Have you ever wondered how many baby bels you have ever bought?

My DC are currently 14 and 18. Both have been obsessed with baby bels since weaning. The 18 yo saw me cutting one up for the 14yo (just me or do we all do that? And yes I know he's old enough not to need them cutting up but that's another issue, another post) and I asked her.... how many do you think I have bought over the last 18 years. She stared at me and said " well you me and DS eat them so...." and when I told her that I NEVER eat a baby bel she looked at me as though I had two heads.

They are one of the things I get a cold sweat about if I open the fridge and see I have run out.

So how many? Thousands probably. I'd love to know. I should have bought shares. Is it just me? Am I entitled to some free ones by now?

Maybe a dozen? I don’t think my kids liked them.

I appreciated the information from the pp actually

I have no problem with information . I have an issue with placing other peoples post as a thinly disquised "learning tool" . Additionally the poster didnt like it when I returned the favour..

You cut up babybels? Don’t you have teeth?

I think I’ve probably bought 24 if that in my lifetime

70ish/month (2 of the big Costco bags) every 4 weeks for the last 10 years…so what’s that, 13x70x10=9,100 babybels…give or take?

Costco?? Whaaat? Big bags? I have been buying in six packs from Booths or maybe 10s from Asda. Big bags would have saved me millions!

None but I've never bought cheese in my adult life 🤮 absolutely rank.

EnchantedDaytimes · 28/01/2026 11:56

Probably only a few packets ever, the DCs moved onto real cheese pretty quickly and I don't like them, far too bland. There were some stronger ones in yellow wrappers once upon a time but which were better. I have never in my lie cut one up.

Edit - I know they are real cheese, but I meant from blocks as opposed to tiny packages. They won't touch anything milder than Extra Mature cheddar now and I'm the same.

Eightdayz · 28/01/2026 12:00

None. Dont like rubbery cheese.

Yeah Costco do bags of 30 or 35 something like that. We go through a lot of them. I leave Costco and I’ve spent £100-£150 on dairy for the next 4 weeks including the big 1kg block of cheese, 2 1kg bags of grated cheese, about 80 billion yoghurts…the kids love dairy.

BarbaraKirksKaftan · 28/01/2026 12:08

Probably less than 10.

mydogisthebest · 28/01/2026 12:12

None. They are horrible

I drummed into my niece that Babybel isn't real cheese so she didn't expect soft Auntie to panda to her every whim.

It's pander. And you sound ridiculous.

Why lie?

OctopusSting · 28/01/2026 13:05

Take the rind off, put them on a plate and microwave for 30 seconds. It’s the only way to eat a baby bell once you’ve tried it 😂

Meadowfinch · 28/01/2026 13:10

Two nets of 12 I think, until ds grumbled they were tasteless and flabby.

He prefers real cheese, usually mature cheddar and I don't eat cheese so they were never popular in our house.

TemperanceBooth · 28/01/2026 13:21

My 21 year old eats one nearly every day.
Now also curious how much he's cost me in BabyBels! And curious if I can join Costco.....

This thread inspired me to buy a pack today.
£2.89 in Lidl for 10. It's so long since I've bought some I don't know if that's expensive or good price.
My daughter said "I dare you to eat the wax".
She's very odd 😂

HolesInTheAlbertHall · 28/01/2026 20:41

What is sad, is you won't know the last time you buy a bad for the kids. But one day you stop

Dont you keep a spreadsheet?

Poor form.

If you like cheese then you probably won’t like babybel… they don’t bear much resemblance to actual cheese!

I love cheese, all cheese and love Babybels. They are cheese.

cherrymauve · 28/01/2026 20:52

Probably about 10 max

MrsArcher23 · 28/01/2026 21:17

Maybe five?

DragonsAndDaffs · 28/01/2026 21:19

We love cheese, I bought them once to try....too rubbery for us so never bought them again.
