Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

i feel sad at all the places that I will never see.

I still want to see
a lot of Switzerland
Forest parts of Germany
More smaller towns in France
Iceland
Slovenia
Slovakia
Finland

With my annual leave, I only really get to do short trips. Isn't it sad all the places that we never see

Hervey Bay in Australia is our running joke as the most boring destination (and a particularly awful night in a youth hostel). We went there to visit Fraser Island, which was worth visiting, but the town of Hervey Bay was dire.

I hated Fraser Island. 2 hour bumpy coach ride (literally up and down hillocks the whole way) to look at a (bad) shipwreck on a mediocre beach and then eat terrible food in the one cafe there. Then have the awful ride back to look forward to.

I love Berlin, I am amazed it is on this list.
I was in Inverness for a couple of days in November. I went to Tesco, ate a scotch pie and then ended up in a Wetherspoons, YAWN

Milton Keynes. The centre felt depressingly sterile with no real local identity.

I thought the same about Liverpool! That's just all English cities now.

What did you like about Berlin? I remember thinking that it was very grey and depressing.

Mull.

Why? Mull is absolutely gorgeous! Tobermory, Calgary Bay, Dervaig with sheep wandering down the street, the views, the trip to Iona. Beautiful place.

JoannaTheYodelingCowgirl · 25/01/2026 14:23

Crewe, Cheshire.
What a fucking dive

ThatAquaRobin · 25/01/2026 14:23

I liked Berlin.
Tempelhof airport
The TV tower
Olympic stadium

Paramaribo2025 · 25/01/2026 14:23

Also, Jeju Island

is that off South Korea?

Ithinkofawittyusernamethenforgetit · 25/01/2026 14:24

Thetford

SchoolDilemma17 · 25/01/2026 14:24

Munich
cornwall

Loved Liverpool, definitely didn’t think it was boring.

boombangabong · 25/01/2026 14:24

This thread is fascinating as there are so many places listed on here that I cannot fathom prior finding boring!
Rome - there is literally something ancient and beautiful around every corner, be if huge like the colluseum or a tiny piece of ancient wall on a random street. Not to mention the wonderful food
Berlin - it’s a very grey place and there’s lots of building work going on, but it felt like it was fizzing with history. East Berlin with the tower, the stazi museum etc. And such cool bars.
Valencia is gorgeous. It’s much lower key than Madrid, Barcelona etc. But it’s a fab place to wander around, beautiful buildings, amazing food. The new city of artes and sciences is a futuristic masterpiece. And I’d has a beautiful beach. And amazing food. Loved it!

Lanzarote - stunning volcanic island covered in vineyards. it’s a lovely place to explore if you hire a car and head away from the resorts.

For me, the most disappointing and boring place
I’ve visited was Canberra. The parliament building is impressive but that’s it. Unfortunately we also stayed with super boring people (friends of friends) so that compounded the absolute dullness. We’ve ticked it off the list and never need to go back.

Actually Panama City was very disappointing and full, too. The canal and locks are spectacular, but the city itself really has nothing going for it.

Same and Frankfurt too, yuk

Samanthajane5 · 25/01/2026 14:24

Liverpool imo is def one of the most boring cities in the UK

SchoolDilemma17 · 25/01/2026 14:25

Oh and definitely Stoke on Trent, nothing to do apart from Wedgwood. Bad food everywhere too.

Blisterinthe · 25/01/2026 14:25

Olderbutt · 25/01/2026 14:18

That was my thought too!

@NuffSaidSam
i am genuinely curious what makes you think Iceland is exciting?

AlexandraPeppernose · 25/01/2026 14:26

Sutton Hoo was the most underwhelming place ever. I was expecting more than a field

clinellwipe · 25/01/2026 14:26

Stockholm , but I was with a very boring (ex) boyfriend so perhaps that was why

But what about the beautiful lakes? I’ve got brilliant memories of swimming accross one, and standing in another that was transparent. Gorgeous.

IsawwhatIsaw · 25/01/2026 14:26

Haverhill
peacehaven
Clacton

the stuff of nightmares

leporello · 25/01/2026 14:26

I can entertain myself virtually anywhere but Ilkeston presented a challenge.

I love it too. The building is fabulous just on it's own. I like to imagine it empty when I'm there, I think it would be quite eerie.

I work in events and was there after hours due to work with time for a little wander round alone - absolutely amazing and truly eerie!

For dull places for me it would be:
Hull - is dull
Coventry - grey grey and more grey
Dubai - so fake, admittedly I didn’t get out of the city itself as was also visiting for work so perhaps there’s more outside of the city to enjoy
Gelsenkirchen in Germany - nothing there at all
Milan - the cathedral is beautiful but I also couldn’t find the reason why so many people rave about it
Venice - it is beautiful but there are way too many tourists, city is too full and everything is geared for tourists and too expensive (understandably so but still crappy for me…)
Leaning tower of Pisa - same as above..

I have however loved Iceland and Berlin and Rome and Budapest and Brussels and also Montenegro and North Macedonia so horses for courses 🤷‍♀️

lilybit2025 · 25/01/2026 14:03

Munich. Everything is grey and painfully colourless.

I have been there far too often (relatives live there) and never ever want to spend money to fo there again. The best thing is probably the Zoo.

Sightseeing place: Stonehenge. HUGELY overrated

Holiday type place: Prestatyn. North Wales. Boring as fuck. Nothing to do.

I agree that Stonehenge is really overatted. When I was an child you could pull up at the side of the A303 and walk over to the stones. Much better. Callanish standing stones on the Isle of Lewis are far more interesting.
I agree with Prestatyn too! Dreadful place but not as bad as Skegness. At least in Prestatyn you can drive to nicer towns and lovely scenery quickly!
