Over inappropriate behaviour towards women. Anyone surprised?

Not really. There have been rumours for years.

Simonjt · 19/12/2025 17:03

Ah, lovely news, the fact anyone bought his racist offerings always surprised me.

ResusciAnnie · 19/12/2025 17:04

Very unsurprising. Odious man.

BellissimoGecko · 19/12/2025 17:04

Well, colour me amazed.

Good for HarperCollins.

TFImBackIn · 19/12/2025 17:05

I'm amazed it was to do with women, tbh, but not surprised it happened at all.

northtea · 19/12/2025 17:05

Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for him.

Separatedcoercive · 19/12/2025 17:06

Bit late in the day really. He’s already made a fortune from it

habin · 19/12/2025 17:07

surprised it’s taken this long for them to drop him to be honest

Iamthemoom · 19/12/2025 17:07

Finally! It’s been a long time coming. Everyone in publishing has known about this for years!

It only happened after the CEO changed and the new one, a women, launched an investigation.

The old CEO (male) seemed quite happy to continue with him as a client.

Publishers seem to be odious themselves, ignoring things like this for years just to make money.

The rumours about him and his young female fans where he made them sign NDAs before being alone with them still hasn't seen proper investigation yet.

CalamityK8 · 19/12/2025 17:08

Do you mean David Walliams?

I'm not. He was a cash cow, why kill off the thing that makes you most of your money in one genre.

His sales have dropped considerably this year, so financially viable to offload him.

David Walliams? His books are utter shite, too. Sadly my son has been given a few of them. I'd never have bought or suggested them myself. Odious man, terrible writer.

OliviaBonas · 19/12/2025 17:12

No surprise! Let’s hope people stop buying his books now too.

Apocketfilledwithposies · 19/12/2025 17:14

How Harper Collins were happy to sell his shitty books in the first place has always amazed me, and that's without looking at his behaviour around others in real life.

PodMom · 19/12/2025 17:14

I think something quite big is about to come out against him….like some sort of police charge. The daily mail have been running some odd pieces about him recently, along the lines of his lonely life/xmas. Which is an unusual story for someone pretty much not in the public eye now. Really emphasising how Simon Cowell no longer follows him on social media. They sometimes do this when they know something else is brewing but cant yet break the story.

GarliceGran · 19/12/2025 17:16

Do a search for him on Mumsnet. People on here have been calling him out for years, decades even.

Conclusion: a LOT of people knew and have been covering it up.

loveyoulotslike · 19/12/2025 17:18

Just reading about it now. Apparently there was an investigation at Harper Collins after several young women at the company complained (one was given a payout).

If all this is true, massive well done to Harper Collins for siding with women. When celebrities are involved, it’s all too common for companies to cover things up.

You can get the thread title corrected. Report it to MNHQ and ask them.

There have been so many times though when something has been in the wind, but not happened because it wasn't legally tight enough.

He is incredibly litigous.

Every single time I hope that this time it's going to happen, so I really hope they can go with something.

Codyrhodesisaheel · 19/12/2025 17:22

This is going to be a BIG story. There’s clearly something major about to break.

GarliceGran · 19/12/2025 17:24

The former head of Harper Collins left mysteriously in October… and now this…

Edited

And presumably without giving much thought to the content of his kids books too. All full of stereotypes and school bully type names. Awful.
