Just for fun!
One thing that I feel just makes me superior than most is that I am a twin mum. Can’t really explain it except that I feel like superwoman for growing 2 babies myself at once

one thing that will make me think you are cooler than most of if you’re left handed, no idea why, I just know I always wanted to be left handed when I was a kid😂

A PP stated they can smell death - I can smell and almost taste illness, and I am always right, animal or human. I have been so right so often, I don't think it's a coincidence.

I have managed to push for cancer screening in cases where there was nothing observably wrong, and even when the individual thought they were absolutely fine and strongly believed I was creating a fuss for nothing (one person really fell out with me). One very early stomach cancer was detected, and one very early breast cancer, as well as a plethora of other illnesses over the years.

I know when my animals are unwell or in pain (when not observable, obvs) I can smell the changes in their skin/fur and breath.

I can sometimes, by the bitter, sour or sweet smell, say where the issue lies or the seriousness of the issue, but not always. It's more of an overall 'there is something wrong' to a graded 'there is something seriously wrong' scent profile.

For years, I honestly thought that maybe I was just a bit nuts or kidding myself and then felt almost vindicated when I saw an article on a lady who could smell Alzheimer's pre-diagnosis and when people were asysmtomatic.

WOW! Now that's a REAL super power. 😲

haveaword · 30/12/2025 19:53

I’ve achieved stuff despite some shitty stuff happening/start I has and I am quietly cool about my stuff

This is a wonderful thread

Yep. It's like Mumsnet is like the X Academy for really cool women.😎💃💃💃

Thanks @Chicky6.😊

I wouldn't say this is cooler but I definitely have something different to the vast majority . I have Aphantasia which means i cannot make mental images in my mind.
I was absolutely gobsmacked when I found out nearly everyone can do this!!

I'm having trouble trying to "picture" how this affects your life??

ThePoshUns · 30/12/2025 20:15

Small children and dogs always make a bee line to me

sweatervest · 30/12/2025 20:17

i am the world's worst judge of character although i like to think i am shit hot at character judging

i can fit ten fruitellas in my mouth at the same time. ultra brag: any flavour

i am a reasonably good stalker. (only internet stalking. i'm too cold to do out in the actual world stalking)

FletchFan · 30/12/2025 20:18

I took flying lessons and got a pilot's licence at 35.

Apparently I'm the coolest mum ever.

Curlygirl06 · 30/12/2025 20:22

I'm a mum of twins plus an older singleton.
I slammed my right hand in a car door when I was 10 and had to use my left hand for everything. I can write and do numbers left handed and I do the crossword and soduku daily left handed to keep it up. I'm in my 60's.
I can remember faces, details that you've told me about your life, names of your dogs but never your actual name! People tell me all sorts all the time.
I remember phone numbers, bank account numbers, not necessarily mine! (used to work in a bank) .
I can do simple mental arithmetic so fast I have to stop and go back to check I've done it right.
I got 39 on Popmaster once, does that count? Lol.
However, I have no sense of direction and could get lost in a cupboard so........

Ladygodalmighty · 30/12/2025 20:43

This post has been ab fab. Mumsnetters are the most interesting and entertaining people and some are truly gifted and special 🤩

Puffalicious · 30/12/2025 20:48

My 19 yo DC's friends think I'm the GOAT. Unfortunately, the 19 yo DC doesn't at all! (Typical teen!) 😆

Completenamechangeforthis · 30/12/2025 21:04

I'm one of the only 10% female Close Protection Officers in the country

Farticus101 · 30/12/2025 21:13

I remembered another one. I very frequently appear in other people's dreams. I get told that a lot by people. Unfortunately, some times they don't really elaborate what I was doing in the dream, some look a bit uncomfortable when I ask.

I apologise if my dream self was misbehaving- I have no control over her.

Curlygirl06 · 30/12/2025 21:24

Ooh another one! I can (or could) strip down and reassemble an AK47 rifle.

In my case a FN SLR

JohnofWessex · 30/12/2025 22:01

This is my oldest son's.............

His maternal Grandfather was talking about going down to the seafront near his home - he lived outside Chatham as a 4 year old and seeing the D-Day Invasion Fleet assemble - I think it must have been Follow Up Force L

My Dad who was by then very frail suddenly piped up 'I was on one of those ships!' - he was a 27 year old Army Lorry Driver in those days.

So his Grandfathers met at D-Day which is pretty cool for a 24 year old

I remember getting strange looks the first time I said out loud "oh it's a red name like David or Gerry".

