Just for fun!
One thing that I feel just makes me superior than most is that I am a twin mum. Can’t really explain it except that I feel like superwoman for growing 2 babies myself at once

one thing that will make me think you are cooler than most of if you’re left handed, no idea why, I just know I always wanted to be left handed when I was a kid😂

I speak 3 languages besides English, two proficiently and my Spanish is reasonable. I’ve got no common sense though 😂

No, I can't . That's what no mind's eye/unable to make mental images /aphantasia means .

It's an interesting observation of mine that many dyslexic learners have no mind's eye. I work investigating dyslexia & presenting for diagnosis in secondary school age pupils (I teach & it's my remit in my school). Over the years it's significant how many cannot imagine a word in their mind's eye at all. Some can, but when then asked to change the colour of the word they say it blows their mind & just isn't possible. It's very interesting.

@billiongulls me too ☺️

mallow · 31/12/2025 22:33

My birthday is on a public holiday. It makes me feel superior to everyone who isn’t on holiday on their birthday.

tensmum1964 · 31/12/2025 23:44

Im in my 60's but young people think I'm cool and enjoy spending time with me. I have no idea why but quite happy that I'm perceived that way.

IsThistheMiddleofNowhere · 01/01/2026 00:40

I'm in my 60s, have always loved cool music and kept up to date with new sounds. My favourite at the moment is the 'Sister' Album by Frost Children

When I sit on the floor with my legs outstretched, I can easily put the soles of my feet flat on the floor.

I'm confused - can some people not do this?

I am a blood donor and have O- blood type, I am also CMV negative (CMV is a common virus that a lot have people have been exposed to) so my blood can be given to neonatal babies. I often get a text a few days after donating that tells me where my blood has been used.

@AisleAltarHymn me two to all! High five! 🙌

Oh I can't do that either!

I'm very insightful of myself, not many people are.

Oh and if I pinch my nose and close my mouth I can blow air out of my eyeball. It makes a sound.

The left one. If I can just figure out how to pull air IN then nobody would be able to suffocate me.

Me too. And it’s my left eye too. If my eye is watering, I can blow bubbles.

lifeonmars100 Yes, it is a great thing to have but not always 😞 My sister also has it practically the same types as me and she says it's like living in 3D.

But - if I am tired or upset or just not very well, it can overwhelm me pretty quickly, it can be difficult to relax and read for instance as some (not all) words have colours, some of which I don't like, also when there is music playing that I am not keen on, my colours also are not nice and I can't switch it off. I would be interested to hear from the other synesthetes on here if they experience the same thing?

I remember hearing O Superman by Lori (can't remember her surname) and the huff huff robotic voice gave me such an awful dangerous colour in my mind that it really scared me. I have ways of calming myself down when this happens - running my hands under cold water for example can kind of 'reset' me.

BTW Happy New Year from a -4 degree French morning x

@Frenchlady14

It gives my husband awful headaches. He's a fantastic musician and used to play in a band but he can't stand to see live music himself, which always seemed so sad to me.

He explained that when he is creating the music then he is in charge of the lights and colours. But when it's someone else making the music then the lights and colours are flying everywhere and it's too overwhelming for him.

MusicMakesItAllBetter · 01/01/2026 11:04

I've been a lead singer of a band 🤩

I always know what time it is, without checking a watch or clock. I always estimate it within 10 mins. It's weird

Me too - I’ll often guess then check and be pretty close! Still doesn’t stop me being late though 🙈🥴

If music is loud then I can't see because the colours overtake everything else.
Some music and some voices are painful, they make my brain feel like walking on gravel in bare feet. Adele is one, and bagpipes.

@ZippyGeorgeandBungle2 are you constantly asked to donate blood?

I do anyway but only since I found out I was a universal donor. Happy to give it away.

No, I think she means the whole foot not just the heel. I didn't realise this was difficult for some people until I read this thread. I'm in my 60s and can now only do this when I'm lying flat not sitting. I've put the loss of ability down to old age not that it was inherently anything special.

Besttobe8001 · 01/01/2026 18:02

I'm a DJ, I can pack a dancefloor and I really love it. Also enjoy being a woman in that male dominated area.

OK, now I'm going to need a diagram. Normally, the feet make a 90 degree angle with the legs, right? So sitting on the floor with the legs straightened, the legs are parallel to and in contact with the floor. The feet, at right angles, would point straight up. So you are saying your feet can form a straight line with your legs (like a ballet dancer's en pointe), soles in contact with the floor? And you thought this was not difficult for people?

ArwenUndomniel · 01/01/2026 18:33

I'm confused about the soles of the feet thing too. I can extend my feet sitting down, but the soles don't touch the floor because I have arches. Does that poster just have totally flat feet?
