Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

Calis beach in Turkey we wanted somewhere with good nightlife close by but didn’t want to be in the middle of it. The closest town for nightlife Hisseronue we were told it would be a 20 minute walk max. It wasn’t it was 30 miles away cost minimum of 45 lira each way for a taxi. Would have been a 3 1/2 hour walk. We did go on 2 nights out but that’s all we could afford with the taxi fares. Calis beach itself is lovely lots of chilled bars and restaurants along the prom. It’s more of a couples holiday than 2 friends going for sun and nightlife. The highlight was the chill out cruise sunbathing on a boat stopped off to swim in open water which was lovely. Then tucked into a generous buffet.

Florence, closely followed by Rome! I just couldn’t get excited about the things I was supposed to get excited about!

Dear Lord, Rome is the most amazing place in the world - totally fascinating.
I would also disagree re Florence, Suffolk Madeira and no doubt many more mentioned in this thread.
For example, I would probably find Center Parcs or a huge AI hotel boring, but that's just because they're not my kind of thing, rather being about the actual places.

So the reality is that no place is "boring" as, to an extent it depends on personal taste. Plus, I think it says far more about us if we find somewhere "boring", ie that we lack imagination, an enquiring mind, or curiosity about new places.

How exciting is the rest of your life that Iceland is the most boring place you've ever been 😱

🤣🤣 I think I just built it up in my head. It’s all personal opinion I suppose, someone else has said Florence and I LOVED Florence ☺️

But what about the beautiful lakes? I’ve got brilliant memories of swimming accross one, and standing in another that was transparent. Gorgeous.

I don’t recall seeing those but we were on an organised trip - we didn’t swim at all, I don’t think we were allowed to go off (maybe bc of dingoes!)

Would you mind elaborating? I am a Winter Woman and absolutely hate heat. I would choose Alaska, Canada, NYC in February etc etc. You'd think Iceland would be high on the list... but for some reason (nothing to do with expense) Iceland just doesn't grab me and I don't know why!

Wrong! Iceland is brilliant.
Rent a Land Rover and drive about.
Boiling pools of mud, sulphurous fumes like Hell itself (it’s good the prepare 😃), climb volcanoes, walk over lava fields, beautiful blue glaciers, lounge about in boiling hot springs when it’s -20C outside, watch the geyser that gave all others their name, fantastic stars, and if you’re lucky, the aurora too.
Isn’t that enough? 😳
I was also a solo traveller (although also a bloke: sorry about that). I’ve never been bored anywhere, in close to 50 countries. I always make local friends and get introduced to local life. It’s not hard.

But if by boring you mean annoying then yeah: Egypt, where EVERYONE one meets tries to rip you off, but even that can be funny for a day or two.
Really trying hard to think of where I’ve been bored. Baden Baden by night?

Budapest. Unless you want to get off your tits every night, there’s very little to do.

I loved Budapest. explored all the old town areas, the Jewish quarter (sadly mostly deserted), took a bus out to Memento Park where all the old Soviet Union sculptures have been moved.

Milan. Admittedly it has a spectacular cathedral and a very boujee Trafford Centre, but that’s as much as I could see. People rave about it so there’s obviously a lot that I missed but I couldn’t find it!

The Last Supper alone makes the trip to Milan worthwhile - an amazing artwork, which will sadly disappear completely, if we're not careful.

thornbury · 25/01/2026 14:38

Frankfurt, closely followed by Giant's Causeway.

Soontobesingles · 25/01/2026 14:34

RIGHT?! People are so weird.

Or people just have different tastes in things…it’s almost like we’re not all the same…imagine?!

Alpacajigsaw · 25/01/2026 14:39

Oh I liked Stonehenge. The heavens opened when we were at the stones though, I’ve never been so wet. Thankfully as we were coming back from holiday I had all my clothes in the car so was able to get changed

HellonHeels · 25/01/2026 14:39

On the other hand I disliked Dublin and found it really dull, many (or most?) people seem to enjoy it.

Hephebe · 25/01/2026 14:39

Honestly I think some of this thread must be ragebait! It's quite hard to find absolutely nothing to interest you in an entire city the size of Liverpool, Berlin or Rome. I get that you might not love its aesthetic or weather but surely people can see past that?!

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 25/01/2026 14:40

Brussels
Cadbury World

Chemenger · 25/01/2026 14:40

Every single Maritime Museum. All excruciatingly boring and I love every other type of museum and art galleries. Boring models of boring ships.

helenjerome · 25/01/2026 14:41

The Eden Project. Not worth the money!

Valencia has that terrific aquarium 🐟🐙🦑🐳

Also Valencia has amazing paella.
Love Valencia.

GameOfJones · 25/01/2026 14:42

I totally agree about Norfolk. People seem to rave about it but there are so many more scenic parts of the UK.....I just didn't get the appeal at all.

My vote would go to Riga.....one of the most depressing cities I've ever visited.

Miranda65 · 25/01/2026 14:42

Householdofcoughers · 25/01/2026 14:17

Germany…just awful

The whole of Germany?! Because it's all the same isn't it? 🤣 Forget the fascinating history, beautiful lakes and mountains, impressive museums and castles, sports, music and no doubt much more. How can a whole country possibly be "boring"?

Funnywonder · 25/01/2026 14:43

Soontobesingles · 25/01/2026 14:34

I think a lot depends on how you visit a place. I cannot fathom finding Rome (!) or LA boring! But I guess I have also always travelled in those places with people who live there and can take me to the exciting bits. But some people are just boring and it shows - an ex friend of mine said she thought New York was 'nothing special...a shit version of London' = and to me it just summed up everything about her narrow world view. New York! Literally one of the most vibrant places on earth with so much history and so much to do and you were bored there? That's a YOU problem.

That’s unfair I think, to call people boring for not liking something. Sometimes people have overinflated expectations or they aren’t feeling in the best form or they simply like different things. I can imagine some people feeling overwhelmed in a big city. Do you think that everyone should like New York just because you do?

Alpacajigsaw · 25/01/2026 14:43

Oh also Verona

loved the amphitheatre

Juliets balcony was just full of teenage boys getting their photo taken grabbing Juliet’s tits

A day there was well long enough. When people say they’re going for a city break I think for the love of god don’t

BeFairOliveBear · 25/01/2026 14:43

I think the weather can have a huge impact. Nothing looks it's best on a rainy grey day.

EarthSight · 25/01/2026 14:43

TigerRag · 25/01/2026 13:34

Newport, Wales

Oh dear. That's not a nice place.

CookingFatCat · 25/01/2026 14:44

Brussels. You can do it in a day, after that nothing to do and nothing to see.

ToWhitToWhoo · 25/01/2026 14:44

Bicester Village.
