Freedom of religion, freedom to criticise the government. If they are in a same-sex marriage performed legally elsewhere it would be recognised. Equal rights for women.

@NewmumOct with pleasure ; women and gay people lack equal rights in general. Many countries restrict freedom of religion, freedom of expression and assembly. Blasphemy and apostasy laws apply in a number of countries while vanishingly few have anything close to free and fair elections. The appalling treatment of immigrant workers is well documented as is the treatment of refugees.

Per my previous posts, I have been stressing how important it is not to confuse Islam with radical Islam. I am by no means blaming Muslims in general for this extremism, quite the reverse.

People should never be killed for who they are. Its simple. I teach my kids this but adults can not comprehend.

Outside the right of return, what specific rights to Jews have in Israel that other religions don’t? It’s a real question- I don’t know. The right of return was developed in response to the need due to the lack of welcoming options many times in history but I don’t know what else is different.

Jewish people literally aren’t allowed in various parts of the world - with a longer list for Israelis. Am not sure people understand what it was like to be Jewish before Israel, or what would happen if all of Israel marched itself into the sea as the chants sing about with passion.

and you do know that most countries have a religion right? The Uk is a Christian nation - as is the states. Many places are catholic specifically, many others are Muslim. One is Jewish. So if you start dismantling countries with a named religion, you have a lot of work to do.

If you think what is happening in Gaza is the worst genocide of modern times, you need to widen your scope. Tibet. China. Burma/Myanmar.

I'd argue Gaza isn't a genocide. Given that it's urban warfare in a built up environment from which civilians cannot escape, owing to Egypt closing the border, it's a miracle that the death toll, awful as it is, isn't very much higher.

So although it is catergorised by the world's leading association of genocide scholars as genocide it is not its just a war.
