Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

The interminable antique shops my parents used to drag us round as children. I'm now older than they were then and still have zero interest in antiques.

Hey we could reduce every1’s carbon footprint if this was published ☺️

Edmonton, Alberta
Tilbury, Essex

Bet it’s not as bad as Edmonton North London!

@NuffSaidSam
i am genuinely curious what makes you think Iceland is exciting?

Scenery, volcanic landscape etc. I guess it depends upon your interests

Stonehenge

This. So much.
Expectation: awe and mystery. Echoes of ancient civilisation.
Reality: parting with lots of cash for a short walk from a large parking lot to stare at a pile of non descript stones from some distance away in light drizzle and freezing wind along with many other tourists in pac a macs. The end.

Hervey Bay in Australia is our running joke as the most boring destination (and a particularly awful night in a youth hostel). We went there to visit Fraser Island, which was worth visiting, but the town of Hervey Bay was dire.

I think I may have stayed in the same youth hostel 😂

PauliesWalnuts · 25/01/2026 14:31

Another vote for Canberra. The national portrait gallery had pictures of the Murdochs. The visit was only livened up by trying to avoid those vicious magpies whilst on a bike ride.

Valencia was dull, dull, dull. Also a week in rural Austria nearly tipped me into depression and made me realise I am not into scenery as the focal point of a holiday.

Aw, I love Valencia, but it is quite beachy so I can imagine if you were after a pure city break with lots of landmarks amd places of interest it might disappoint.

Madeira.
February visit - "It is sunny and warm all year round ."
No it really isn't.
On the other hand Valencia is ace!

Valencia has that terrific aquarium 🐟🐙🦑🐳

MisiSam · 25/01/2026 14:31

I visited a chocolate factory in Spain once. It was nothing like I imagined it would be 🤣 it was so boring, the only bit that saved it was at the end you could just help yourself to as much chocolate as you could eat.

Norfolk 🫣

I agree! I’m sure there are more interesting places than where my MIL lives but it’s extremely dull and I can’t wait to leave when we go there.

Householdofcoughers · 25/01/2026 14:17

Germany…just awful

That’s a fairly big generalisation, it’s massive 🤣

CharlotteByrde · 25/01/2026 14:31

People could save themselves from all this boredom with a bit of forward planning and googling. Go where your interests lie.

Beachtastic · 25/01/2026 14:32

doggostepping · 25/01/2026 13:49

Madeira. So so boring. Over 20 years ago but jeez nothing there. Awful food. Went out of season so it was uk weather too.

Yes, but the top of the mountains above cloud are absolutely stunning - well worth the hike!

Loughborough, I once had an afternoon to kill there.

Funnywonder · 25/01/2026 14:32

I live in NI and remember being massively underwhelmed the first time I saw the Giant’s Causeway. It was just so … small🤣 But I have been back numerous times over the years, often accompanying various relatives visiting from overseas and I have grown to love it. Especially on dull, dreary days when there’s hardly anyone around. It has become one of my favourite places.

Pantalone · 25/01/2026 14:33

Can’t believe someone has said Iceland!

(Perhaps it’s Donald Trump and they meant Greenland 😂)

SevenYellowHammers · 25/01/2026 14:34

Stonehenge

aintnothinbutagstring · 25/01/2026 14:34

Probably the New Forest. Ironically as we have often stayed near there but visit more around neighbouring Dorset.

Norwich though the cathedral is lovely...

Someone mentioned Rotterdam, I love Rotterdam because - food, so many options and great base to explore other parts of NL.

Soontobesingles · 25/01/2026 14:34

I think a lot depends on how you visit a place. I cannot fathom finding Rome (!) or LA boring! But I guess I have also always travelled in those places with people who live there and can take me to the exciting bits. But some people are just boring and it shows - an ex friend of mine said she thought New York was 'nothing special...a shit version of London' = and to me it just summed up everything about her narrow world view. New York! Literally one of the most vibrant places on earth with so much history and so much to do and you were bored there? That's a YOU problem.

Edited

RIGHT?! People are so weird.

BeachLifeoOhLaLa · 25/01/2026 14:35

Oh I also forgot LA - I stayed downtown on the edge of Skid row and it was awful. Also the contrast of the riches and all the homeless - I couldn’t understand why someone with choice would choose to live there, not my kind of place. Also visited with work so I didn’t choose to go there but can still form an opinion (in answer to those saying that everyone should research before travelling - I don’t choose my destinations!)

CustardySergeant · 25/01/2026 14:35

Statsquestion2 · 25/01/2026 13:40

Iceland…very underwhelming unfortunately

Same here. It was so bleak, barren and depressing.

Olderbutt · 25/01/2026 14:36

For me, I have to put Skegness is first place. I can see why some people would like it though. Ive never played so much crazy golf ⛳️ in my life, just to while away the time. The amount of 'muscle' dogs being walked and streets covered in take away grease! Just yuck!
2nd place has to be Holyhead in Anglesey. So deprived and grey but at least you're not far away from nicer places!
