Bondi beach mass shooting

habin · 14/12/2025 10:00

Just horrendous. There was a big Jewish gathering on the beach. Jewish festival goers targeted by two gunmen. At least ten people dead according to police.

What a horrific thing to happen.
The guy who disarmed the terrorist was Ahmed al Ahmed, a 43-year-old fruit shop owner, he confronted one of the attackers. The father of two wrested the rifle from the shooter and pointed it back at him, saving lives in the process.
There are good people from all ethnicities. Thank goodness.
Sending peace to all 💛

I don't think colonialism has been limited to Europeans!
I think she was referring to the Medieval Islamic Empire which actually got as far as Spain and Portugal.

The Ottoman Empire lasted until the beginning of the 20th Century so was not just Medieval.

2021x · 14/12/2025 22:01

It is possible to have empathy for all the Jewish people feeling an enormous sense of unease seeing this very deliberately targeted attack in Bondi.

It is also possible to have empathy for the people living in Gaza and Palestine who have been treated as second class citizens and exposed to the multi-generational violence from the IDF.

The issue here is not religions and religious differences, the issue here is extremist violence and rhetoric. There is no place in any civilised society for children to be shot during a celebration. No religion would ever support that.

OneGreySeal · 14/12/2025 21:47

It is actual radical Judaism that’s doing that if you take a look at the beach in Gaza. Extremists exist in all factions I’m afraid but that won’t fit your narrative ?

We watched people celebrate on steps of our Opera house after the October 7 massacres and now we've seen this massacre at a peaceful celebration at our iconic beach. You think this is going to increase support for Gaza - you are wrong.

HoneyParsnipSoup · 14/12/2025 22:02

Violent people exist everywhere within every religion.

When was the last Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, Jewish terror attack in the style of what we have seen today?

Yep a muslim man stopped and wrestled the shooter. I agree there are good and bad in all of us.

Wait who said that? What are you saying i am justifying terrorism. No no human being should be murdered or killed. Please do not make things up.
I was responding to a post that said jews aee no violent people. Violent people exist everywhere within every religion.

Apoligies. i didn't see the previous posts.

Yes, I mean, do they even know what 'globalise the Intifada means? They are calling for 'global uprisings' against the Jews. So some OAP's on a day out cheering people calling calling for global terrorism! Do they think this is just a catchy phrase?

Not mostly OAPs (unless you count Corbyn). I've witnessed many of the London marches and most people are young (under 40).

Absoutley agree.. all humans have the potential to be violent given the right circumstances and permissions.

All religions have a history of violence somewhere.. because all religons have humans in common.

It is naive to think that any group you identify with or belong to hasn't in some description been completely peaceful. Thats how victim narratives start and violence becomes justified.

Yes, I know. Thank you.
I was using the terminology from the History books.
So indeed - it was a large and long lasting Empire. Successfully colonising parts of Africa, Asia and Europe.

Bad Post.

cupfinalchaos · 14/12/2025 22:11

Massacring Jews is not resistance. It has nothing to do with freeing Palestine. Let’s hope the light’s finally dawned on Starmer to outlaw the hate marches. Idiot.

Violent people exist everywhere within every religion.

When was the last Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, Jewish terror attack in the style of what we have seen today?

Hindus carry out attacks in India. They are referred to as hindutva. They are a radical group of hindus that carry out horrendous attacks, bombs etc mainly targeting muslims in india and pakistan. They believe in Hindu nationalism.

Christians, lets talk the IRA, KKK, slavery. Mass murders and atrocities have been committed in every corner of this earth by individuals under the Christian faith. Examples of more recent attacks the Christman market attack in Germany 2024. The 2011 Norway attacks, also called 22 July or 22/7 in Norway, were two domestic terrorist attacks by far-right extremist Anders Behring Breivik. There are many more you can find online.

Sikhs here you go
Sikh extremist groups, particularly during the late 20th-century Khalistan movement, have been responsible for terrorist attacks
. The most notable incident was the bombing of Air India Flight 182 in 1985, which killed all 329 people on board and remains Canada's deadliest act of aviation terrorism

We can go on and on. And yes Jews kill too.

The greastest genocide of modern history is happening under zionism.

Is this enough? Does my point make sense.

Indeed, I agree. Mostly young people. I sometimes don't know what some people actually see!

Teddleshon1 · 14/12/2025 22:11

@OneFunBrickNewt do you understand what the right of return is? Quite obviously it isn’t applicable to any non Jews.

It is simply incorrect to say that Arabs living in Israel have fewer rights than any one else. It is however correct to say that Arabs living in Israel have greater rights than the enjoy in any other Middle Eastern country.

What a load of utter shit... greatest genocide of modern history?... clearly demonstrating your lack of knowledge here.

You're embarrassing yourself

Was I talking to you?
I was replying to a specific person who wanted to know why radical Jews didn't commit actions like this,
I kindly pointed out that the they most certainly do.

'Was I talking to you?' This is a forum. Posters can 'speak' to whom they like. And I'm kindly telling you that diaspora Jews do not commit atrocities like the one perpetrated in Australia yesterday by Muslims. Jews are not violent people.

Like what? What makes palestinians in Israeli so liberated? What specialy rights do they have there that you can not find in middle eastern countries?

Please give us some examples

I think empathy is a tricky word here.

I also think it’s worth considering how Jewish people have been treated in any number of Arab and European countries. The story doesn’t begin with the modern day IDF.

There is nothing to justify killing random people on a beach - in any country. But
the way this situation is going will make Israel’s existence increasingly important and thus more and more justifications will be made to protect its existence at ever increasing cost. There’s a horrible truth here - if Jews are no longer safe in Sydney or Manchester or Paris or Pittsburgh then what? There’s a reason Israel won its right to exist to begin with and that reason is no less true today - perhaps even more true every day.

At the marches outside my workplace weekly, the call is for Jews to ‘go back home’ but where exactly is that? Where are we supposed to go if we just want to have a party and eat some donuts in peace?

Well said. One abhorrent action doesn’t justify another. And that holds true - or ought to - as far back as anyone wants to go.
