have literally never wondered this but it's cute and made me smile.

NotThatSerious · 27/01/2026 19:59

Millions. I’m sure. We buy them from Costco so you get a bejillion in a pack anyway. Dc went through the obsession too although they have since weaned themselves off them so no Babybel rehab needed

70ish/month (2 of the big Costco bags) every 4 weeks for the last 10 years…so what’s that, 13x70x10=9,100 babybels…give or take?

Deathby · 27/01/2026 20:00

I think I've had about 6 today already, I grab one every time I swing past the fridge. The kids have a least 3 a day each. My maths is shocking but I imagine that's a LOT.

ZenNudist · 27/01/2026 20:00

How do you cut up a babybel?

GalaxyJam · 27/01/2026 20:02

I don’t know how many I’ve bought (less than 100 at a guess), but I have never, ever chopped one up! Who chops up a babybel, and to what end?!

CraftyNavySeal · 27/01/2026 20:02

At Christmas you could buy full size Babybels and it annoyed me that they weren’t just called Bels. The ones you normally get are Mini Babybels. How big would a Bel actually be 🤔

EdinaTheConfessor · 27/01/2026 20:03

Ahhh we used to always have babybels in but the DC have gone off them in recent years. Probably just as well as I couldn’t open the fridge without nabbing one.

These days it’s pepperamis (well, the Aldi version) DC2 is obsessed with them we get through approx 1,857,298 per year. (Don’t judge I know they are full of salt, but also, protein 😊)

Mysteise · 27/01/2026 20:04

Quite a lot! But the very best was a giant one when I want to Nice with my dh. Why oh why don’t they sell the massive ones here and only in France! We ate big chunks out of it in our hotel room.

tinglywingly · 27/01/2026 20:04

Probably thousands!
We love them - we buy bags of the ‘Light’ ones - they’re Lactose free.

user405927 · 27/01/2026 20:04

I’ve never bought them. I do like cheese though. How much are they?

Enko · 27/01/2026 20:05

I think 2 packs. Kids didnt like them.

The cathedral city bites though..loads and loads

HRTQueen · 27/01/2026 20:08

Around 3000 a week when I was doing the Atkins diet (about 20 years)

you would see women everywhere peeling the rind off and we would give each other a knowing smile or grimace depending how many weeks you were in

If you like cheese then you probably won’t like babybel… they don’t bear much resemblance to actual cheese!

Crumbelina · 27/01/2026 20:09

My daughters don't like them, but if I had to estimate the number of bagels, crumpets and packs of Yoyos I've bought it would be immense.

Contrarymary30 · 27/01/2026 20:10

I am dieting atm so 3 light baby bells an apple and a tomato every lunch time for the past 6 weeks ! I find not having to think about what to eat helps to keep me on track . Baby belles from Aldi are about 40 cals each !

Davros · 27/01/2026 20:11

Maybe one bag once, long ago

Notmyreality · 27/01/2026 20:12

No

TheKateColumbo · 27/01/2026 20:13

Only one of my four likes them so not that many. DH loves them, which is why I don’t buy many of them as he’d just scoff the pack.
I don’t mind them. I used to love the goats cheese ones but haven’t seen them anywhere for years.
I’ve never cut one up though, why would you?!?!

VikaOlson · 27/01/2026 20:15

Probably 6 a week for the last 15 years so... quite a lot.

I've never cut one up or even considered cutting one up though?

BoarBrush · 27/01/2026 20:19

I don't think I've ever bought any. Apparently I absolutely loved them as a kid, must've been a toddler as they were certainly never in the house from 5+

They are cheese?

They taste like very vaguely cheese flavoured rubber 🤷🏻‍♀️

Needmorelego · 27/01/2026 20:24

My daughter used to love them until she ate an entire bag in one go and got belly ache 🤢
I've been trying to think of snacks I can have in my bag when I am out and about so I might start buying them again.
I used to like to squish down the wax and mould it into shapes.
(I also used to cut them up - my girl liked having them in slices 🙂)
