A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙 🩵

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Thanks. They could possibly block him somehow but that would look really bad for Starmer. Scared he’d be ousted.

Not sure Starmer cares about looking bad!

This is properly 🍿 worthy for us though. 😁

I see that the BBC is reporting (aka giving in to Labour spinners) a big fall in December borrowing. Considering Reeves has taxed the hide off businesses and dragged more people into the tax net it’s hardly surprising.

If you look carefully you can also find the news that December’s welfare payments went up by nearly £3bn.

The next unemployment figures might be interesting.

redange · 22/01/2026 19:29

Thank, you for that Find out Now Poll: just got back in after busy day today from DD's 2 options night for year 10. Option Choices have to be in by the 15th of February .

Regarding, Andy Burnham and a By-Election in Denton & Gorton : Gorton is perhaps one of the poorest places in the UK and with the exception of 'Gorton Monastery' does not have a lot going for it. Denton on the other hand should really be in with Ashton Under -Lyne and Angela Raynor's seat because it is more socially and culturally related as Tameside is !

Andy Burnham will quite likely get elected there due to a large presence of stated 'Green Voters' if however we have a Gaza Independent standing or Islamic candidate for the Green Party could be a interesting watch.

Is that welfare bill up £3 billion already, - before the 2 child cap is lifted?

Yes I saw this. I don't think the govt will want to shout too loudly about the extra billions on welfare.
I also noticed that the cost of borrowing has increased again, interest £200 million higher than last year iirc.

Yes before. All fully costed though isn’t it?

Good luck to your dd choosing her options.

Interesting to read your take on the constituency. I think Reform will do well, particularly in Denton. Agree with your take on the other side of the constituency.

I also see that Zelensky has laid into European states for their pathetic hand wringing and self-interest over Ukraine. Starmer’s ‘coalition of the willing’ is a bad joke.

Your post just reminded me when Labour on here actually believed the ‘planes in the air, boots on the ground’ shite from Starmer. Wtf

What a load of scaremongering rubbish. Some bought in to and spread. Labour really are the pits. I look forward to Burnham going for it. Just for the unease.

Would be interesting if all the other candidates stood down to give a free run for Burnham to send a clear message to Starmer 😂

I’d actually love it if he did that. Would highlight the insanity of gender woo brilliantly.

Me too.

I had high hopes that Trump would identify as a woman; first female president, first lesbian president married to an immigrant! That would have been bigly good 😄

Scathing but correct summing up of Reeves on Times Radio this morning from hospitality org. Also stuff about her lying in full clip.

“She does not understand business at all.”

Chancellor Rachel Reeves’s business rates U-turn is “frankly shocking” as it puts the hospitality sector “in limbo”, says Manchester's first night time economy adviser Sacha Lord.

It applies to Starmer too of course.

justasking111 · 23/01/2026 11:09

Our local paper is reporting businesses going bump from mom pop establishments in the hospitality sector to companies employing 200 to 300 people in the tech sector. Double glazing firm, removals, furniture manufacturers. That's just off the top of my head. It's relentlessly gathering pace now.

Same here. A well loved local restaurant will close its doors next month, and that’s the third one I have heard of, along with at least two other local businesses that employed a good number of people. Pubs are changing hands rapidly as the tenants realise they can’t make it work and new people get sucked in only to leave months later.
There will be more to come I am sure 😞

Thanks for those @boys3the common thread seems to be Labour doing woefully.

The Telegraph is reporting pub landlords will cancel their sports channel subscriptions as a direct result of the increase in their business rates. Apparently, Sky Sports et al set their prices based on a pub's rateable value.

I'd rather sit and look at a brick wall than watch football, but I appreciate many enjoy watching games with their mates in a pub. No TV combined with the increased cost of drinks might well mean a drop on trade, and so it goes on.

At this point I can't work out if Reeves is completely stupid and lacking in foresight or whether this is part of Labour's plan to destroy the British way of life as we know it.