I forgot the name of someone who had phoned the office and nearly said "it's a green and red name" (meaning green first name and red surname). But no one could have helped me - I was on my own 😆

I'm having trouble trying to "picture" how this affects your life??

It doesn't really as I didn't find out till 60ish . Having a mind's eye would freak me out.

Also, two other things are connected to it. Apparently, many see pictures when they read, I just see the words. I can't replay music and songs in my head.

However, none of these really bother me, I've been ok without them!!

Thedarkersideofme · 31/12/2025 08:55

I apologise mine aren't light-hearted, but here goes:

I narrowly avoided being raped twice.
I was once arrested for a very, very minor - frivolous - crime; never told anyone since.
Whenever I have cystitis coming on, I can stop it from becoming a full-on attack.

Frenchlady14 · 31/12/2025 10:26

Sorry in advance if this is a bit long ...
I have multi-level synesthesia - I didn't know when I was growing up that I was any different to anyone else! It can be a bit overwhelming at times, especially if I am tired or ill, but I wouldn't change it for the world.

I see days of the week as colours, have some strong aversions to any combination of the numbers 3, 6 and 9 - just typing them makes me feel weird and they are pulsing bright red - I can't put my stuff in the lockers at the gym with any of those numbers on - the number 14 is light blue and sparkly and if I come across it reading it makes me happy.

I also have calender space synesthesia, December started out fat and is now very thin a bit like a tail and next December is behind the horizon in my mind - June is a circle in the middle and other months close to it are kind of in orbit.
I can know the time within a minute and take something out of the oven a split second before my Alexa alarm.

My favourite form is music/colour - if I listen to gloomy or minor key music - I get a lovely swirl of olive green and mauve which are my favourite colours. I can get completely in a trance with Kashmir by LZ for example - I can feel just enveloped in the colours and if I get an earworm - it always is coloured in my mind too.

If I jump from a loud noise, I get a metallic grey taste in my mouth.

Not sure if this makes me cool :/ but it gives me a good memory as everything has so much attached to it.

Would have loved to have grown twin babies !!!!

I can pop my ears at will - my Eustachian tubes are under voluntary control (they're smooth muscle, so not supposed to be). It means I never get earache on planes. It also came in handy when scuba diving where popping ears to equalise pressure is important - the scuba instructor was rather baffled and said I was the only person he'd ever met who could do it. DC1 is also able to to this.

Me too . I forgot that I can do this

Lampzade · 31/12/2025 10:56

I always wanted twins but they never came .
Hoping at least one of my dcs have twins

Beachtastic · 31/12/2025 11:04

Just as an aside, I'm really curious with synesthesia: if you've ever met someone who shares it, do you both experience things the same way? I'd love to know whether a number really IS green/red, or if it's just a very personal association!

Years ago I did a bit of experimentation with psychedelic drugs, and it's surprising how often the "inner" experience was shared.

A PP mentioned hearing songs that don't exist. This is an oddity about coming down from this sort of drug, say after a festival where your auditory senses have been stimulated all weekend: when sitting in silence somewhere back home, you can hear all kinds of music so clearly that you sometimes have to remind yourself you're not listening to the radio. I mean with voices, full backing of a band or orchestra, high production values, the whole shebang.

I've often wished I could annotate music, just so that I could capture it. (No doubt this is how some musicians create!)

Just sharing this as a side note in case it's of any interest, as brain chemistry must play a part.

CharlotteCChapel · 31/12/2025 11:05

I had a painless labour with no meds. I'm dyspraxic but I can undo knots.

Youououou · 31/12/2025 11:08

I can set my internal alarm to wake myself up. If I need to be up at 6 I remind myself that I need to be up at 6 and wake up within 5 minutes either side. If I've set an actual alarm then I will wake up 5 minutes before the alarm is due to go off.

Frenchlady14 · 31/12/2025 11:12

'Beachtastic' Yes! I'm sure my mum had it - she would say random things like 'I don't know why they are called Black Sabbath when their songs are mostly orange' and I knew exactly what she meant.

Her calendar one was better than mine though - say, if you were making a dentist appointment for three months time on the 18th, she would blink and say 'no we can't do that it's a Thursday and we see nan on Thursdays' and she would always be right.

The psychedelic drugs one is true and some people do experience it when taking them - but AFAIK it doesn't last after the drug has worn off.

I would be too scared to try anything like that - I've got enough going on!! 😂
