Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

Yes. The agents probably have a clause in their contracts: "Must not encounter an actual inhabitant of Blackpool."

😂😂😂

That’s where I stayed the first time and the second was out at S H Farmhouse. Just wasn’t for me but appreciate it’s probably a dream place for lots.

The Cotswolds is as dull as dishwater. Absolutely nothing to see or do. I really do not get what you are supposed to do while you are there apart from go to the pub or an expensive meal. Sooooooo booorrring.

Luxembourg. Blink and you would have missed it

I ended up in Luxembourg for work and stayed on for the weekend, I really liked it, incredibly leafy, good food, nice galleries. I mean I wouldn't go on holiday for a week, but had a lovely weekend.

Lanzarote

An island built just for people who want to stay in their resorts all day by the pool and eating school dinners

Our resort was surrounded by what can only be called 'wasteland'

Nowhere to go, nothing to do. We hired a car and travelled the whole island on day 2 and I sat DH down and said shall we just book a flight and go home.

We like to explore and stay busy. Even our 2 year old hated it. Longest week ever

You didn't like Timanfaya NP? Did you go to Omar Shariff's old place, Museo Lagomar? It's like a James Bond lair! We loved it but might not have the same appeal for young kids. All the Cesar Manrique stuff is pretty cool though IMO I love his Cactus garden.

I've just remembered that long ago when I was around 15, my DM and I went on a coach day trip to France. Ferry from Dover to Boulogne, they drove the coach off the ferry and into a car park by the fishing fleet docks. The whole place was utterly grim and filthy, and stank of fish. There was absolutely nothing to do other than wander round a hypermarket the size of a small country which contained mountains of smelly cheese, ten million bottles of cheap wine and very little else.

Parents! Not his partners! That would make it more fun!

🤣 I read that at least three times trying to work it out!

What on earth do they find to do for six weeks? We struggled for an hour!

They sit by a beach hut looking at the various shades of mud, grey, dark mud, dark grey Sea.They remark on the winds and the tide. They go to the harbour to eat fish and chips. They walk along the pier to see their plaque. And for a special treat they drive to Walbersick or whatever it’s called. And repeat. For six weeks.
we once suggested a day trip to Aldeburgh for a change when we went to stay with them there for a few days and we were met with horrified looks!
They are Healthy and relatively wealthy. They could go anywhere. It drives me up the wall.

Cornwall. Closely followed by Devon.

Really?! That’s very surprising.

Pelsall116 · 26/01/2026 17:51

Weston Super Mare. Never again

fatimashortbread · 26/01/2026 17:52

Jerez de la Frontera - had to resort to following office workers to find somewhere for lunch 😀

Stonehenge 😕

Fuertaventura

HorsesAreRunningOn3LegsTonight · 26/01/2026 17:55

Fuertaventura- went for a week’s r&r , we had a lovely hotel…….but the actual island is just a lump of rock in the middle of sea. Very few trees , just grey hills. And a few
” resorts” dotted around the edge.
Was so happy to get home.

GeorgeOhWell · 26/01/2026 17:55

John O Groats. We drove several hours to get there only to find it was a dump. The A9 up the east coast of Scotland is very scenic but did

Harlow is very boring and very grey!
I was born in Harlow, moved away a good few years ago now, I do visit family occasionally but generally can't wait to leave again 😂

I agree, it’s like a depressing, grey new town with no personality 🤣

Judecb · 26/01/2026 17:58

Sutton Hoo in Suffolk.

Mummadeze · 26/01/2026 18:00

I found Pompeii really boring. And Mayan ruins. I don’t have the visualisation to see the rubble as anything other than rubble unfortunately. I also got bored by all the temples in Bangkok after seeing too many.

Royal Opera House. Can’t remember what opera it was but it was so boring I thought I was going to have some kind of seizure. Then I made the mistake of trying to raise my cultural level by going to a ballet. Had I had a firearm, I would have ended it right there. That was pretty much it for me and culture, I’m afraid.

Julia001 · 26/01/2026 18:05

Welwyn Roman Baths !

Carnac in France, drove about an hour to get there and it’s literally just a field full of fairly small stones!

Gosh, we holidayed for 2 weeks in Carnac, what a shame you only saw a field of the smaller stones, the megaliths and monoliths are pretty impressive and it goes on for miles. Then there’s the town itself with lovely bars and restaurants, the gorgeous beaches and loads of places to visit in the area…

InSearchOfMartin · 26/01/2026 18:07

Probably a Bob Dylan concert as I fell asleep.
