The only surprise is that it's taken this long.

@Bulbsbulbsbulbs the news of the world was owned by Murdoch who also owns Harper Collins - anything that impacted DW’s reputation as the new Roald Dahl was removed and anyone threatening to expose him got the full force of Murdoch’s legal team, who have limitless funds when it comes to protecting money makers.

So him being dropped will hopefully open the floodgates now he hasn't got Harper Collins behind him.

Fingers crossed!

Wintersgirl · 19/12/2025 18:04

Yes, he gave off super creepy letch vibes......

Hereforthecommentz · 19/12/2025 18:05

I always thought he was gay

borntobequiet · 19/12/2025 18:07

Vile man. Horrible books.

JoshLymanSwagger · 19/12/2025 18:08

Well done BBC...again 🤦🏻‍♀️

Didn’t I see a video of him pulling some poor embarrassed young lad's trousers down actually onstage?
In plain sight, similar to Savile groping that girl on camera on Top of the Pops.
No one did anything.

Edited

Yeah I remember that too. Didn't it involve a kind of Orville type puppet and DW was like "nothing to do with me, it was all the puppets doing".

I always thought he was gay

I think he is bisexual, although gay men can be inappropriate with women and think they can get away with it, he is an absolute creep.

BillieWiper · 19/12/2025 17:52

Least surprised ever.

Yes he is the creepiest creepy creep that ever creeped.

He doesn't just make my skin crawl, he gives me a whole body crawl. His books were on the shelf in the bookshop where I worked -- I didn't have a say on that, but tried. They were horrific, like a bully's version of Dahl.

<shudder>

CalzoneOnLegs · 19/12/2025 18:11

You really only need to look at his eyes

Coffeeishot · 19/12/2025 18:12

There was something on This Morning about him being alone at Christmas i wasn't really listening properly, I am assuming it was a whinge about not seeing his son.

Agreed hes always given me the creeps.

EchoesOfOurDreams · 19/12/2025 18:12

I still can't get over the rumour about him and his sister.

Apparently he lost his virginity to his own sister and he wrote about this in his autobiography as a sort of amusing anecdote. He was allegedly baffled that the publishers insisted on removing it before it went to print.

I don't know how true that is but that rumour is well known in the publishing world apparently.

flatfootedfred · 19/12/2025 18:12

I’ve never heard a single positive word about him or his books, who is buying them?

Coffeeishot · 19/12/2025 18:13

Hereforthecommentz · 19/12/2025 18:12

Agreed hes always given me the creeps.

He used to sleaze all over Simon Cowell on BGT and pretend it was a joke, he is disgusting.

Ive always found him creepy. I remember him making some big hooha about how he'd done something awful at school that he was ashamed of but wouldn' t say whst it wss. Anyone remember that ? Im surprised it's young women. I thought it might be something else !!!

Parents who are grateful their child is reading something, parents who don’t know what he’s actually like, schools who encourage their pupils to read his books cause SLT/teaching staff just want children to read…

I recommend that all parents look at what books their children are reading at school! Neil Gaiman’s ‘Coraline’ is popular in UKS2 as a class text and I see many class libraries stocked with Walliams’ books.

JumpingJiminy · 19/12/2025 18:17

One thing I was surprised at was how he managed to keep being in Comic Relief sketches.

He's absolutely not gay. He's a misogynist.

noodlezoodle · 19/12/2025 18:20

Couldn't happen to a nicer fella. I think this is probably just the first domino to fall.

GarliceGran · 19/12/2025 18:22

I wonder if Matt Lucas will comment?

I’m pretty certain he’s spoken about being bisexual (or having sexual experiences with both men and women) in the past - but I have always said his persona is a way to get closer to women. He can switch it on and off far too quickly.

bookworm14 · 19/12/2025 18:23

It’s always the ones you least most suspect.

I hope one of the very young women has finally spoken out. Or more than one of them.

He deserves jailtime.

The fact that there have been rumours for years tells us that women have been speaking out. 'Rumour' doesn't mean victims have kept quiet. It means victims haven't been listened to when they speak up.
