What temperature do you leave your heating on at night? When it's below zero celcius outside?

Just wondered, after a little debate beween me and a few other people yesterday.

Would you be so kind as to pick an option? (I will put what I leave it at a bit later.) Thank you. Smile

Heating isn't on at night I just have a fleece blanket in addition to my duvet keeps me really warm.

Manally turn heating on when I get up.

Borka · 04/01/2026 11:13

We never leave it on at night

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 04/01/2026 11:13

Thermostat is set to 16 overnight.

Minty25 · 04/01/2026 11:14

We don't have it on at night ! We have big duvets and a hot water bottle !

helpfulperson · 04/01/2026 11:15

Frost setting is normally 7 degrees. I leave mine at 16 degrees or the cost of heating my fish tanks goes through the roof.

Sirzy · 04/01/2026 11:16

If the internal temp drops below 15 it comes on.

Throughahedgebackwards · 04/01/2026 11:16

Heating not on at night. Thermostat usually set to about 16 when it comes on in the morning.

clarrylove · 04/01/2026 11:16

Not routinely on overnight but Frost Setting is 14.

Feteaccompli · 04/01/2026 11:17

We have our thermostat set to 9 overnight. Was -5 outside when I got up this morning so even heating up from 9 to 17 has taken a while

KylieKangaroo · 04/01/2026 11:17

I don't have it on at night as the click on the thermostat wakes me up!

Cyclingforcake · 04/01/2026 11:17

16 Or it takes too long to get up to a reasonable temperature in the morning. Our house feels chilly below 18 and not properly warm until 20. (North facing)

CalmShaker · 04/01/2026 11:17

I use to turn it off up until a couple of years ago (overnight) as the pipes in my downstairs bathroom froze. I have a new boiler now so can use it remotely but usually set it around 13

reluctantbrit · 04/01/2026 11:17

Thermostat is set that it goes on when the temperature drops under 15 degrees. Frost setting is 5 degrees so it's protected if we are away and turn the heating off until a day before we come back.

DameOfThrones · 04/01/2026 11:18

We have ours off at night but there's no option in the voting.

I went for 10 or under.

arlequin · 04/01/2026 11:18

I just leave ours on permanently at 18

THATnewyearnewmebullshit · 04/01/2026 11:18

18

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 04/01/2026 11:19

19 degrees. It rarely comes on and if it does, then usually only by about 6.30am which warms the house up in the morning. Late afternoon we put it up to 21.

whataboutnow · 04/01/2026 11:19

Never have it on at night Always have the window open too!

VikaOlson · 04/01/2026 11:19

17 at night, I usually up to to 19 in the day and 20 in the evening.

HelpMeGetThrough · 04/01/2026 11:19

20-21. I need to have the house warm all the time.

Lindy2 · 04/01/2026 11:20

I usually turn it off at night but last night I woke up in the early hours and was cold - despite warm pyjamas etc. The house was 12.5 degrees C. I put the heating on at 15 degrees for the rest of the night which was comfortable.

It's still at 15 now but we have bright sunshine on half of the house now and it's actually getting very hot.

dementedpixie · 04/01/2026 11:20

I chose 10⁰C or under as my heating is off overnight. Im sure there's some frost protection thing that would kick in if the indoor temperature went super low

Waitingfordoggo · 04/01/2026 11:20

We have the heating off at night and the window open (unless there is a gale or rain coming in the window). I would be uncomfortable with the heating on and would struggle to sleep.

Anawi · 04/01/2026 11:20

We have our thermostat set to 15 overnight. It's in the hall upstairs where it usually stays fairly cool as there is no radiator. It is nearly always the right setting for the heating to kick in sometime around 6am to warm the house slightly for when we get up. We don't like it if the heating comes on during the night, hate yrying to sleep when it's too hot!

GoodVibesHere · 04/01/2026 11:21

I don't have ours on overnight so I voted under 10
