Have you ever wondered how many baby bels you have ever bought?

My DC are currently 14 and 18. Both have been obsessed with baby bels since weaning. The 18 yo saw me cutting one up for the 14yo (just me or do we all do that? And yes I know he's old enough not to need them cutting up but that's another issue, another post) and I asked her.... how many do you think I have bought over the last 18 years. She stared at me and said " well you me and DS eat them so...." and when I told her that I NEVER eat a baby bel she looked at me as though I had two heads.

They are one of the things I get a cold sweat about if I open the fridge and see I have run out.

So how many? Thousands probably. I'd love to know. I should have bought shares. Is it just me? Am I entitled to some free ones by now?

I’m here for the post about how/why you cut them up! My 3 year old loves them.

Please don’t buy any cathedral city product. There are plenty of other more ethical suppliers

Thankyou for the info. I'll avoid them.

This is the most hilariously eccentric post. As you can see by my username - a kindred spirit.
get them onto Camembert - it is my crack cocaine…

It's not hard to cut them up. You just use a knife 🤷

Thank you, they’re such beautiful animals making a sacrifice for us and they deserve the utmost respect not to be abused like that

Sorry had not read the bit about CC - mean just the original post.

I had never bought a babybel until May 2025. Since then I’ve been buying the packs of 36 from Costco. Possibly a bag every 3 weeks?

Clefable · 27/01/2026 20:57

We get through millions of them. DD2 has to be held back from them, she would eat a whole pack in one go if I let her. I need to get that Maxi one for her birthday! Tbh we all eat them, they’re such a handy snack. And yes, they are just cheese!

Costco have 36 packs?!?! I have a card too!

I’ve tried just cutting up cubes of cheese etc but it’s not the same and no one is fooled.

When a toddler my daughter liked them cut up into slices and laid out neatly on a plate to eat one by one.
Many years later (she's 17 now) she loves to have what she calls a "platter" which is essentially various salami and sliced cheese displayed beautifully on a plate.
So she hasn't changed much 😂

Mine too! Her platters are always artfully laid out Grin

so many over the years - DS used to melt them in the microwave and eat them with an espresso spoon.

I am intrigued by this melting thing.....😂
(I can't decide if it sounds nice or disgusting)

My 3yo likes to ask for ‘a lunch platter’ Grin It always cracks me up. It has to include babybels of course.

I chose to boycott N*stle. Due to my ethics and beliefs. I do not tell random strangers on the Internet who they ought to boucott or what ethics they should have.

gototogo · 27/01/2026 21:05

Never bought one, I refused to buy mini cheese type things and just have my DD’s slices of normal cheese, they both preferred strong cheese from young like Camembert

Needmorelego · 27/01/2026 21:05

@Clefable yes platters are sometimes my favourite thing to eat - although I like to think of them as an indoor picnic 😂

But you just have, stealthily

A looong time ago the bags of 12 came with a little baby bel sized dish - pop it out of the wax, into the dish and microwave for 10-20 secs. He was obsessed. We still have 2 of the dishes somewhere…

WednesdayAllTheWay · 27/01/2026 21:06

Awww That's sweet.
In my case, none as I must admit I thought they were ultra processed trash.

boinoo · 27/01/2026 21:07

No but I sometimes wonder how many kilos of mince we've got through for bolognaise and chilli over the years

TheDandyLion · 27/01/2026 21:09

1 packet per year when we go camping.

feelingalittlehorse · 27/01/2026 21:10

Not enough tbf, they are very yummy. Must aspire to buy more.

JamMakingWannaBe · 27/01/2026 21:12

I ate at least 3 a day when I was pregnant. I can't even look at them now.

Zero but the thread title has tickled me. Thanks for making me smile OP., I love a light hearted topic

TonTonMacoute · 27/01/2026 21:20

DS loved them so goodness knows how many I bought, it took years before I stopped finding little pads of red wax all over the floor.

I am definitely pro-cheese but I don't think I ever ate one, I did succumb to the odd late night Cheese String though...
